Barcelo Maya Tropical - All Inclusive

Had trouble with the key-card. One time it took 27 tries to get it to work. Was very surprised the one time it opened after putting it in just once. Talked to guest services about getting it fixed. It was not fixed while we were there for the week.

Lots of other stuff to do

Lack of staff tending swim up bars at peak hrs. No chairs available after 6:01 am. Lots of seaweed. Rocky beach area. Lack of understanding about dinner reservations

Great stuff, very friendly, maximum helpful. Some guys there are excellent workers. Rooms are very clean, equiped, and large. Large bathrooms as well. Resort is very large, plenty of beach space, many large pools, excellent food in buffets

Check in process could be faster and better organized. It took an hour and a half to get a room. It is quite far away from airport, so count on hour and a half drive. Additional entertainment are quite pricey. They want 80 dollars for touching dolphines.

The entire experience at this resort was fantastic. The absolute best about the hotel was the room location and services available with the club premium option.

The hotel is very spread out, which is good and bad. Lots of walking required (although they do provide a bus).

The Location and staff!!

The Buffet...it was horrible. The first night when you get there and you're hungry it's great...it get old in a hurry and it all tastes the same :(

They were always more than enough employees on site making sure the facility was clean. Our bartenders, at the Theater Bar at Barcelo Tropical, were fabulous!!!

The warm/hot at all buffets was almost always cold in temp unless you got it off the skillets. Lunch food at the pool buffets were not out at a respectable time. We had three 5:30pm (1st available) restaurant reservations and didn't get seated after 6pm.

Food. The spiciness is too monotonous. I want to recommend the spiciness of Korea.

Moldy -very tired room - vecareless staff- below average food all around even in restaurants that needed reservation. Water sports a joke, making a 45 to an hour line to reach your turn and staff tells you they run out of space - management knew I had issues with a long checked in process and did not even try to reach out to me - Horrible family vacation-

The resort grounds are large and well maintained, the beach area is beautiful, and the facilities themselves look impressive. Some staff members were polite and tried to be helpful.

I experienced several serious issues during my stay. I became ill after dining at one of the hotel restaurants and lost an entire vacation day. There was also excessive late-night noise that made it impossible to rest properly.Most concerning was how management handled the situation. A supervisor offered a resolution and later denied it, and one supervisor acting in an official role refused to identify herself or provide her name. I tried to resolve the issue directly with the hotel and through Barceló Group, but the property stopped responding. Booking.com eventually had to step in and provide compensation because no agreement could be reached with the hotel.

This resort beautiful! The beach is amazing, with the coral reef for snorkeling and lots of beautiful palm trees. I love the nature and wildlife, and the grounds are immaculate. It feels like you’re at home in a small village. The food and staff were great. The rooms were comfortable and smelled fresh. We upgraded to premium and loved the proximity to the beach and the view from the balcony. The water at the beach was so warm, and the kids had a blast at the waterpark too (free waterpark). This is our second time at this resort and we will definitely be back! It was sad to leave.

We went to the pay extra pirate waterpark too, but were disappointed and found it overly expensive for what you get.

Pool bathrooms got yucky during a busy day. Need cleaning throughout the day.

The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The food was decent and the drinks were as expected from a an all inclusive. The bar inside the lobby was the best place to go for a drink. The pool bars were just okay. The one bed we were offered wasn't the greatest but it was tolerable. We had fresh towels delivered to us every evening but we had to continually call for water bottles. My biggest upset was that we did not get a room with double beds like I originally booked. We had 3 adults and one child and only ONE king bed. They pulled in a roll away bed that was like sleeping on brick and the couch that unfolded to a bed creaked so loud it sounded like a loud knock at the door with the slightest movement. I specifically booked a premium room so this would not happen and it did anyway. The woman who checked us in saw I was upset and told me we would be upgraded to a bigger room with TWO bathrooms but still with only one bed but when I got to the room it was the same room I booked (Junior Suite oceanfront) but with only one bed. Also not worth booking ocean front... you can't even really see the ocean even though you are facing it because the hotel does not go past 3 levels so you can't see through the palm trees. The Seafood restaurant was the best out of the Santa Fe steakhouse and the Italian Restaurant. The property is huge and I wish we had more time to explore. I don't think I would book this hotel again if I get another opportunity to go to Mexico in 2026.

By far the worst thing was not getting what I originally booked. A room with 2 beds. Most of the beach front is riddled with rocks so it's really painful to walk out in the ocean. We were all scraped up pretty badly. The lunch and dinner buffet was not the greatest. Breakfast was just okay unless you got a omelet cooked which was pretty dang good.

It was beautiful, and clean with a nice beach

Very far and super busy with a long waiting line for breakfast and very strange dinner plans. There is not enough information about the facility only a qr code with limited information we searched for 45 minutes to find the restaurant that they reserved for our dinner. The ventilator was very noisy and one night it started a noise like an alarm and woke up us. It was hard to find a bench in shadow at beach

Good location.

They're advertising access to all restaurants regardless of what to book. Turns out everything gets "booked" days in advance and you don't actually get access to all restaurants. Very sneak - beware.

Everything on the property from restaurants, to nightclub and water sports was affordable was an amazing stay will stay again

Mattress on Bed was a bit lumpy and housekeeping did not have wash cloths had to call for them each time room was cleaned but brought right away

Expansive resort. 6 resorts in one. Lots of activities. Nice rooms. Good food. Great staff.

Rooms near beach a bit damp.

Property is very well managed and clean. Beautiful gardens which houses lovely small birds that sing and play around the property.

Too far from the airport . And no umbrellas in the pool area.
