Although we didn't use the pool, it was very large and had extra hours just for adults from 10:30-12pm. We also had the two queen room which was larger than most hotels we've stayed in lately and had everything we needed.

Top Tips
- Book hotels 4 to 6 weeks in advance for Tulip Time (early May) to avoid typical 35-50% rate surges. Properties near Windmill Island Gardens can increase from $149-$199 to $269-$349 per night during the festival.
- Choose west-side motels like Shoreline Motel for direct Lake Michigan beach access under $175 per night in shoulder season, saving 12 to 18 minutes walking time compared to east-side chain hotels.
- Verify if your hotel includes Holland Boardwalk parking, as self-parking at 8th Street Ramp costs $15-$18 daily, potentially adding over $90 for a 5-night stay if not validated.
- Avoid dynamic currency conversion markups of 4-7% at some B&Bs near Tulip Plaza by selecting 'charge in USD' when paying with a non-USD credit card.
- Request a quiet rear room at hotels near the Riverfront Festival Market during July weekends, as crowds can generate 65-75 dB of noise. Rear-facing rooms reduce noise to 40-45 dB.
- Consider Holland Energy Fund-certified hotels like Embassy Suites by Hilton Holland for verified sustainability. These 12 properties reduce water use by 20-30% compared to non-certified hotels.
- Note that 70% of pre-1980 downtown lodgings lack elevators. For step-free access, book at Hawarden Inn or Holiday Inn, which offer full step-free rooms.
- Expect median Wi-Fi upload speeds of 18-22 Mbps at Holland hotels, sufficient for video calls but not ideal for large remote work file transfers.
- Tip housekeeping $5-$15 per day by leaving the money in your room with a note, as unstaffed front desks mean tips left at the end of your stay are often missed.
- Prioritize properties with on-site laundry if staying more than 4 nights, as only 30% of hotels offer guest washers and outsourced services cost $15-$25 per load.
- Request rooms above grade during May-June to avoid riverfront mold risk, as relative humidity exceeds 80% for 18-22 days per month in spring, and basement rooms in older inns may show visible mold.
- Stack AAA/CAA discounts with weekday corporate rates for 12-18% extra savings; 18 of 27 chain hotels honor dual discounts, especially for Sunday-Thursday stays.
