Where to stay in Biloxi
Learn about the top neighbourhoods of Biloxi
On the southern coast of Mississippi, the Biloxi Coast is known for its cluster of glittering casinos overlooking the waterfront. But there's more to this city than its gargantuan gaming floors, including a string of sugar-white beaches. One of the area's newest attractions is the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum Of Art, designed by architect Frank Gehry. Keesler Air Force Base, one of the area's biggest military installations, is minutes away. Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is 15 miles west.
The proximity of Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is a major plus of this area, but there are plenty of other attractions as well. If you're looking for bargains on brand-name merchandise, head to the sprawling Gulfport Premium Outlets. This is the home of the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies, where kids can come nose-to-nose with dolphins.
Interstate 10 runs directly through this inland area that's perched along the western edge of the sprawling Mississippi National Wildlife Refuge. Keesler Air Force Base is a short drive southwest, while DeSoto National Forest recreation is a short drive northwest.

In Biloxi, hotel prices generally decrease as the check-in date approaches until about three weeks before, when many premium options are often fully booked. Top Tips
- Book beachfront hotels in Biloxi 45 to 60 days before a summer weekend to secure baseline rates, as prices often rise 35-50% within two weeks of arrival. This lead time helps travelers avoid last-minute rate spikes common at local chains.
- Expect a 12.75% total tax and fee on your Biloxi hotel stay. This includes a 7% state tax, 2.5% city tax, and 3.25% coastal impact fee. Awareness of these charges supports budget planning and aligns with transparency practiced by major hotel brands.
- Hotels along Howard Avenue, one to two blocks inland from Beach Boulevard, reduce nighttime noise by 15-20 dB compared to waterfront properties. This location is suitable for guests seeking rest beyond the core tourist zone.
- If remote work is required, verify hotel Wi-Fi speed before booking. Non-casino hotels average 45-65 Mbps, while casino hotels may drop to 20-35 Mbps during peak hours, so checking ahead helps ensure consistent connectivity.
- Decline Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) on card charges by selecting 'charge in USD' to avoid a 3-5% foreign transaction markup. This helps international guests manage travel costs and follows standard best practice.
- Select properties with step-free entrances on East Beach Drive and request a ground-floor or accessible room, as 70% of hotels in this area lack elevators or step-free access. This improves comfort and convenience for travelers with mobility needs.
- Save $15 to $18 per day by parking for free at Walmart off I-110 (exit 5) or at the Hancock Whitney Center lot after 6 PM, instead of city garages. These parking options are often recommended by frequent travelers and local hotel staff.
- Use in-room filters or bottled water for drinking, as Biloxi's tap water exceeded the EPA lead action level in 12% of tests from 2020 to 2023. This supports guest health and aligns with hotel safety protocols.
- Tip 15% at hotel restaurants in Biloxi, as this matches local service norms, which differ from the 18-20% typical in other casino-resort areas. Following this custom ensures staff are appropriately recognized.
- Check AC reliability between June and September when Biloxi's average humidity is 80-92%. Properties built before 2005 account for 1 in 8 guest complaints about AC failure, so confirm recent maintenance or choose newer buildings for comfort.
- Avoid $3 to $5 surcharges by withdrawing cash at ATMs inside Keesler Federal Credit Union on Dedeaux Road instead of offsite machines. Many hotel chains share this tip for better expense management.
- Request a room in a residential wing or on a high floor away from casino floors in combined properties to reduce noise issues by up to 40%. This location is especially preferred by families and light sleepers.
