The proximity to stores and downtown "centro" of Guadalajara. The staff was friendly and helpful at ALL times. I regret not getting the breakfast option when I booked my stay because the buffet is worth the price.

Staff were most helpful, polite.
The suite was terrible. The window looked directly onto a black brick wall. you had to have the lights on all of the time. The toilet was badly cracked. The so called suite was in fact a fairly small dark room.

Top Tips
- Confirm your hotel rate includes the 16% federal IVA tax, as some smaller properties add it at check-out and your final bill may increase. Major hotel chains typically include this charge, but check your confirmation email and ask for a detailed bill breakdown at check-in for transparency.
- Tap water is not safe for drinking; request complimentary bottled water or an in-room filtration dispenser to avoid stomach issues. You can also use bottled water with in-room coffee or tea makers. Review the amenities list or ask the front desk to restock bottled water daily.
- For the Feria Internacional del Libro in late November, book your hotel 6 to 10 weeks in advance to secure options, as around 800,000 attendees drive demand. Room rates often rise in the weeks before the event, so compare refundable options if plans are still being finalized.
- Match your stay location to your plans: Zapopan or Andares for business hotels, Colonia Americana or Providencia for walking to restaurants, or Centro for direct access to historic sites. If you plan to use public transit, check the hotel's distance to bus or trolley stops and ask about accessibility features if needed.
- Travel between Guadalajara airport and downtown typically takes 20 to 35 minutes off-peak, but plan for 40 to 60 minutes in rush hour or during events. Major conventions and holidays may cause further delays; request a real-time estimate from hotel staff when booking transportation.
- Ride-hailing apps like Uber or DiDi often offer lower fares, but always follow airport signs to the designated pickup points. Some hotels provide airport shuttle service—confirm timing and availability before arrival for extra convenience.
- Telcel offers the most reliable mobile coverage; purchase a prepaid SIM at airport kiosks or use an eSIM provider for steady data access. Bring an unlocked phone for compatibility, and check if your hotel provides free Wi-Fi for heavy data use.
- Tipping is typically 10-15% for restaurant service (if not already added) and small cash tips of about 20-50 MXN (approx. $1-3 USD) for bell staff and housekeeping. Staff usually prefer tips in pesos, and some hotels allow tips to be added to the bill at full-service properties—confirm procedures at check-in.
