Pros +

  • It was a convenient one night stopover, clean and good size room. Hosts were very friendly, outdoor seating/ dining area was lovely. Breakfast included was good.Handy to train station.
  • I find it hard to write this review because my experience of the hotel seems to be so greatly at odds with many other reviews. I booked here based on all of the recommendations giving the hotel a score of 10, describing the restaurant and the breakfast as excellent, and a description of the double room with what seemed to suggest thoughtful attention to guests and good taste ( parquet or hardwood floors, potentially a bathrobe, refrigerator, dining table, and a view of the mountains). Perhaps we were just unlucky in getting the only double room that didn't have a bathrobe, refrigerator, dining table, parquet or hardwood floors, but there were many things that did not match our expectations on arrival. The room we had (at the front) faces a busy and noisy four lane main road. When closed, the windows do keep out the noise, but it was imperative when we first arrived to leave the balcony and side windows open for several hours to allow the room to air out and cool down. It was both very hot and very smelly from bathroom cleaning solutions. We should have asked for, or have been given, another room, because there didn't seem to be a lot of guests. Neither the beds nor the pillows were comfortable.

Cons -

  • Nothing
  • The width of the bathroom was barely wide enough for a long-legged person to sit on the loo. The opaque glass door to the toilet (and bathroom) is only about ten feet from the bed. The light shines through door if bathroom is used at night . One is not able to turn off the fan while light is on, so the noise can be disturbing. There is no shelf in shower, so nowhere for soap or shampoo except floor. Shower is partitioned off from sink and toilet by a clear glass partition wall which you have to reach around to access the liquid soap on the sink. Liquid soap is unmarked, so presumably to be used for both shampoo and soap. Water sprays very strongly from shower head, but with no door to the shower, the water sprays far out onto the floor outside the shower, soaking the bath mat and making the floor slippery. If I were the hotel owners, I would make this room a single room only. This would leave space for the guest to open their luggage and still walk around the room easily. It would also solve the problem of leaving the light on in the bathroom at night and the noise of the fan. And probably reduce the number of poor reviews. The young women in the restaurant were friendly, helpful and efficient, as were also the owners / managers. However, the food in the restaurant was not good for the price paid veal with sauerbraten sauce that tasted as if microwaved, a schnitzel that lacked any crispiness wrapped around some a vegetable filling of some sort, very limp and watery vegetables. And expensive for what you got. For breakfast there was a fresh crusty bread loaf, and the coffee was good. There were two kinds of sliced cheeses and two kinds of sliced meats, a few bread rolls and mueslis, fruit juice and we were offered eggs.
