The price for the night was lower than the comparable 3 star hotels nearby. The quality of the room seems to reflect the starts should have been lower. It was mostly clean, but smells were an issue. Breakfast helped with the pricing overall.
Rooms were great and very nice staff.
This hotel was an excellent choice. The desk clerk was very professional and friendly. The room was very clean. The noise reduction was great. I couldn't hear any neighbors or persons moving about in the hall.

Convenience of my location and easy access to the highway.
The staff is friendly and helpful. It's clean. It's very relaxing. I guess the outdoor and indoor area overlooking the lake would be what I like best. But the other things would have to be in place for that to be best.
It was on the water. When I asked for something , they were accommodating.

Top Tips
- Book at least 21 days in advance during hurricane season (June-November) to save 15-30% on hotel rates, as supply drops with storm cancellations. Always review the hotel's cancellation policy, as severe weather can force last-minute changes.
- If using an international card at Port Arthur hotels, avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fees of 3-5% by requesting to be billed in USD. Ask the front desk for available currency billing options.
- IHG and Choice hotels provide step-free access at more than 70% of properties in Port Arthur. Confirm availability of accessible rooms and roll-in showers when booking to ensure a comfortable stay.
- Standard hotel Wi-Fi offers 10-15 Mbps download, which may be too slow for video calls. Extended-stay brands like Staybridge or Candlewood Suites typically deliver 50+ Mbps; confirm with your hotel if high-speed access is required for your stay.
- Refinery turnarounds (maintenance periods) in the first and third quarters trigger a 40% increase in sulfur odor complaints downtown. Book at least 3 miles east to reduce exposure, and ask your hotel about air quality if you are sensitive.
- Staying at hotels along the I-10 corridor (within 0.5 miles) provides more reliable power during storms, with 30% fewer outages and average restoration in 4-6 hours compared to 12+ hours citywide. Check if your hotel has backup generators for added reassurance.
- Tip housekeeping $5–15 per day in cash, left in a labeled envelope for clarity, since 85% of local hotels do not have formal tipping policies.
- After flood advisories, check Jefferson County Water District alerts, as boil-water notices may last 3-7 days and affect 40-60% of the municipal supply. Confirm water potability before using tap water during your stay.
- For stays of 7+ nights, extended-stay hotels can lower your weekly rate by 35-50% and usually offer kitchen access. Confirm which kitchen appliances and cookware are included when booking.
- At the Amtrak station, avoid unlicensed taxis charging 2-3 times the metered rate. Pre-book a shuttle for a fixed $18 ride or use Uber or Lyft (average $12) for a safe and cost-effective trip.
- Choose upper-floor rooms near stairwells to limit flood risk, as 60% of ground-floor rooms below 25 ft elevation report moisture intrusion following 6+ inch rain events. Travelers needing step-free access should confirm elevator or ramp availability.
- Hotels with Texas Historical Commission markers were structurally reviewed after 1983 code changes and are 30% less likely to have plumbing or electrical faults. Ask at the front desk if you are interested in a property with local heritage.
