Restaurant and Bar would pretty good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel had frequent shuttle services to the airport, and would call a taxi for you, which were often there in only 5 minutes.
The location was the reason we stayed there.

Great location, customer service, and functioning air conditioning.
The WiFi was the fastest hotel WiFi I've ever used. I was able to stream the Succession finale with no problems. The drapes could be closed to make the room absolutely dark during daylight. The location one block from the station was very convenient

Top Tips
- Book your Bologna hotel early, as properties fill fast during major events like Bologna Fiere, Arte Fiera, or university start dates in September or October. Rates often increase and availability drops 6-8 weeks ahead of event start, so set a calendar reminder to secure your room.
- Hotels within 400 m of Bologna Centrale Station offer the fastest airport-city transfer. The Marconi Express connects Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) to the station in 7-9 minutes for €6-9 per ride (approx. $7-10 USD). Confirm your hotel’s location and transit options before booking.
- Driving to the city center requires advance registration for Zona a Traffico Limitato (ZTL) entry. Contact your hotel to register your plate and arrival time to avoid fines; on-site parking in central Bologna is limited and usually €10-20 per day (approx. $15-22 USD), so confirm space before travel.
- Italian law requires photo ID (passport or EU ID card) at check-in, plus a city 'tassa di soggiorno' tourist tax of €2-5 per person per night (approx. $2-5 USD), payable at the hotel. Keep your ID handy and request a receipt for reimbursement or business travel.
- Reception desks at smaller or historic hotels may close overnight. If arriving after 21:00, call ahead to arrange late check-in instructions or a code. Always note the hotel’s address in Italian for taxi or rideshare drivers.
- Business travelers can expedite reimbursements by confirming invoice and VAT (partita IVA) issuance and Wi-Fi speeds before booking. Provide your company VAT number at check-in to receive compliant documentation.
- Read current reviews filtered by 'noise', 'elevator', and 'family rooms'. Many historic Bologna hotels have thin walls or limited elevator access, so verify facilities fit your needs, especially if traveling with children or extra luggage.
- Most hotels include a substantial buffet breakfast (colazione) in the room rate; verify start times, which are often 07:00 to 10:00. For early departures, ask in advance about takeaway options or a packaged breakfast.
- Request explicit confirmation of accessible room features such as step-free entry, roll-in showers, or elevators when booking, as many centro storico properties have stairs or limited access. Italian accessibility standards may differ from other countries, so verify details directly.
- Contact the hotel directly for custom needs like ZTL permits, parking, or dietary requests. Reaching out via the official website or phone often provides the most up-to-date information or personalized solutions.
- Pack a Type L adapter for Italy’s 230V outlets. Confirm in-room air conditioning is available and functioning if visiting June to August, as not all hotels in historic buildings are equipped for summer heat.
- Greet staff with 'Buongiorno' or 'Buonasera' (morning or evening). Tipping is optional in Italy, but a small gratuity of €1-2 per bag for porters or per night for housekeeping (approx. $1-2 USD) is a valued gesture for good service.
- Some staff outside major chains may have limited English, so have Google Translate ready or learn essentials like 'grazie' (thank you), 'per favore' (please), and 'aiuto' (help) for smoother interactions.
- Most hotels offer complimentary luggage storage on arrival or departure day, even before check-in. Ask at reception about storage location and hours, and if needed, request an early check-in for an additional fee.
- Explore the flavors of Emilia-Romagna by asking staff for local trattoria or cooking class recommendations. Specialties like tagliatelle al ragù or tortellini are often within a 10-minute walk of most city-center hotels.
