The staff was great and helped us with everything we needed. The food at the adjoining restaurant was awesome!

Quiet area, large room, large bathroom, blackout blinds
Parking, breakfast, amenities in room
The provided breakfast was good but the dining room was very crowded. Find a seating place was a challenge even with the overflow room provided. The staff coped as best they could.

The staff were awesome.. and the updated (its been a long time since we stayed here) rooms are nice. Location is pretty good. The big soaker tub was lovely, but a bit dangerous with the slippery step, and you couldn't reach the soap, and no bar soap.
Bed was very comfortable. For being so close to the airport, the room was surprisingly quiet (couldn't hear/feel the planes taking off in the room, but could outside) although you can hear other rooms doors closing.

This free breakfast hotel is a no-frills option with limited amenities. It’s a great choice if you’re busy and don’t plan to stay in the hotel much. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the breakfast options are good. Great free shuttle to YVR Airport

Great location and great staff.
Location and clean
Hotel itself was nice and clean, but we did not get any house cleaning service during our three day stay. They never cleaned our room, take the trash out or replace used towels with clean towers. No house cleaning person ever came to our room for 3 days

Nice clean room with a very comfortable bed
We were on the backside from a busy road so it was very quiet for us. Also the heavy drapes allowed it to be very dark at night, making it good for sleeping. The bed was super comfortable and the room was very clean.
The area, staff was outstanding. Hotel wasn?t busy so didn?t have anyone in the rooms on both side, it was nice and quiet

Where to stay in Richmond
Learn about the top neighbourhoods of Richmond
You'll be in the company of a hip, happening crowd in this downtown Vancouver area, home to Robson Street shopping and running south to BC Place, home of the BC Lions Football Club, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the BC Sports Hall of Fame, and sitting adjacent to Rogers Arena, home to hockey's Canucks. Once a warehouse district, today's Yaletown is known for its nightlife and sidewalk cafes. Part of Granville Street, regarded as the city's top downtown entertainment and nighttime hangout spot, runs through the area.
Ranked as one the highest quality of living cities, this coastal downtown area has upbeat city life with a breathtaking view of the Coast Mountains. Cruises embark on great journeys daily from Canada Place, Canada's national icon and a hub of activity, as well as the home of Vancouver Convention Centre. Business travelers also frequent Bentall Centre, one of the largest integrated office complexes in Canada. Visitors can scoop up luxurious finds at the Pacific Centre shopping area or travel a short distance to the nearby BC Place, home of the BC Lions Football Club, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
Staying close to Vancouver International Airport puts you close to everything the city has to offer. You're about nine miles south of downtown, so attractions like Rogers Arena and BC Place Stadium are within a 20-minute drive. And popular attractions like Queen Elizabeth Park and VanDusen Botanical Garden are even closer. A string of golf courses sits to the north and east, so you'll be spoiled for choice.

Top Tips
- Book your hotel 6-8 weeks ahead for summer stays near Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to access rates up to 22% below last-minute prices. Summer (June-August) rates near YVR often rise 30-40% due to high occupancy. Many major hotel brands near YVR allow you to set rate alerts or notifications 6-8 weeks before travel for additional peace of mind.
- Reduce aircraft noise by up to 70% by choosing properties located south of No. 3 Road, such as those near Aberdeen or Westminster Highway. Lower noise levels can especially benefit light sleepers, families with young children, and guests with sensory sensitivities; request a quiet room during booking.
- Avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fees of 3-6% by always selecting to pay in Canadian Dollars (CAD) at hotel front desks or kiosks, even if your card is billed in a foreign currency. Top hotel chains may also offer a local currency payment option when using mobile or self-check-in apps.
- Confirm step-free access or accessible room features by calling the hotel, as only 38% of 3-4 star Richmond hotels clearly list roll-in showers or elevator access online. Most major brands participate in accessibility rating programs; ask if the property has a rating by an organization such as the Rick Hansen Foundation.
- You can save $28-$38 CAD (approx. $21-$29 USD) per night by using public transit instead of hotel parking. YVR-area hotel self-parking averages $32-$42 CAD (approx. $24-$32 USD) per night, while Canada Line transit to YVR costs $4.30 CAD (approx. $3.25 USD) and takes 18-22 minutes from central Richmond. Ask if hotels offer transit passes or luggage storage for added convenience.
- Select hotels with ENERGY STAR or BC Energy Step Code 4+ certifications to experience better summer thermal comfort. During the 2023 heat dome, Step Code 4+ buildings stayed 3-5°C cooler indoors; 22% of Richmond’s newer hotels meet this standard. These buildings also typically have quieter, more efficient HVAC systems; ask about recent upgrades.
- Watch for automatic resort fees, as 17 of 28 YVR-area hotels charge $20-$35 CAD (approx. $15-$26 USD) nightly. These fees often cover services like Wi-Fi or fitness centers, which are complimentary elsewhere. Major brands may waive resort fees for loyalty members, so check program eligibility before booking.
- Prioritize properties that guarantee 100+ Mbps Wi-Fi if you need reliable speeds for remote work. While 68% of business-tier Richmond hotels promote 'high-speed Wi-Fi,' only 41% guarantee connections over 100 Mbps. Ask about business center or meeting room access for higher speeds if required.
- Request a room facing away from Westminster Highway to reduce nighttime noise by 10-15 dB; front-facing rooms average 55-60 dB at night, while rear-facing rooms are typically 40-45 dB. Being on an upper floor and away from main roads can further limit noise exposure.
- Tip housekeeping C$5–C$10 (approx. $4–$7 USD) per stay, not daily, as a single envelope left at checkout is customary in Richmond. Many branded hotels provide a tip envelope or a tipping line on express check-out forms.
- Look for hotels with in-room kettles and refrigerators to save 25–35% on food costs. Preparing meals with groceries can reduce daily food spending to $8–$12 CAD (approx. $6–$9 USD) per person, versus hotel breakfasts at $18–$28 CAD (approx. $14–$21 USD). Many chains also offer microwaves or lobby markets for simple meal prep; check availability before arrival.
- If staying at an older property south of Steveston Highway, verify whether water is potable - 12% of Richmond’s pre-2000 hotels use well water not filtered to municipal standards. Bottled water is available upon request, and major hotel brands usually follow local health regulations; you may also ask for the latest water safety report at reception.
