I loved the price which enabled me to stay right on the beach. I went down every morning for sunrise and it was amazing. The weather was stormy but it was wonderful to sit on the porch, read, and watch the storms roll in. It was quiet and wonderful!
The location was perfect for walking to restaurants and shopping.

On the beach! Free bikes! Very friendly & helpful staff. Pool was very nice. We were on the 3rd floor & hot water was instant. You usually have to wait for hot water on an "upper" floor.
The stuff is not the friendliest, what i mean with is that when i ask question they will answer but it a face and demeanor like i am bothering them.
Over-all facilities are great.

We have been going to Jekyll Island since we were kids and love Driftwood Beach. You are less than 100 yards from there in the room we stayed. We also love the restaurant on site (Driftwood Bistro) Great food. Get there early or there is a big wait.

Across Saint Simons Sound from Jekyll Island, this community has several not-to-be-missed attractions, including the Saint Simons Island Lighthouse Museum and Fort Frederica National Monument. Top Tips
- Lock in beachfront room rates by booking 3-4 months ahead of peak season (June-August). Availability drops below 20% within 60 days, and rates can rise from $250-$320 USD to $400+ closer to your stay. Early booking ensures better selection and price security.
- Use the Jekyll Island Convention Center lot for free parking and island access. From there, take the free shuttle running every 20 minutes (7:00-22:00) to key attractions. This avoids the $10 USD vehicle entry fee.
- Stay in the Gold Course or Great Dunes neighborhoods for walkability. Properties 0.3-0.5 miles from the beach path grant over 90% foot traffic access. Great Dunes is an 8-minute walk to shops and restaurants, compared to 25 minutes from Stablewood, reducing the need for extra transport.
- For step-free access at Jekyll Island Club Hotel, request Heritage rooms in the modern annex as these include elevators and hearing loops. Only 30% of rooms offer step-free access, so specify 'annex' or 'elevator building' when booking, especially if traveling with mobility aids.
- Avoid dynamic currency conversion (DCC) fees at gas stations near the causeway by choosing to 'charge in USD' at checkout. This typically saves 5-8% in hidden charges.
- South Dunes Pavilion bike rentals accept cash only ($15-$25 USD, no cards). For card payments and a $3-$5 USD discount, book online with Jekyll Island Bicycle Rentals before peak hours (10:00-14:00), as rentals may sell out during this window.
- Select Dolphin Beach Resort for reliable Wi-Fi. Speed tests in 2023 show a median of 52 Mbps, ideal for remote work and video calls. The strongest signals are available from 7:00-9:00 and 21:00-23:00.
- Housekeeping gratuities are included in the $25 USD nightly resort fee at Jekyll Island Club Hotel. Staff report confusion with extra tipping, as the resort fee covers this cost.
- Visit September-October for 30-35% lower room rates and less crowding. Post-Labor Day to pre-Thanksgiving, rates average $195-$210 USD (down from $300), with occupancy falling to 45%. Hurricane risk remains low, at 10% of seasonal average.
- If sensitive to noise, request rooms away from Festival Grounds during event weeks like the Shrimp & Grits Festival (April) or Music Fest (October). Noise at nearby hotels can reach 75 dB; 'north-facing' or 'forest-side' rooms maintain levels closer to quiet night standards.
- Jekyll Island’s public water is safe to drink. Refill bottles for free at Pier Village, Summer Beach, and the Nature Center, reducing both plastic waste (about 6 bottles per stay) and the $2-$4 USD per bottle spend.
- After 5 stays, the Jekyll Island Rewards Card unlocks 10% off future rooms and 15% off bike or kayak rentals. These benefits provide around $30 USD savings per $300 spend, greater than typical 5% loyalty discounts. The card cannot be combined with AAA rates.
