Awesome location if you're traveling via train; right across from the S.M Novela station. The staff is friendly and efficient, and do a great job cleaning the room. Great breakfast (maybe a bit overpriced, but Firenze is a pricey city).

Our stay at villa Tolomei felt like a royalty experience. This was by far my favorite stay in entire Italy. The view is phenomenal, dreamy and staff are absolutely the best. The interior and exterior of the hotel is like a palace, total relaxation.
The hotel is a spectacular restoration of a period villa which nicely incorporates the modern conveniences expected in an upscale hotel without destroying the underlying structure. The view of Florence from the dining room was spectacular..

Location. It's right there in the city center.
The hotels location is amazing. Everything is in walking distance, and the views of some of the room are fantastic. The roof and our room over looked the Piazza del Duomo, Firenze. It was within walking distance from the train station.

The hotel was like an art exhibit, each room had its own story. Me and my partner stayed in both the Inferno and Paradisio section of the hotel and both were great! I made a mistake in booking and the hotel found a room with little notice.
The staff is very friendly. The hotel can accommodate late check-out until 2 pm if they have availability on that day. The customer needs to call the front desk to check availability early that morning.

Top Tips
- Florence's city tourist tax is added to all stays: Expect €2-€5 per person, per night (approx. $2-$5 USD), based on hotel star rating. This charge is collected by your hotel at check-in or checkout and is not included in most online rates. Confirm the exact amount with your hotel, as tax rates may change depending on local policy.
- Book 3-6 months ahead for peak stays in Florence (April-October): Room rates can rise 25-40% for last-minute bookings during popular months or major events like Pitti Uomo. Last-minute deals are uncommon, so reserve early for the broadest choice and price advantage.
- Confirm air conditioning availability and usage schedule: Many historic Florence hotels either lack AC or only turn it on from June to September. If traveling outside those dates or sensitive to heat, ask your hotel about AC before booking.
- Explore Oltrarno for authentic local stays and savings: Hotels in this neighborhood, across the Arno River, can be 10-15% less expensive than those around the Duomo, while offering comparable distances to top sights.
- Verify Wi-Fi speed before booking if you need to work: Hotel Wi-Fi in Florence can vary widely. Look for properties with advertised business services or check recent guest reviews specifically mentioning Wi-Fi speed.
- Check for elevator (ascensore) access: Many historic hotels lack elevators or have small ones. If you need step-free access or are traveling with heavy luggage, confirm elevator availability and size before booking, especially for higher floors.
- Expect possible evening noise in popular dining streets: Hotels next to trattorias or bars may have street noise until 23:00-01:00, especially in warm months. For quieter stays, request an upper-floor room or one facing the internal courtyard.
- Tap water in Florence is safe to drink: Most hotels charge for bottled water. Ask if filtered or complimentary water is offered to minimize costs and avoid excess plastic.
- Discover Florence from rooftop terraces: Many boutique hotels offer terraces with Duomo or river views, often costing 15-25% more than standard rooms. Consider if a premium view matches your budget and trip goals.
- Most central Florence hotels are within the ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone): These locations are walkable to key sites but restrict non-resident driving access. Parking is limited or permit-based, so verify your hotel's procedure if arriving by car.
