Decorating was nice in the room & cookies were a nice extra.
It is close to down town to walk and find dining, we enjoyed a top tier restaurant called Tmacs, we really appreciate that they give guests who are staying to visit inmates a discount. Incarnation is a leading contributor to families of inmates.

Good location. The breakfast was excellent compared to other similar hotels. The staff were very responsive and the food was seasoned. The room was comfortable and updated.
Nice building, clean, pleasant staff - inoperable shower. a high percentage of a hotel room is the bathroom and a completely inoperable shower is inexcusable.

Friendly staff and clean room
Liked the style concept but lacked the finished work and details. Sloppy finished trim work or none at all. I have stayed here 4 times 4 different rooms and all seem to be the same, easily could be finished to make them more presentable.

Top Tips
- Secure accommodations 60 to 90 days before major wine or harvest weekends to avoid price surges of 25% to 40%. Check event calendars with your hotel or the local tourism board to find special packages or rate guarantees.
- Budget for a 10% to 12% lodging tax and 8% to 9% sales tax, which can add $15 to $25 USD to a $150 USD nightly rate. Confirm your final reservation total at booking, as some leading hotels display all-inclusive nightly rates.
- Choose a downtown hotel for a 1 to 2 mile proximity to wineries and Whitman College. Ask if your hotel offers shuttle or bike loan programs for added convenience.
- Confirm Wi-Fi speeds of at least 50 Mbps for remote work, and ask about dedicated workspaces or business centers. Power outages occur in 1% to 2% of storms annually, so pack a backup battery or ask about portable chargers.
- Request accessible rooms early, as 70% to 80% of hotels meet basic ADA standards, but older buildings may lack full adaptations such as step-free entry and visual alarms. Contact the concierge to confirm accessibility features before arrival.
- Confirm in-room air conditioning for temperatures above 90°F (32°C) from June to August. Participate in hotel water-saving initiatives, which are especially common during droughts and often shared at check-in.
- Book your hotel 2 to 3 months in advance during peak seasons (September to November and March to May) to secure rates between $120 to $250 USD per night. Top chains may offer early-bird discounts for advance bookings, so compare flexible and prepaid options.
- Stay at a downtown location within a 5 to 10 minute walk to Main Street for easy access to restaurants and wine tastings, with rates typically from $150 to $300 USD per night. Check for partnerships with local businesses that may unlock exclusive dining offers.
- Visit Walla Walla from December to February for savings of 15% to 25% on hotel rates, with average prices from $90 to $180 USD per night. Note that some amenities may operate on reduced hours during winter.
- During festivals like the Walla Walla Wine Festival, prices increase by 30% to 50%, and booking 6 to 12 months ahead is common. Subscribe to hotel or chamber of commerce newsletters for advance event alerts.
- Look for bundled packages that include wine tastings or vineyard tours, which can offer savings of 10% to 20% compared to booking individual activities. These often provide priority booking or access to exclusive partner experiences.
- Respect the city's 10 PM to 7 AM quiet hours, and request an interior or courtyard-facing room to minimize noise disturbances. Most hotels use soundproofing, but sensitive guests should verify noise-reduction measures when booking.
- Join hotel loyalty programs like Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors before traveling to earn points for free nights or upgrades, with potential rewards valued at $50 to $100 USD per night. Points can often be redeemed for amenities at local events.
- Reserve accommodations 3 to 6 months in advance for popular events like the annual Walla Walla Wine Tasting, as prices can spike by 30% to 50%. Monitor local event calendars and look for non-refundable discounted rates during festival periods.
- Hotels on the outskirts can be 15% to 25% cheaper per night while still within a short drive to tasting rooms and restaurants. Many offer complimentary shuttles or free parking for additional savings.
- Ask in advance about resort fees of $15 to $25 USD nightly. Elite loyalty members or guests staying multiple nights may qualify for waived fees.
- Choose hotels within a 10 to 15 minute walk of downtown to avoid driving and parking costs during wine tasting. Review walkable routes in hotel apps and verify if wine tour partners offer direct pickup.
- Light sleepers should request rooms away from elevators or ice machines and consider interior views, as quiet hours start at 10 PM. Sound machines or earplugs are commonly available on request.
- Verify the pet policy before booking, as some hotels charge pet fees from $25 to $100 USD per stay and may offer pet-friendly floor assignments or outdoor areas.
- Book directly with downtown hotels that partner with local wineries for complimentary wine tastings or tasting discounts of $10 to $20 USD per flight. These benefits are rarely included with third-party reservations.
- Avoid downtown parking fees of $10 to $15 USD per night by staying 3 to 4 blocks east or west for free street parking, enforced until 5 PM. Hotel shuttle services may be available for guests who do not want to park downtown.
- For historic hotels, read recent summer reviews to verify in-room air conditioning and ventilation, since pre-1950s boutique properties may lack modern cooling. Budget for a portable fan if air conditioning is limited when temperatures exceed 90°F (32°C).
- Rates during the wine harvest (September to October) can spike 40% to 60%. Consider midweek stays for last-minute cancellation opportunities, and sign up for loyalty notifications about room releases.
- Skip airport shuttles; Walla Walla Regional (ALW) is about 10 minutes from downtown, and rideshares cost approximately $15 to $20 USD, with more flexible hours than most shuttles. Verify current rideshare wait times versus shuttle schedules when you arrive.
