Top Tips
- Book hotel rooms 2-6 months ahead for the NYRA summer meet (mid-July to early September), as rooms often sell out on big race days and rates spike for the Travers Stakes weekend in late August. For chain hotels, check cancellation policies in advance to keep your options flexible.
- Expect SPAC concert nights (June to September) to raise hotel rates and create long waits for taxis or ride apps, especially after shows. Use a hotel-arranged shuttle, park-and-ride option, or pre-book roundtrip transport for faster returns.
- Municipal parking lots near Broadway offer reliable overnight parking, often costing less than downtown hotel parking, which can exceed $15 per night. Pay stations are located within one to two blocks of most major hotels.
- Plan about 30-40 minutes for ground transfer from Albany International Airport (ALB) to downtown Saratoga Springs. Rent a car or pre-book a hotel-affiliated shuttle for arrivals before or after regular taxi hours, and verify pickup location and schedule details with your hotel.
- Step-free access in historic inns is limited, as accessible rooms are often only on the ground floor. Confirm in writing that an accessible room meeting your needs—such as a roll-in shower or visual alarms—is reserved before your arrival.
- National chains and extended-stay hotels typically offer more reliable Wi-Fi and business desks. Verify high-speed internet and workspace availability before arrival to support productive remote work.
- Allow an extra 15-45 minutes for transfers during race days and major concert evenings due to congestion on Broadway and around the Race Course. If you are staying downtown, consider walking under 1 mile or using a hotel shuttle when available.
