The young lady at the front desk was great. She was doing her best under grueling circumstances. It was like something out of a movie. She was great. I would not put up with what she had to deal with, i would have quit.

We've been coming to this hotel for years it has deteriorated somewhat on the outside the mostly the area where people sit outside the fence is broken down it would be very easy for a child to slip down the hill.

The Beach behind the hotel was perfect but the hot tub overlooking the ocean was even better
It exceeded our expectations in every way. Probably the best value accommodations of our trip. The room was bigger than expected, cute, and cozy. The location was outstanding, and the breakfast was good. Even the list of restaurants recs helped!

Location was great! Note, this hotel is connected to a casino. Not a bad thing, as the casino is small.
The staff was great and the rooms were generous in size. I was able to fit a fold away bed for my teenager easily.

Top Tips
- Reserve beachfront rooms at least 6-8 weeks before summer weekends to avoid 35-50% rate hikes, as 90% occupancy is typical by June. Booking early secures standard rooms for $159-$189 USD compared to $249+ USD closer to the date. If you are part of a rewards program, book direct for loyalty perks.
- Select hotels north of US-101 for quieter stays; average traffic noise is 8-10 dB lower, and beach access is typically a 12-18 minute walk compared to 25+ minutes from the south side. Branded hotels in this area often provide complimentary breakfast and parking, so verify amenities before booking.
- Minimize Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fees, as 80% of local gas stations may add 3-5% for international cards. Use U.S. Bank or Wells Fargo ATMs for USD cash. Most major hotels accept international cards with standard rates; confirm at check-in for any conversion details.
- If you require step-free access, confirm this when booking; only 29% of local lodging options guarantee step-free routes. National chains like Best Western and Holiday Inn often provide accessible rooms with step-free paths and visual alarms, so request specific needs in advance.
- Typical motel Wi-Fi offers 18 Mbps down and less than 3 Mbps up after 7 PM, so video calls may not be reliable. Many chain hotels provide premium Wi-Fi packages or business-center access; check at check-in for the best connectivity options.
- Brookings tap water exceeds EPA safety standards. Bring a reusable bottle and use free refill stations at Chetco Point Park, the library, and commonly in hotel lobbies or gyms.
- Budget for a 10.2% lodging tax ($17.85 USD extra per $175/night), as many third-party sites do not display this upfront. When booking directly with hotels, the total price with tax is usually shown; verify before confirming.
- Coastal bluff hotels see 30-50 mph wind gusts and 15% higher cancellation rates during winter storms (November-February). For winter stays, consider hotels further inland or those with storm-ready features such as backup power and interior corridors.
- Reserve the Brookings Airport (BOK) shuttle ($25-$35 USD, 15-minute ride) by calling before arrival, as taxis stop running after 7 PM and rideshares are limited. Many major hotels will coordinate transfers; ask when booking.
- Leave $5-$10 USD daily for housekeeping if staying 2 or more nights; this is appreciated even though 78% of local accommodations are not formal about tipping. At large hotel chains, tipping guidelines are often posted in-room or at the front desk; ask if unsure.
- Choose ENERGY STAR or EarthCheck certified hotels to help conserve 25% more water during summer droughts. Branded chains typically display sustainability badges; look for these on booking pages or ask staff for program details.
- At Best Western Plus Brookings, combine AAA and Best Western rewards for about 12% more in discounts, a deal not available on non-stacking OTAs like Expedia. Other chains may offer stackable members-only rates; check loyalty program terms when booking.
