Methodology: learn how we calculate these charts
The charts “Which days have the lowest hotel rates?”, “Which month has the best hotel rates?”, “How far in advance should I book?” and “How much do hotels cost by star rating?” are built from the nightly rates Priceline customers actually paid for hotels in Twin Falls, grouped by check-in month, day of the week, how far ahead they booked (up to 90 days) and the hotel’s star class.
Where a place has too few bookings to fill every point in a chart, we borrow the shape of the curve from nearby places with similar prices and fit it to the rates booked here.
Because past rates don’t reflect today’s market, each chart is then fitted to the rates found in this page’s current search: its value at the search’s own check-in month, day and booking lead time is set to the current good-deal rate.
The Good to Know deal cards and the hotels listed on this page come directly from that recent search, not from historical bookings.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the typical check-in and check-out times for hotels in Twin Falls?
Most Twin Falls hotels offer check-in between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM, with check-out typically by 11:00 AM or 12:00 PM. Early check-in or late check-out may be possible for an additional fee, usually $15 to $50, but these are subject to availability. Confirm early or late check-in directly with the hotel.
What taxes and mandatory fees apply to hotel stays in Twin Falls?
Expect a combined tax rate of 8% to 17% on room rates, covering Idaho's 6% state sales tax and local lodging taxes of 2% to 7%. Some properties may add a tourism enhancement or resort fee, typically $15 to $20 per night.
How do hotel prices in Twin Falls vary by season?
Mid-range hotel rates increase by 20% to 50% during the peak summer season (June-August) compared to off-peak winter months (December-February). For example, a mid-range room can rise from $80 to $100 to $120 to $175 per night.
What are the main differences between neighborhoods for hotel stays in Twin Falls?
Downtown Twin Falls hotels offer more walkability and access to restaurants, with rates typically $100 to $180 per night. Hotels near the I-84 corridor are often more budget-friendly, ranging from $60 to $100 per night, but most attractions require a car.
What is the typical Wi-Fi speed and availability in Twin Falls hotels?
Most hotels in Twin Falls provide free Wi-Fi with average speeds of 10 to 50 Mbps. Higher-end properties or business hotels generally offer faster connections in the 25 to 50 Mbps range.
Are there any safety concerns or scams that hotel guests should be aware of in Twin Falls?
Twin Falls lodging areas are generally safe. As in any city, be cautious of unsolicited offers for tours or services, and secure personal belongings. Local police data show low crime incidents, though some older motels may lack in-room safes.
How do weather and events impact hotel availability and pricing in Twin Falls?
Major events like the Twin Falls County Fair in August or Bridge Day in October can raise hotel prices by 20% to 100% and sharply limit availability. Winter weather also affects accessibility to some areas.
What is the accessibility like for hotels in Twin Falls?
About 70% of hotels in Twin Falls offer step-free access. Accessible rooms with roll-in showers are available in approximately 55% of properties. Most U.S. hotels built after 1991 must meet ADA standards. Confirm specific accessibility features directly with your hotel.
What are the typical payment and currency norms for hotels in Twin Falls?
Most Twin Falls hotels accept major credit cards like Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Expect a pre-authorization hold of $50 to $100 per day for incidentals. Hotels may offer Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), which can add a 2% to 3% fee, so paying in USD is recommended.
What is the cancellation and flexibility policy for hotels in Twin Falls?
Cancellation policies vary, but most hotels offer free cancellation 24 to 48 hours prior to arrival for standard bookings. Advance purchase rates may provide 10% to 20% savings but are usually non-refundable.
Are Twin Falls hotels pet-friendly, and what are the associated fees?
About 40% to 80% of Twin Falls hotels are pet-friendly, commonly allowing dogs. Pet fees average $15 to $50 per stay, often with a two-pet limit. Chains like La Quinta and Motel 6 consistently allow pets. Contact your hotel to confirm pet policies.
Do hotels in Twin Falls offer free parking?
Most hotels in Twin Falls include free parking, even downtown. Some may charge $15 per night for oversized vehicles or RVs. Parking permits are typically not required.
How reliable is hotel Wi-Fi for remote work in Twin Falls?
