Review summary
The hotel boasts an excellent location that is praised for its beauty and proximity to restaurants and shopping. While guests appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, there are significant cleanliness issues reported, including unkempt common areas and insufficient room maintenance. Overall, while the hotel has potential with its spacious rooms and great views, many feel the cost does not align with the quality of service and cleanliness provided.

Great location. Close to everything in a very walkable city. Two good restaurants in building as well as many close by. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great view of river front.

Pretty good location. Historic vibe. Friendly staff (mostly).
Could have been cleaner. Check out was odd. Asked for late checkout but said we couldn’t. Then they came knocking on the door 5 before 11 and 11:05 making sure we were out of there as we were just finishing up packing. Seemed unnecessary given we had to wait for our room even slightly past 4 at check in and were totally cool with it but then they acted like it was a huge deal to be 5 min late after we asked for a late checkout and were told no.

We loved our King Riverside View Room. King size bed was very comfortable. We had 2 windows in our room. One facing the river and the other faced east down River St and also had a view of the river. We enjoyed watching the ships(especially the massive cargo ships) pass by in both directions and also checking out the action on River St. The room was clean upon arrival. Bathroom was clean and suited our needs. The location is great. The hotel sits between E Bay St and River St. A central location that is not far from the majority of the Historic District. There are a lot of restaurants and shops near by. Public transportation (the dot is free) is close by and can take you to the further areas such as the south end of the Historic District and Forsyth Park. From the front desk to the cleaners to the valet guys(shout out to Brice!), all staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. I suggest asking them for a few commendations on close by bars/restaurants to have to fall back on. We did not and it could have saved us some walking.
Pillows could have been better(hotel pillows are rarely great) but the comfy bed definitely made up for them. Bathroom sink would get backed up when we used it. Not really an issue or we would have let the front desk know. Had no issues with the shower.

It was unique and authentic. The staff was welcoming and friendly. We stayed as part of our honeymoon and were treated very well.
Perhaps the room/bathroom could have felt slightly cleaner for the price of the room. But overall, it was decent.

The location is beautiful and the hotel itself is very impressive. Set up amazingly, it is quaint and scenic. Staff was friendly and mostly helpful. We went to get engaged and they had champagne set up in our room per my request which was really nice. Christmas parade from the balcony was great. Overall a very nice stay.
Unfortunately, we didn't have hot water for two days. Reported both times to the staff who said they would speak to a manager (since I could never get one on duty) and that they would get back to me, who never reached out so we took cold/lookwarm showers. I'm sure it was a one time thing and they said they were having it looked at but nobody ever followed up. Had this not been a weekend that was important with high end dinners, I could have cared less but the staff telling me someone would follow up and then not was a little disappointing. Took a little away from the weekend but overall not the hotel. Also, this is a port city and right on the water, so there will be some middle of the night fog horns. Charming for me, jolting for the fiance.

The only good thing I can say is it was in a good location to restaurants and shopping
This property is one of the worst places I’ve stayed. The room was filthy from top to bottom. There was an Indian amount of debris and dirt on the floors, mold in the showers, dirt and dust on the floors, under bed and in shower.

Location exactly what we wanted. View from balcony room was excellent - saw river traffic all the time. Comfortable bed and spacious room. Good choice of restaurants. Liked the manager's reception very much for an end-of-day drink and munchies; thanks! Staff was friendly and most helpful on all my questions. Housekeeping did well.
At times, the noise from the River street area was annoying, especially the "busker" type singleton musicians. But OK, they added to the ambience of the location.