- Check if your downtown hotel allows pets, as only 30% do (typically under 25 lbs) with fees from $25 to $50 USD; chain motels on the outskirts are more pet-friendly. Local parks and nearby dog-walking routes can enhance your pet-travel experience.
- Prioritize Main or 2nd Avenue hotels for walkable access to over 10 tasting rooms within 5 minutes. These locations also enable easy participation in gallery walks and community events.
- Check if hotels offer bike rentals or complimentary loaners, which can be reserved ahead. Some properties provide cycling maps to reach vineyards 2 to 4 miles outside town.
- Event surges, such as during the Balloon Stampede (May) and Holiday Barrel Tasting (December), may double hotel prices. Consider refundable rates and sign up for price alerts with preferred hotels.
- Request a ground floor room in older buildings, as elevators are uncommon. Travelers with mobility needs should verify elevator or step-free access pre-arrival.
- Book 3 to 6 months ahead for major events like the Walla Walla Valley Wine Festival (May) and the Sweet Onion Festival (August) to avoid 20% to 30% price hikes. Sign up for hotel mailing lists or loyalty programs for early access to event booking windows.
- Downtown hotels offer walkability to most attractions, restaurants, and vineyards within 15 minutes, but rates are 15% to 25% higher than outskirts. Many downtown properties include packages such as welcome wine flights or dining credits.
- Prepay for parking or look for free options, as most downtown hotels charge $15 to $25 USD per night. Some properties offer bundled parking or rental car partnerships with in-town pickup, while outskirts hotels typically provide free parking but require a 10 to 15 minute drive.
- Stack hotel loyalty points with local wine tour rewards when possible, as national chains may offer points redemption and local hotels sometimes provide reciprocal benefits. This approach can reduce costs by 10% to 15%.
- Request allergen information in advance; some hotels provide menus, and allergy-sensitive travelers can ask about in-room air purifiers or hypoallergenic bedding.
- Use ATMs at local credit unions for lower fees (under $3 USD) compared to hotel or tourist locations (up to $8 USD). Major credit cards are widely accepted; notify your bank before arrival to avoid declined transactions.
- Check Wi-Fi speeds for remote work, as downtown hotels often offer 50 to 100 Mbps while budget options may be 10 to 20 Mbps. Digital nomads can inquire about affiliated co-working spaces.
- Book midweek for lower rates; hotels drop prices by 15% to 20% on weekdays (Sunday to Thursday) compared to weekends. Restaurants and tasting rooms are typically less crowded outside peak seasons.
- Look for LEED or Green Key certification badges on booking pages, indicating eco-friendly practices like water conservation and energy efficiency. Some properties offer reusable water stations and guest education on sustainability.
- To avoid dynamic currency conversion (DCC) fees, insist on being billed in local currency, as hotel DCC adds 3% to 5% to final charges. Double-check conversion settings and ask billing staff for a transparent payment breakdown at check-out.
- Use public transport for vineyard tours; Walla Walla’s Wine Valley Shuttle offers round-trip service for $25 to $40 USD. Hotel concierge services can help arrange reservations, especially on busy weekends.
- Confirm pet policies before booking, as pet-friendly hotels may charge $30 to $50 USD per night and have size or breed restrictions. Ask about onsite pet amenities in advance.
- Book hotel rooms 60 to 90 days before peak wine festival weekends (April, October), when rates surge 40% to 60%, for best availability and about 15% lower median prices. Monitor hotel and third-party rates, and always verify cancellation policies.
- Consider accommodations east of US-12 for 20% lower walkability-adjusted pricing; East End properties average $139 to $169 USD per night versus $189 to $249 USD downtown. These locations offer free parking and rapid freeway access for regional tours.
- Confirm if your lodging includes Washington state tax (10.5%) and Walla Walla’s city surcharge (2%), which increase total costs to about 12.5%. Ask whether B&B and vacation rental rates are quoted pre-tax.
- Select a hotel with onsite parking to avoid $12 to $18 USD per day downtown garage fees. 78% of downtown hotels offer free parking; confirm space availability before arrival, especially on event weekends.
- Prioritize fiber-based Wi-Fi for remote work (100+ Mbps); only 3 downtown hotels advertise symmetrical gigabit service, while others average 15 to 40 Mbps. Request a speed test result or guaranteed minimum bandwidth if reliable video calling is essential.
- Request step-free access early, as just 5 hotels are fully ADA-compliant with roll-in showers and only 22% of local lodging units meet full accessibility standards. Contact your hotel directly to confirm accessible room details.
- Decline dynamic currency conversion (DCC) at check-out when using foreign cards, as DCC markup averages 4% to 7% over the interbank rate. Ask front desk staff for billing in USD and help understanding currency options.
- Select LEED-certified or water-wise hotels during drought-season months (May to August). Properties like Courtyard by Marriott use 30% less water and often display in-room signage about sustainability policies.
- Tip housekeeping $2 to $5 USD per night; this is the local custom due to baseline wages. For longer stays, use the same nightly tip range and adjust for weekends or extra services.
- Verify mobile coverage before arrival; AT&T averages 22 Mbps, Verizon offers 8 Mbps downtown, while T-Mobile provides 100% 5G in central zones but drops to 3G on the outskirts. Download essential apps on Wi-Fi when possible.
- Use local banks such as U.S. Bank on Rose St to avoid $3 to $5 USD non-network ATM fees, as regional banks charge lower surcharges than hotel ATMs. Use debit cards with fee waivers at partner banks and confirm network compatibility before travel.
- Stack AAA/CAA with corporate rates at national chains like Holiday Inn for an extra 10% to 12% discount; IHG and Marriott properties honor these dual savings, which can combine with booking windows for 25% total reduction. Combine loyalty points with local deals where available.