Hotel Wi-Fi typically offers median download speeds of 25 to 50 Mbps, suitable for basic remote work. Rural areas may experience 20% to 30% downtime during storms. Annual power outages average 2 to 4 hours, which can impact extended work sessions. Public libraries provide faster Wi-Fi at 50 to 100 Mbps.
What are the typical policies for families and children in Twin Falls hotels?
Many hotels allow children under 18 to stay free with adults, a policy found at around 90% of chain hotels. Some properties may charge a $15 to $25 per night fee for extra beds or cribs.
Are sustainability certifications common among Twin Falls hotels?
LEED or Green Key certifications are rare in Twin Falls hotel listings. Some properties mention linen reuse programs, but extensive sustainability practices or utility metering disclosures are not widely reported. For green program details, contact individual hotels directly.
Top Tips
- Book your hotel 45-60 days before arrival to secure the lowest rates. Prices for Twin Falls hotels typically increase by 18-22% within 30 days of stay during peak season (June-August), but early booking captures 12-15% lower median rates. If attending major events like Shoshone Falls After Dark, plan to book even further in advance to avoid spikes in demand.
- Choose accommodations south of Falls Avenue to reduce travel time to outdoor attractions. Hotels in this area, such as those near Centennial Waterfront Park, cut drive time to Shoshone Falls and Perrine Bridge by 8-12 minutes and can save about 15% in daily mileage and fuel over a three-day stay. Many also offer scenic views or direct access to walking trails.
- Check actual Wi-Fi speeds with the hotel before booking if you plan to work remotely. While the median advertised speed is 50 Mbps, budget motels (e.g., Super 8, Motel 6) average 18-25 Mbps with evening slowdowns. For sustained 75+ Mbps, look for properties advertising a business center or fiber and request a speed test screenshot during peak hours.
- Select to be charged in USD when paying with a foreign card at hotel front desks to avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), which adds a hidden 3-5% fee. DCC fees usually appear as a separate line on your receipt for reference.
- Request step-free rooms as early as possible, as only 38% of Twin Falls hotels (14 of 37) are fully ADA-compliant. Properties built before 2005 may lack elevators or roll-in showers. When calling 72 hours ahead, also ask about features such as visual alarms or accessible parking to match your needs.
- Ask if independently owned lodgings (e.g., Twin Falls Inn, Sunset Manor) accept cash to avoid 4.5-6% surcharges on card payments. Confirm accepted bill denominations and any required deposit amount during booking, as policies may vary.
- Use refillable bottles with Twin Falls municipal tap water, which meets EPA standards and has had no boil advisories since 2016. Many hotels offer water bottle filling stations or filtered water in lobbies—this can reduce plastic waste by around 2.3 lbs per five-night stay.
- Avoid booking directly adjacent to I-84 exits 122-124 since hotels within 0.3 miles report nighttime road noise levels of 55-62 dB, over WHO sleep guidelines. Ask for a room facing away from the highway or choose properties buffered by terrain or commercial zones for a 10-15 dB decrease in noise.
- Include Idaho’s lodging tax when comparing prices. Twin Falls applies an 8% city tax plus a 6% county lodging tax (14% total), below the state average of 15.5%. Always confirm total charges at checkout, since online travel agencies often exclude local surcharges.
- Prioritize hotels offering onsite parking to avoid added fees. While 92% of hotels provide free self-parking, some chain properties near Perrine Bridge may charge $15 to $18 per day. Some locations also offer electric vehicle charging stations, so verify parking and charging policies before booking.
- Verify check-in time flexibility if you expect to arrive late via I-84. Rural staffing limits mean 18% of non-chain motels may strictly enforce a 6:00 PM check-in. Properties with key box or after-hours access (e.g., Best Western Plus) allow arrivals after 10:00 PM. Let the hotel know about your late arrival and check whether nighttime security or lobby staff are present.
- Pick hotels with strong outdoor lighting for safer walking, especially west of Blue Lakes Blvd, where street lighting is limited. Properties with perimeter lighting (e.g., Shilo Inn) reduce nighttime fall or accident risk by about 30%. Carry a small flashlight or use your phone when walking in poorly lit areas, and verify if onsite staff are available in the evenings.
