Top Tips
- Hotels in Wyomissing and West Reading offer more major chains, a wider selection of restaurants, and free onsite parking. These neighborhoods are typically 2-3 miles (about 5-10 minutes by car) from downtown Reading. Compare location and parking inclusions before booking to match convenience with your itinerary.
- Event schedules at Santander Arena or FirstEnergy Stadium often limit last-minute hotel options with surge pricing; rates can rise 20-40% and availability drops on event nights. Check venue calendars for possible schedule conflicts before locking in your dates.
- Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) is about 30-40 miles (45-60 minutes) from Reading, often providing a shorter drive than from Philadelphia International (PHL), which is about 60-75 miles away. Compare flight choices, travel time, and expected traffic conditions when selecting your airport.
- Parking at downtown Reading hotels usually carries a nightly fee of $15 to $25 for municipal lots, while chain hotels in nearby suburbs typically offer free onsite parking. Confirm exact parking charges and in/out privileges when booking if you plan to drive or rent a car.
- BARTA public buses provide limited late-night service, especially after arena or stadium events, with last departures often before 23:00. Arrange a rideshare, taxi, or confirm the availability of hotel shuttle service in advance for late returns.
- Older or converted downtown hotels may differ in accessible features; some properties lack step-free access or modern elevators. Request written confirmation of accessible room or elevator access during booking, and ask about features like roll-in showers or visual alarms if you have specific requirements.
