The room cleaning is really bad, it is dirty and old, they didn’t clean the floor at all, there were hair, dusty, black spot.… and the hotel smells very strange, it was really disappointed!

Clean and minimalism style is very comfortable. Friendly staff and convenient location. 2 minutes walk to MTR and food street. I mistakenly took their spoon with me and was going to make a trip to return it back to hotel. Manager let me keep it instead

Top Tips
- Present your passport at hotel check-in, as Taiwanese law requires hotels to register all guests and record arrival and departure details. Prepare your passport and booking confirmation for check-in, which typically takes 5-10 minutes at most mid-tier and high-end hotels.
- Confirm the total room rate, including the standard 10% service charge and local VAT, with hotel staff before booking. Some hotels display base rates and add service fees and taxes at payment; verify these details online or by contacting the property.
- Purchase an EasyCard upon arrival at Songshan Airport or any 7-Eleven to access tap-and-go rides on Taipei’s MRT and bus systems. The initial card deposit is typically NT$100, and rides from Songshan Airport Station average NT$20-65 per trip depending on distance.
- Select hotels within 400 m of MRT stations, especially Songshan Airport Station (BR13), for walkable connections across the city. MRT journeys from BR13 reach Taipei Main Station in about 15 minutes; confirm actual walking distances on site maps.
- Check recent guest reviews mentioning noise from Songshan Airport or adjacent roads before booking. For quieter stays, request a room on a higher floor or one facing away from main streets; some hotels confirm room orientation during booking.
- Ask about airport shuttle schedules, luggage storage, and fees for early check-in or late check-out directly with the hotel. Shuttle availability or storage options may vary by chain, especially outside major flight windows, so verify with the front desk for your flight times.
- Keep your hotel's name and address in Chinese characters (printed or on your phone) to show Taipei taxi drivers; most drivers prefer this for navigation over English-language maps or booking apps.
- Expect English-speaking staff at most mid-range and international hotels; at local boutique hotels or guesthouses, prepare to use translation apps or a printed address for communication.
- Tipping is not customary in Taiwan. Upscale hotels and some restaurants add a 10% service fee to the bill, so verify this is included before settling your payment. No additional gratuity is expected.
- Review evacuation routes and emergency exit signs at check-in, as all hotels display them according to local safety codes. During typhoon season (June to September), select flexible booking rates in case of sudden travel or flight changes.
- Buy a local SIM card, eSIM, or portable Wi-Fi at Songshan Airport counters or pre-order online to ensure strong connectivity for maps and hotel communications. SIM options from providers like Chunghwa or FarEasTone start around NT$300 for short stays.
- Taiwan outlets use Type A (two flat pins) and 110V. Bring a Type A adapter and a power bank for your devices. Many chain hotels also offer multi-socket charging stations in lobby areas or guest rooms.
- Smoking inside hotels is restricted by law. Confirm designated outdoor smoking areas with front desk staff, especially if your room is on a non-smoking floor.
- Leverage the hotel concierge or front desk to arrange taxis, book restaurants, reserve show tickets, or get local sightseeing tips, including for Raohe Night Market or hot spring day trips in Beitou. Check if your hotel can help with accessible transportation upon request.
- Explore Raohe Street Night Market, located about 2 km from Songshan Airport Station, to discover local street foods such as pepper buns and bubble tea. The market opens late afternoon and is busiest from 19:00 to 22:30.
- Use 7-Eleven and FamilyMart stores, open 24 hours, for essentials, ATM access, SIM top-ups, and printed directions. Several branches are within a 5-minute walk of Songshan Airport Station.
- Carry NT$100 and NT$500 bills for payments at night markets, food stalls, and taxis. Many local merchants do not accept credit cards or foreign bank cards; prepare cash in advance at airport or hotel ATMs.
- Review the hotel's cancellation and refund policy, particularly during peak periods such as Lunar New Year or Computex in June. Some hotels enforce non-refundable rates and strict payment terms during these high-demand dates; verify before finalizing your booking.
- For accessible stays, check if your hotel offers step-free entrances, accessible rooms, and visual alarms. International hotel brands often provide these features, but availability should be confirmed before arrival.
- Check if your hotel offers onsite amenities, such as fitness centers, laundry, business services, or room service, by reviewing the hotel website or asking the front desk. These can streamline your stay and travel schedule.
