Top Tips
- Book 3 to 6 months ahead for stays during the Permian Basin International Oil Show (PBIOS) to secure on-site or nearby hotels, as local rooms often sell out quickly. Rates can rise sharply within 60 days of the event start.
- Arrange ground transportation from Midland International Airport (MAF) to Odessa, a 25 to 35 minute drive, since most Odessa hotels do not provide scheduled airport shuttles. Rideshare and taxi services are available at the terminal.
- Select hotels along the I-20 and Loop 338 corridor for truck or oversized vehicle parking and onsite laundry, which are common features for extended-stay travelers and workers. Confirm parking space dimensions if bringing large vehicles.
- Ask about weekly or contractor rates when booking 7 or more nights; major Odessa hotel brands often offer extended-stay discounts of 10-20% versus nightly rates. Request details at booking to compare available options.
- Compare weekday (Monday-Thursday) with weekend (Friday-Sunday) hotel pricing. Oilfield activity often drives up midweek rates by 20% or more, while weekends typically offer lower prices.
- If you need continuous power for medical equipment or work, confirm backup generator availability or request a room near the front desk. Request an accessible room if you need features like step-free or ramp access, as most major hotels in Odessa offer ADA-compliant options.
- Verify guest laundry room hours and usage fees before booking if you plan a longer stay. Many Odessa hotels offer 24-hour access and coin-operated machines at typical costs of $15 to $25 per load, and some now provide mobile app access to check laundry room status.
