Swissotel Chicago - All Inclusive Reviews Rating
Very Good
Review summary
The hotel offers spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed rooms with excellent views and efficient elevators, contributing to a pleasant stay. Its prime location provides easy access to major attractions, public transportation, and scenic spots, enhancing convenience for guests. While the hotel is clean and eco-friendly with friendly, helpful staff and a great restaurant, some areas in rooms showed minor dust, and parking options were limited and costly.

The staff was courteous and friendly. They helped us find a nearby restaurant on two occasions. We enjoyed dining in the Palm.
Mattress was a bit uncomfortable.

We had an incredible stay at Swissotel Chicago! From the moment we arrived, the service was great. A special shout-out to Simora at the front desk—she went above and beyond to help us with check-in and surprised us with a room upgrade since we were celebrating a birthday. It truly made our stay unforgettable! The hotel itself is amazing, clean, modern, and comfortable. The views are absolutely unmatched. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Very nice hotel. Quiet, well managed, nicely appointed rooms. High quality
The water tastes terrible. And the available boxed water cost $6 for a small bottle. That is ridiculous. Given how bad the water from the tap tastes, they should make some better tasting water available for free.

The location of the hotel is very nice. Right on the river, very central "Loop" with many amenities and attractions within walking distance. From grocery stores to pharmacies to fast food to fine dining, it's all there. Likewise, Grant Park is a 5-minute walk away, as is the lakefront and Navy Pier. The room was very comfortable, with plenty of room to move around and not trip over luggage. Side view of the river, Tribune Tower and the Wrigley Building were very nice. Soundproofing is very good. I heard the occasional door closing in the hallway, but that was it for outside noise. There are a lot of fire trucks and emergency vehicles in the area and we didn't hear them in the room. Air conditioning worked great, good beds and sufficient pillows. 110V outlets on the nightstand, as well as USB-A outlets. Small fridge to keep some drinks in (which you can buy right around the corner at the CVS).The staff we encountered were great! From the valets who kept an eye on our car while we checked in and brought bags up to our room, to the front desk personnel to the bartenders to housekeeping to baggage handlers, everyone was very pleasant and super helpful!
Only two things that I'd mention: the Urban Experience Fee is a mandatory extra cost and was really no value-added for us. Essentially it is a $25 charge (plus an additional $4.95 tax), which is a credit for $15 at the lounge, plus dry cleaning and a shoe shine. So, I got a $12 beer at the lounge, (Goose Island, which is good), and we got a bottle of Fiji water and a Minute Maid Lemonade from the concession sales by the front desk, and then the bill was $32! (Beer was $12, the water and lemonade were $20!) And reception told me the Urban Experience Fee is just "use it or lose it", as there's no way to decline it. I wouldn't have had the beer in the lounge, if it weren't for the fee. The CVS store around the corner sold the water and lemonade for about $6. Stay a night and maybe you just suck up the charge. Stay a week and it's almost another night's cost. The other thing to bring up is regarding the shower. It is almost expected by me to have a shower with an auxiliary hand-held shower head. I did see one in the picture of the room online, but 1809 doesn't have one. For my wife, that's an essential piece of equipment when it comes time to wash her hair. I was with my grandson on this trip, so it wasn't a deal-breaker for us. But I was scouting out places to stay when I do come with my wife in the future.

The location is perfect. The gym is great and the view from the gym. is perfect, as well. The rooms are comfortable and clean. We didn't use other facilities, so I can't comment that.

Swisshotel Chicago is one of the best Hotels in town. Staff friendly and very much service oriented. Rooms well equipped. Location nearly in the heart of town and all major destinations and attractions could be reached by short walk.
