Large room. Everything worked.
Second stay. HUGE room, lots of counter- and shelf space. Perfect for work-away virtual conference. Indoor pool is nice. There are gas grills on a nice patio space off of the pool. Relatively close to grocery and a few restaurants. Close to the bypass.

The free breakfast was not free . The hot tub was not operational and neither was the pool . All were in our search to find the optimal hotel. This place missed it. We also found out after we left it is $20.00 per day parking !

Location/ price
This hotel was in a convenient location. The room was a good size.
The location of the hotel. We have stayed there before and had been happy with the accommodations at the time. But, it has been a few years and it has gone down in a number of ways. Overall the hotel was very shabby and dark--lobby, hallways, room.

Top Tips
- Book 60-90 days ahead for major Indiana University event weekends like Commencement (early May), Move-In (late August), or Little 500 (late April), as availability tightens and rates typically increase during these high-demand periods. Set rate alerts or check flexible cancellation policies if your plans may change.
- Staying in the Kirkwood/downtown area puts you within a 5-12 minute walk of IU Sample Gates and local dining. Hotels on IN-37 or near College Mall are an 8-15 minute drive from campus and may offer lower rates and free parking; confirm if your hotel provides shuttle service for added convenience.
- Downtown parking typically costs $6-20 daily for municipal meters or garages. Verify if your hotel rate includes parking or if valet or self-parking is available onsite, as rates and policies vary by location.
- Indianapolis International Airport (IND) is the primary commercial gateway, 55-65 miles (60-75 minutes' drive) from Bloomington. General aviation flights use Monroe County Airport (BMG); for public transit from IND, check schedules as direct shuttle service may not be available year-round.
- During Greek rush, Welcome Week (August/September), and IU home football weekends, some campus-facing rooms can experience significant noise. Request a higher-floor room or one away from fraternity or sorority blocks to minimize disturbance.
- Older downtown hotels may be converted from historic buildings and not all offer full step-free access. If you require accessibility, confirm step-free routes, elevator access, or accessible room availability directly with the property before booking.
- Independent hotels dominate the downtown area, limiting the use of major loyalty program perks. Compare refundable rates on online travel agencies and direct-booking benefits to find the most flexible option.
- Bloomington’s municipal tap water meets EPA standards and is considered safe to drink. If you have sensitivities or want further details, request the latest Consumer Confidence Report from City Utilities for complete water quality information.
- Expect fewer Bloomington Transit bus services outside the IU academic semester; headways and evening frequencies drop significantly in summer. Always check real-time schedules before planning bus trips, especially after 19:00.
- Road closures, traffic congestion, and parking redirects can add 30-60 minutes to hotel arrivals or departures on IU home football game days. Review your hotel’s game-day check-in guidelines and allow extra travel time.
