The location was the only thing I liked about the hotel.
Seems newly renovated and well maintained. We stay often in SLO as parents of a current Cal Poly student and alumni ourselves. We have never stayed at this hotel. We will definitely return to this location.

The community celebrates its bounty every year with a procession of festivals, the most famous of which is the California Mid-State Fair. San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport is a 40-minute drive south.

Top Tips
- Plan your airport logistics: San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP) is about a 20–30 minute drive from Morro Bay. Evening flights may have limited rideshare or taxi availability, so pre-book a rental or shuttle. Many hotels list approved shuttle or partner services on their websites; confirm availability for arrivals after 19:00.
- Book hotels 30–60 days before summer weekends and the Morro Bay Harbor Festival (usually September) to avoid sold-out rooms on the Embarcadero. Direct booking may unlock flexible cancellation or local dining credits during festival dates—compare official site benefits.
- Expect cooler coastal temperatures and morning fog; average summer highs are in the low to mid 60s °F. Pack a light jacket and plan outdoor hotel activities for mid to late afternoon. Many hotels offer in-room heating or provide loaner blankets for outdoor amenities in the evenings.
- Request a bay-facing room for harbor views, but note these typically command measurable premiums and may face active waterfront traffic and restaurant noise. If sensitive to noise, request a room set back from the Embarcadero or ask the front desk about noise-reduction amenities available upon check-in.
- Expect reduced linen and housekeeping services during dry months due to regional water conservation. Use digital housekeeping requests when available to align with local conservation efforts, and confirm at check-in if daily service is needed or if extra towel or linen charges apply.
- Verify accessibility specifics in advance: many Morro Bay motels and historic inns have exterior corridors or stairs. Contact the hotel ahead with specific accessibility requests—some chains offer visual alarms and have staff trained in accessible guest support.
- Budget for pet fees: several Embarcadero and nearby hotels accept pets but levy a non-refundable fee or nightly charge, commonly $25–$50 USD per night; confirm the exact amount and rules (size, number, crate) directly with the hotel. Some hotels provide pet-welcome packages or maps to nearby coastal trails—ask at reception if available.
- Decline Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) if offered to charge in non-USD to avoid 1.5–3% poor exchange rates; use chip-enabled credit cards and prefer tap-to-pay where secure. Hotel staff can assist with payment troubleshooting and advise on the nearest secure ATM if needed.
- Use Morro Bay as a base for short drives: Montana de Oro State Park is approximately 6–8 miles south (a 10–15 minute drive), and Cambria/San Simeon (Hearst Castle area) is roughly 25–35 miles north (a 30–45 minute drive); public transit options are limited. Front desks commonly supply up-to-date park passes or printed driving itineraries—ask ahead for current offers.
- Confirm on-site parking availability and any associated fees at booking; many Embarcadero-area hotels have small lots or reserved spaces and may charge a nightly fee or direct you to municipal lots a short walk away, as street and waterfront parking is constrained on summer weekends. EV chargers are limited in central Morro Bay—verify on-site or public station access before arrival.
