    Pros +

    • The staff were terrific! Cleanliness of resort. The three shows we saw during our stay were great.
    • Getting a real tropical feel walking through the tree covered paths, the wildlife, the cow and donkey, the nature signs and ability to honor Loved Ones with messages on strips of ribbon. The evening shows were good as well.
    • the location, the beach and the shows were great and we had a great day fishing with the captains working for the hotel.

    Cons -

    • Room outdated, tour sign up misleading! We thought tour was of resort when in fact was for timeshare. Did not like being treated like an outsider.
    • It was too large, we walked vs taking the shuttle because it was generally too full. Our family was scattered between the Family section, Hacienda, and Adults section which made getting to the rooms cumbersome. Our room had very low water pressure.
    • issues with the toilet & the safe not working.couldnt get our money out of the safe in time to go downtown with some friends. Had to wait for someone to come open the safe,so we began locking valuables & money in luggage with a keyed padlock instead.

The beach was nice and the resort¿s location.

Staff was not that friendly, but helpful. There was no beach service and all drinks were watered down. Resort restaurants were not easily accessible for reservations.

The list is longer for the things I didn't like.

The staff, the cleanliness, THE FOOD!! THE ROACHES IN HALLWAYS

    8Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 12-14-2022

Clean & SOME personnel goes out of their way to assists

Reception was a slow process. Food wasn¿t impressive

    8MaitePosted on: 10-29-2022

Everyone was friendly. I really liked the food and plenty of places to get it, entertainment, the beach was clean, plenty of beach chairs, the kids pools were nice. The beds were comfortable and I liked the big water dispenser in the room.

Reservations for restaurants were difficult to make because they were always full And had to always go to guest services to see if there were cancellations to get fit in. If we never did this we wouldn¿t have been able to try the restaurants.

Tropical jungle atmosphere. Property layout. Attentative bar staff. On-site alternative options.

Over 4 days we were only able to make reservations 1 at Mexican restaurant 8pm. Traffic delayed us. I explained to the young lady and asked if we could still be seated at available tables. 3 times she said she would check and never returned response. Rude

The staff was very welcoming, accommodating and friendly.

Our room was very warm and the bed was as hard as the floor (we had a hacienda). Our friends stayed in a family room, and it was cool and the beds were comfortable.

The hotel grounds were absolutely stunning and the landscape was second to none. I also very much enjoyed the live entertainment.

The room was hot and musty and the A/C units were barely functional. There is no clear map of the property and it is difficult to navigate. The food was bland and disappointing. Many staff members were rude.

    1Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 7-15-2021

    The location was very nice.

Check in process was the worst. Waiting in line 1 1/2 hrs! Check out - wait in line again! Couldn't get reservations at the nicer restaurants for the first 3 days as they were fully booked. Buffet had the same lousy food each lunch and dinner.

    1Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 6-3-2021

Ac hardly worked in room Food was terrible Drinks were not very good Food I would say is the worst I¿ve ever tasted

    7Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 5-12-2017

The staff was kind & attentive

Most rooms smelled like mildew. I was told it was because of the humidity. The people who visited during our visit were from Latin America hwere extremely rude, maybe because we are Brown skinned. It was really hard to tolerate stares & cutting in lines

Lack of communication, one person tell you something then other one tell you a toril difference story

The best thing about Sandos is its beach. Without a doubt one of the best beaches in Playacar area. Staff is hit or miss, and need a bit more training in hospitality.Food is good, buffet has a wide variety of options and it is decent. Our kids enjoy the pools.

The check-in and check out experiences are some of the worst I have experienced in all my travel. First of all, expect to wait a long time, and I mean a long time. We waited in line at check-in longer than we waited in line at Mexican passport border control. Once you check-in, you are approached by a member of the staff, who will try to tell you all about the facilities and try to sell you up on some hotel tour in exchange for a massage. This would have been perfectly fine if we did not wait for 45 mins to check-in, with two kids starving and tired. After the check-in, no one shows your room, gives you a ride to your room or anything of that sort. You will need to figure it out on your own, and wait for your luggage another hour or so to make it to your room. I literally had to trek back and forth between our room and the front desk to check on the status of the luggage THREE TIMES, because no one answers the front desk phone. We called them from our room repeatedly at different times, AND NO ONE answers the phone (Hope no one ever has an emergency in their room). I have never ever seen that before with any other hotel in the world. Maybe it is an issue with training or lack of adequate staffing, but it was aggravating. The rest of stay was enjoyable due to the superb beach and adequate facilities. If you can get past the front desk experience, you are lucky and you will enjoy your stay. Then comes check-out time, it is again the same calvary. we left our towel cards in the room, the receptionist insisted that we trek back to our room to get them. I simply refused and she went back to ask her manager who agreed to let us check-out. Sandos can be a wonderful resort if it manages to work out its front desk-issues (check-in/check-out). Tip: make sure to book reservations at the different restaurants ahead of time, which were all unavailable at the time of our check-in. But you will need their APP to reserve, which you cannot have access to until you check-in!

Most things were very good to excellent. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room was nice but showing its age.

Booking the À la cart restaurants was a nightmare. Guest services were unable to help us. The booking system needs to be changed or updated.
