Allowing pets!!! We also had a good experience with every person in the hotel. One gentleman did stand out though. In the morning he was vacuuming the hallway carpet when my dog and I exited the lift he shut the vacuum off and allowed us to pass. Perfect.
Location, convenience of on-site dining, ample space in my room. Very comfortable.

Top Tips
- Rates for June-August weekends in Freeport often rise 15-30 days before arrival, especially during the 4th of July week. Book 30-60 days in advance to secure more room options and avoid price surges at national chains and local inns.
- Reserve hotels with complimentary or dedicated parking if you plan to explore Freeport by car. Properties on US-1/Route 1 typically provide free onsite parking, while downtown accommodations often require paid parking or have limited spaces.
- Choose hotels within 0.5-1.0 mile of L.L.Bean and the Route 1/Main Street shopping corridor to maximize walkability and avoid event parking stress during busy weekends.
- If you need step-free access, confirm this when booking. Many historic downtown inns lack elevators, but most chains near Route 1 offer accessible rooms and ramp or elevator entry.
- Municipal water in Freeport is potable, and chain hotels follow state water safety standards. For small B&Bs or private rentals using well water, verify drinkability at check-in.
- Many shops and restaurants in Freeport stay open until 9-10 pm in summer but may close by 7 pm in winter. Check current hours for late-night dining or shopping, as chains with onsite restaurants may offer evening service year-round.
- Arrive car-free via Amtrak Downeaster, which stops 400 m from downtown Freeport. Trains connect directly to Portland (20-30 min) and Boston (2-2.5 h).
- Portland International Jetport (PWM) is 25-35 minutes from Freeport by taxi, rideshare, or rental car (20-25 miles). On Fridays after 3 pm, expect possible delays on I-295 northbound.
