Everything
Service was top notch and the hotel restaurant served excellent food every night -- the spa was well maintained and the staff was friendly and helpful for international guests
The only real benefit of this hotel was the location. It was near enough to restaurants (though many were not kid friendly), shopping, and the train station.

Location is great...great for folks with luggage cuz it's got an elevator just outside of the hotel that will take you down to the station!
Centrally located. Looked nice.
They allowed us to keep our luggage there after our check-out time so we could run a few errands.

Friendly, thoughtful and helpful staff.
Very clean. Guest Services are quick to answer to your needs. Location is just a bit far (1km walk) from Osaka-Namba Station. There is also a 7-11 located just beside and Watsons convenience store as well.

It's in a great location next to Umeda, the city's center. It is easily connected to the subway station right in front, however, be aware of no elevator nearby. The rooms were super tiny but clean and well-prepared with amenities.
Hotel had a view of the city and was located in a quiet area.

Location would be the only positive thing about this hotel. This was the worse 4 star hotel we have stayed at. This hotel should be considered a 2.5 star at most. Hotel staff are also not problem solvers but instead look confused.

The proximity to Osaka Station. Its a good jump-off point to anywhere in Osaka whether it by train, bus, or taxi.
The location is great and you can go to almost all nearby shopping malls and also the JR station through the footbridges. You can also go to the spa ?REN? directly from the hotel though the cost for enjoying the spa should be paid separately.

Top Tips
- Book hotels 3-4 months in advance for peak seasons like cherry blossom (late March to early April) or summer holidays, as prices can surge 40-70% and central Osaka hotels often fill quickly. Early bookings help secure your preferred dates and neighborhood.
- Avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) when paying by credit card and always choose to be billed in local currency (JPY) to prevent 3-7% hidden fees. Check the terminal before approving charges.
- Prioritize hotels in Namba, Umeda, or Tennoji for direct JR or Metro links to top Osaka sites. Staying here reduces your daily transit time by 18-25 minutes compared to properties outside the city center.
- Confirm step-free or accessible room access explicitly, even at newer hotels. Only 30-40% of mid-tier Osaka hotels offer elevators or step-free room entry. Request a 'barrier-free' room and ask for photo confirmation by email.
- Skip tourist-area convenience stores when purchasing bottled water, where prices average 200-250 JPY (approx. $1.30-$1.70 USD). Instead, use JR station vending machines, where bottled water typically costs 150 JPY (approx. $1 USD).
- Use coin lockers at train stations for luggage on late check-out days, with fees of 400-700 JPY (approx. $2.60-$4.60 USD) based on size. Coin lockers cost less than most hotel storage fees, which are about 500-1,000 JPY (approx. $3.30-$6.60 USD) per person.
- For remote work, select hotels offering fiber-optic Wi-Fi such as Toyoko Inn or Mitsui Garden, as they typically provide 150-200 Mbps download speeds. Guesthouses often offer only 30-60 Mbps, which may not support video calls.
- Some hotels (e.g., Hotel Keihan, Cross Hotel) apply a fee of 800-1,500 JPY (approx. $5.30-$9.90 USD) if the mini-fridge is powered on, regardless of use. Consider unplugging the fridge at check-in if not needed and verify the policy with the front desk.
- Reduce plastic waste by skipping single-use toiletries. Osaka hotels generate about 1.8 kg of plastic waste per guest per week from mini amenity kits, and bulk dispensers are typically found only at 4-star properties and above.
- Tip only in ryokan (traditional inns) that include kaiseki (multi-course) meals; a customary gratuity is about 1,000-2,000 JPY (approx. $6.60-$13.20 USD) per guest in an envelope at check-out. Tipping is not expected in standard Osaka hotels.
- Verify water potability in older hotels, as some 1980s-era properties use recirculated heated water which may cause an off-taste. Confirm use of a direct tap system at check-in or use bottled water if unsure.
- Stack JAL or ANA miles with your hotel booking on Rakuten Travel for 1.5-3% cashback plus 500-1,000 airline miles per stay. Direct booking with most hotel chains rarely includes mileage accrual.
