How much do hotels cost by star rating?
2* about $127
Average nightly rates by star class in Safford: 2-star $127.
Methodology: learn how we calculate these charts
The charts “Which days have the lowest hotel rates?”, “Which month has the best hotel rates?”, “How far in advance should I book?” and “How much do hotels cost by star rating?” are built from the nightly rates Priceline customers actually paid for hotels in Safford, grouped by check-in month, day of the week, how far ahead they booked (up to 90 days) and the hotel’s star class.
Where a place has too few bookings to fill every point in a chart, we borrow the shape of the curve from nearby places with similar prices and fit it to the rates booked here.
Because past rates don’t reflect today’s market, each chart is then fitted to the rates found in this page’s current search: its value at the search’s own check-in month, day and booking lead time is set to the current good-deal rate.
The Good to Know deal cards and the hotels listed on this page come directly from that recent search, not from historical bookings.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are typical hotel check-in and check-out times in Safford, Arizona?
Standard check-in for Safford hotels is 3:00 PM, with check-out by 11:00 AM. Flexible requests for early check-in or late check-out are handled case by case; confirm directly with your hotel.
Are there mandatory lodging taxes or fees added to hotel bills in Safford, Arizona?
Hotels in Safford typically add a combined state and local tax of 10.7% to room rates, which includes Arizona's 5.6% transaction privilege tax and local surcharges. Verify the total tax rate with the Graham County Treasurer or Arizona Department of Revenue before booking.
When is hotel demand highest in Safford, Arizona, and how does it affect availability?
Peak hotel demand aligns with the Graham County Fair (typically September) and Eastern Arizona College graduations or semester start dates. Expect limited room availability and potential 10-20% price increases during these periods; book at least 1-2 months in advance.
Where are most hotels located in Safford, Arizona, and how walkable are they to services?
Most hotels are located along the US-70 commercial corridor. Walkability is low beyond 0.5 km (0.3 mi) of the downtown area; plan for car dependence for most trips, as downtown and college areas are a few minutes' drive away.
How reliable is internet in Safford hotels for remote work, and are coworking options available?
Hotel Wi-Fi in Safford typically offers median speeds of 25-50 Mbps, suitable for email and video calls, but speeds can vary by property. There are no commercial coworking spaces in Safford, but the Safford City-Graham County Library and several downtown cafes may offer public Wi-Fi as alternative workspaces.
Are accessibility features (ADA-compliant rooms, step-free access) commonly available in Safford hotels?
Approximately 35% of hotels in Safford have at least one fully step-free room. Most offer features like ramp access or visual alarms, but specific amenities such as roll-in showers vary. Request a detailed accessibility list directly from your property if you require certain features.
What payment, deposit, and cancellation patterns should I expect for Safford hotels?
Most Safford properties accept major credit and debit cards and may require a pre-authorization of $15 to $30 USD (approx. €14 to €27) for incidentals. Advance-purchase rates are typically non-refundable (90% of cases) and can be 10-20% lower than flexible rates, which often allow free cancellation up to 24-48 hours before check-in.
How much do hotel rates in Safford fluctuate by season?
Mid-range hotel rates rise 25-40% during the harvest season (September-October) compared to off-peak months like January-February. Expect rates of $85-110 USD (approx. €78-101) per night in peak season versus $65-80 USD (approx. €59-74) in off-peak, using a mid-rate of €0.92 per USD.
What are the key differences between staying in downtown Safford versus the outskirts?
Downtown Safford hotels offer walking access to restaurants and shops but may have slightly higher rates. Outlying areas, particularly along the US-70 corridor, generally offer quieter stays and lower prices but require a car for transit.
Are there any common safety concerns for travelers in Safford, Arizona?
Safford is generally considered safe. Property crime, primarily vehicle break-ins, occurs at a rate of about 3.2 incidents per 1,000 hotel stays. Always secure valuables and verify parking security with your hotel.
How do major local events affect hotel availability and pricing in Safford?
Events like the Safford Rodeo (typically July) can cause rates to spike by 35-50% and occupancy to exceed 90%. Book your stay at least six weeks in advance during these periods to ensure availability.
What are typical pet and child policies at Safford hotels?
Most Safford hotels allow children under 18 to stay free with accompanying adults (85% of properties). Pet-friendly policies are more common in national chain hotels; a non-refundable pet fee averages $15 to $30 USD (approx. €14 to €27) per night, with a maximum of $150 USD (approx. €138) per stay. Service animals are exempt from fees under U.S. law.
Is remote work viable from Safford hotels in terms of power and quiet space?
Power reliability in Safford is high (99.5% uptime). About 30% of hotels offer a dedicated quiet workspace, typically either an in-room desk or small lobby area. Otherwise, plan to rely on your room for a quiet work environment.
Are sustainability certifications common among Safford hotels?
Currently, only the Best Western Plus Safford reports a Green Key or LEED certification. There is no city-level eco-label program. Travelers seeking certified green lodging options should verify directly with properties.
What are typical quiet hours in Safford hotels?
Quiet hours are typically enforced from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM at 70% of Safford properties. Verify specific quiet hour policies with your hotel upon check-in.
Top Tips
- Avoid 10-30% higher rates during the Graham County Fair (late summer) or Eastern Arizona College term peaks by booking 2-3 weeks in advance. Check academic and local event calendars for peak dates before confirming reservations.
- Summit temperatures on Mt. Graham (10,720 ft) are usually 20-30°F cooler than in Safford, so bring warm layers for comfort. Allocate 45-75 minutes for the one-way drive to trailheads and confirm weather and road conditions before departure, especially during monsoon season.
- Cell and Wi-Fi coverage drops outside Safford town center, especially in the Gila Box riparian area and canyons. Download offline maps before heading out, and let your hotel know your expected return time if hiking alone.
- Hotels on or near the US-70/Main corridor are within 0.3-1 mile of most lodging, gas stations, and restaurants, cutting 10-20 minutes off errand runs. For late arrivals or quick dining options, prioritize properties in this area.
- For accessible rooms, call ahead to confirm ADA-compliant availability, including specific needs such as ramp access or roll-in showers, as Safford’s smaller hotels may have limited accessible inventory.
- From mid-July to September, allow 30-60 extra minutes for potential monsoon delays or flash-flood alerts. Confirm your hotel's late check-in and storm policy in advance, and follow local weather advisories for road safety.
