Convenient way-point for our trip to FL.... Allows dogs and has a good breakfast by hotel standards. Staff was friendly and helpful.
We stay here every couple of months so we can visit our grandchildren. We always stay in one of the suites. The employees are very accommodating, friendly and the hotel is centered nicely. Also, the pool was fantastically warm and we appreciated that!

Friendliness of staff and location of hotel.
Plenty of space in the rooms and bathrooms. Breakfast/coffee area a bit small but seating is new & comfortable. There were a number of people at breakfast, the staff opened up a meeting room for extra seating. There is also comfortable outdoor seating.
The room was clean and cool on arrival. Complimentary breakfast was hot and plentiful. Hot coffee always available in the lobby a definite plus for me!

First, it was not a hotel, it was a cabin. It was nice and clean, but we feel it should have had some kind of table inside, even if it was a fold up table. You had no where to sit down and eat unless you went outside. What if it was raining?

Breakfast was good. They put out snacks in the afternoon. Bottled water was available in the cooler free of charge, as was coffee and hot cocoa.
We loved the location, room was clean, some staff were friendly and went above & beyond like the lady with long curly hair that only worked in the evenings.

Top Tips
- Reserve lodging at least 3 to 8 weeks ahead for Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends. Summersville Lake and West Virginia tourism both report peak weekend demand on the lake and ramps. Some major hotel chains in Summersville may enforce blackout dates for rewards stays during these weekends, so check your loyalty program's calendar before redeeming points.
- Stay within 10 to 15 miles (15 to 25 minutes off-peak) of your planned USACE boat ramp to avoid 20 to 40 minute congestion delays on busy summer weekends. If running late due to traffic, contact your hotel—many major hotel brands offer express check-in or 24/7 front desk support for late arrivals.
- Many local motels have limited paved trailer or boat parking. Message the property for written confirmation of overnight parking and any extra fee (expect $15 to $20 USD per day variance). Brands like Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn in Summersville may list oversized or trailer parking; filter for this amenity and reconfirm before arrival.
- Local full-service restaurants and grocery or convenience stores commonly close earlier than urban areas. Plan groceries, fuel, and medications during daytime to avoid late-night detours. Many large hotels in Summersville offer onsite sundry shops and 24/7 vending. For late essentials, ask at the front desk—some chains partner with local delivery services for groceries and pharmacy items.
- Summersville is a practical base for New River Gorge and Gauley River access, with roughly 35 to 60 minutes' drive depending on specific put-in or take-out points. Some hotel chains may offer shuttle or partner taxi service to New River Gorge or Gauley River put-ins; inquire at booking if transport is needed, especially for groups or those requiring accessible vehicles.
- Rural cellular coverage and Wi-Fi can be inconsistent. Ask the property for typical Wi-Fi speeds (upload/download) and a quiet room option if you need reliable remote work. If you require fast uploads for remote work, ask about guest business center hours or lobby Wi-Fi speed—chain hotels typically have better infrastructure than small independents.
