There was a group of us needing 4 different rooms, and they were able to put us all on the same floor, our rooms were next to each other, I really liked we could pop across the hall, or just next door to get to each room.

Top Tips
- Book beachfront hotels 6 to 8 weeks before major holidays such as Memorial Day or July 4th to access rates 15-30% lower and ensure greater availability. This advance booking helps avoid last-minute surcharges common during peak Gulfport travel periods.
- Verify whether resort fees apply. 90% of Gulfport beachfront and mid-tier hotels, such as Hilton Garden Inn and Best Western, typically do not charge these fees, which differs from other Gulf Coast destinations. Confirm at booking to prevent surprise charges.
- Stay north of Highway 90, where hotels like Residence Inn or select B&Bs report 20-30% quieter ambient noise compared to beachfront properties. This setting benefits light sleepers and remote workers seeking reduced disruption.
- During hurricane season (June-November), regularly monitor the Gulfport Electric Power Board outage map, which updates every 15 minutes. Relocate if a power outage lasts more than 3 hours to maintain safety and comfort.
- Prefer hotels featuring NOAA Weather Radio and storm shutters, especially from June to November. New coastal constructions post-2005 are required by Gulfport regulations to install shutters capable of withstanding Category 1 or stronger hurricanes.
- Avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) at hotel desks when using international credit cards. Opting to pay in US dollars prevents hidden conversion fees, typically 5-8% extra. Always confirm your transaction currency at payment time.
- Request rooms with step-free entrances ahead of arrival, as only 40% of Gulfport’s 140+ accommodations meet full ADA standards for step-free access. Contact the hotel to confirm ramp access and accessible bathroom features.
- Gulfport tap water meets EPA standards but contains 12-15 ppm sulfur, which generates a noticeable odor. Sensitive guests can request in-room water filters or use filtered pitchers provided by many top hotels on request.
- Median hotel Wi-Fi speeds in Gulfport are 25-40 Mbps. During peak hours (7-9 PM), expect latency to increase by about 40%. For stable HD video calls, use a wired connection if available or schedule meetings outside peak times.
- Tip housekeeping $2-$5 per night in Gulfport, a rate lower than the $5-$10 typical in nearby Biloxi or New Orleans. Place cash in an envelope labeled 'For Housekeeping' to guarantee it reaches your service staff.
- Saltwater pools, offered by hotels such as Sandpiper Suites and Hilton, help minimize skin and eye irritation, especially in Gulfport’s 80%+ humidity from May to September. Seventy percent of hotels still use chlorine, so request saltwater availability if preferred.
- Clarify parking fees before booking. While downtown event venues may charge $15-$18 per day, about 60% of Gulfport properties like Residence Inn and Best Western provide free onsite parking for hotel guests.
