Don?t usually stay at BW but this hotel was outstanding. Get the king suite. We stayed at Holiday Inn express most of our trip but as explained to me BW Plus and Premier hotels have all the extras and would have stayed at them had they been available.

Top Tips
- Montana’s 0% statewide sales tax lets you save up to 7% compared to nearby states, especially on outdoor gear or groceries bought in Missoula. Review hotel receipts for local lodging or resort fees, as these are separate and may apply.
- Missoula International Airport (MSO) is 8 miles (13 km) west of downtown, with a typical drive time of 12-20 minutes. Rental cars offer the fastest transfer, but rideshares and taxis operate limited hours—confirm late-night options directly if arriving after 22:00, or check if your hotel provides shuttle service.
- Major Missoula events such as University of Montana home football games and May commencement can fill hotels to near capacity and trigger 35-50% rate increases. Book 6-12 weeks in advance to secure rooms at better rates, and check if hotel loyalty members get early access or price guarantees.
- Southgate Mall and Reserve Street hotel areas offer free surface parking and quick access to I-90. Downtown hotels near Caras Park are close to riverfront trails and dining, but parking is usually limited or $15 to $30 per night. Check if accessible parking can be reserved in advance.
- From June to September, wildfire smoke may reduce air quality. Visit AirNow.gov for daily updates. Choose hotels with central AC or filtered ventilation, as rooms with only opening windows are less effective during smoke events. Ask if HEPA filters or air purifiers are available, especially if you have respiratory needs.
- Missoula tap water meets all EPA standards for safe drinking, according to the city’s annual water quality report. Bring a refillable bottle to reduce waste, and use in-room ice machines for convenience.
- Rooms facing the river or interior courtyards are generally quieter than those by Reserve Street, Broadway, or the rail corridor. Request these when booking to avoid street and train noise, and specify both room preference and accessibility needs if required.
- For large vehicles or RVs, hotels south of the Clark Fork River or on Reserve Street typically offer larger surface parking areas. Downtown garages are narrower and charge $15 to $30 per night—verify space size and ask if a reservation is needed for oversized or accessible parking.
- Hotels within 0.3 miles of Caras Park give direct access to 5-10 mile riverfront trails for jogging or cycling, keeping you off city roads. For safety, ask your hotel about trail lighting, current conditions, and if they offer bike loans or secure storage.
- Most Missoula hotels allow pets, but pet-designated rooms are limited and usually carry a $25–$50 nightly fee. Reserve in advance, confirm pet size or breed restrictions, and ask about nearby parks or pet relief areas like McCormick Park.
