The only person that was nice was the person who cleaned our rooms.
The only nice person in the hotel was the lady that was cleaning our bedroom.
Location was great and close to restaurants/clubs. Beach access was great and there are multiple pools available so it never felt over crowded. Breakfast times were decent and ended right before noon.

The size of the second Room , the first room on the older side of the Rui is old and outdated even though it had the best views it?s not worth it we had to request to be moved to the newer building ,

The staff from the minute checked in, were great, friendly and helpful. The location for us as a family was excellent because it was in a quiet area, yet a lot of the taxi drivers were not familiar with the hotel. Buffet, clean and delicious.

Location and staff are great!! Rooms are comfy all facing the beach!
Service can be a little slow by the pool, and the food isn¿t that great but other than that everything about this place is great! I have stayed at 7 different hotels in Mazatlan and this is my personal favorite.

Cool gym close by, really good restaurant close by called Panama. Ate there every day. Ten minute walk to beach. Very cold air conditioner and it¿s cheap. Ten minute walk to the main bus terminal just be careful crossing the street.

One block from the Malecón. Quiet room, overall. A range of restaurants and coffee shops nearby, which is good as there's no coffee or food available in the hotel.

Top Tips
- Book 60-90 days ahead for Mazatlán Carnaval (late February or early March) and Semana Santa. During these periods, hotel rates are typically 50-100% higher than low season, with limited availability—especially in Zona Dorada and El Centro. Booking early gives you more choice and a better chance at the amenities you want.
- Select Zona Dorada for direct access to beach hotels, or choose Centro Histórico for restored boutique properties within 500 m of major restaurants and attractions. When comparing options, confirm features such as pools or guest lounges, as these vary by hotel.
- Always choose to pay in Mexican Pesos (MXN) at hotel card terminals to avoid a typical 2-5% markup from Dynamic Currency Conversion. For the most accurate charge, ask staff to confirm your transaction is processed in MXN before you enter your PIN or sign the slip.
- Withdraw MXN at bank-branch ATMs such as BBVA, Banorte, or Santander to reduce skimming risk. Typical surcharges range from 35-90 MXN (about $2-$5 USD). Carry small bills for tipping and local purchases, since many smaller venues do not accept cards.
- Tip in MXN: Bellhops typically receive 20-50 MXN (approx. $1-$3 USD) per bag, and housekeeping 20-50 MXN (approx. $1-$3 USD) per day left on your pillow. Leave 10-15% for restaurant service if the bill does not already include gratuity.
- Tap water is not considered safe to drink in Mazatlán. Always request bottled or hotel-provided filtered water to reduce gastrointestinal risk; use bottled water for brushing your teeth in most hotels.
- Verify accessibility when booking in Centro Histórico, as many properties are in 19th-century buildings that may lack step-free access or elevators. Ask for an accessible room and confirm elevator availability and door width (commonly 60-70 cm), as requirements vary by property.
- For a quieter stay, request a room above the third floor and away from Avenida Camarón Sábalo or nightlife streets in Zona Dorada. Nightlife noise often continues until midnight to 2:00 am during peak periods.
- Purchase a local SIM or eSIM card from official Telcel or AT&T kiosks at MZT airport or authorized city shops. Bring your passport for registration, and avoid street vendors to ensure proper activation and access to customer support.
