Nice outside look
Beautiful decorations! Absolutely stunning!

The location was great and close to the subway system and multiple bus options. The staff was pleasant and professional.
What I like best is that you can control the room temperature. Unlike most hotels in Taiwan, there is heating, and thus winter seems more pleasant. In most hotels, an outdoor temperature of 16 degrees implies 16 degrees indoors. Also: double glazing.

Right outside metro station.
I like just about everything with the only excetion I wil explain below.
Room amenities. Bed, tub, etc were the right type for relaxing after a long day in Taipei.

Convenience. There is a gym with decent equipments. The included breakfast had quite a few options to choose from and it easy bufffet style. I had to take an early flight out and the staff offered a breakfast box for me. I was pleasantly shocked.

The location is good, walking distance to much and easy to hail a taxi on busy street. Their breakfast service was good and fairly priced. Free snacks and water/drinks in the lobby.

Everything was very clean and very well kept! Impressive WiFi! Everyone that worked there was incredibly kind and welcoming (although they didn¿t seem to speak much English)! A great place to stay for exploring Taipei!
Super friendly staff and one spoke fluent English. Tons of all day snacks, drinks, and water. Room was very clean and modern. Bed was super soft and nice. Internet great. This was a holdover place and we knew it would be small so it met our expectations.
The location of this hotel can't be beat. My husband and I walked everywhere; 5 min to bus terminal A to the airport, 10 min to Ximen Din, to Taipei Main Station underground shopping. Room is small yet comfortable and clean. Staff is great.

Room space is good. Bed sheet is clean and towel is changed on daily basis. Staff is polite and efficient. Better yet, we were granted for a late check out at 3:00 pm.
Close to our relatives and this is the only reason
the hotel location is good

Location and staff
I want to send my appreciation to the staff. She is super customer oriented and caring. Her service attitude is even better than a 5 star hotel staff. It is Amba hotel and customer's treasure to have her. Thanks a lot.
Hotel was clean, affordable, and located in a great area. Loved the free water, fruit, slippers, and sundries. People spoke English. Really liked the clean restroom and shower. Good tv and channels.

When I left. Very basic. Receptionists were great. Kitchen lady as miserable as sin. Perhaps I expected too much for the money. Probably suits younger age group on a budget rather than an older person like myself looking for a good deal.

What are the benefits of booking hotels in advance in Taipei?
Top Tips
- Book hotels 6 to 8 weeks in advance for events like Lunar New Year or Double Ten Day, as prices typically rise 40-70% with occupancy near 90% during these dates. Check event calendars for exact festival dates as they vary each year.
- Avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) at hotel kiosks and pay in New Taiwan Dollars (NTD) to prevent 3-5% extra in fees. Select NTD at payment terminals, even if prompted for your home currency; staff can assist if unclear.
- Select EEWH-certified hotels for verified sustainable practices; these properties use 25-35% less water during the drier November-April period. EEWH is Taiwan’s green building standard - look for certification signage in the lobby or confirmation emails.
- Check 4G/5G upload speeds if you plan remote work, as Taipei business hotels average 40+ Mbps while hostels typically offer 12-18 Mbps. Ask the front desk for speed details if consistent connectivity is crucial.
- Pre-book taxis from Taoyuan Airport through official apps to avoid unauthorized drivers, as unauthorized taxis may overcharge by NT$800-NT$1,500 (approx. $25-$50 USD). Official taxi counters are located inside Arrivals.
- Request accessible rooms at least 72 hours in advance in mid-range hotels, as only 30% of 3-star and below properties offer step-free access but advance requests are granted in 80% of cases. Ask about visual alarms or service animal access if you have additional needs.
- Skip overpriced minibars; 7-Eleven stores, found within 300 m of 90% of hotels, offer bottled water and snacks at 50-60% lower prices. Use the hotel mini-fridge to keep 7-Eleven items chilled.
- Tipping is not expected in Taiwan, as a 10% service fee is standard and covers staff wages. If you receive exceptional service, compliments or online reviews are appreciated.
- Withdraw cash at post office ATMs to reduce fees to NT$25 (approx. $0.80 USD) per transaction, compared to NT$50-NT$100 at convenience stores. Post office ATMs are marked 'Chunghwa Post' and support English.
- Choose hotels with indoor air quality (IAQ) certification during winter, as PM2.5 levels often exceed 50 µg/m³ and IAQ-certified hotels filter 80% or more of particulates. Look for IAQ certificates in the lobby or on official hotel websites.
- Maximize loyalty benefits by staying at hotels partnered with EVA Air or Chunghwa Telecom, such as Le Méridien, earning 500-1,000 bonus miles per night. Register loyalty details during booking to ensure credit.
- Stay in Zhongshan or Da’an districts for balanced walkability and taxi access; these areas average 18-22 minutes to Taipei 101 by taxi (NT$220-NT$300, about $7-$10 USD). Many international hotel chains have properties in these neighborhoods.
