Great beach! Staff was overall pretty great and good food. The dinners were much better than breakfast.

The room did not get vary cold, as I noticed in others reviews. The place was small which was nice but there was barely any activities / entertainment. I would have liked a walk around when we got there to understand where the restaurants and bars were.

Poor selection of food, food wasn't great taste, AC not working properly in rooms, no AC in restaurants or main building,lack of exterior maintenance, not friendly stuff,no interest in guests,rooms outdated,insects in rooms, dirty water in bathrooms

food was bland and nearly the same across different restaurants; check-in process was slow and cumbersome; front desk, room service, housekeeping were not accommodating and acted confused when we asked for basic supplies. The mini bar is not a bar.

The location and beach were great. Not over crowded like neighbor resorts and the seaweed that was washed up on shore was cleaned up every morning. This was not a daily occurrence at the neighboring resorts.

I stayed at this resort 5 years ago and loved it. I feel that it has gone a bit down hill. The food is not as good, I don¿t believe the top shelf alcohol is truly top shelf, the grounds are not lush and beautiful anymore. Not much music or entertainment.

The staff were attentive and location perfect.

The room was somewhat outdated. Plus we were near the entertainment which would go on until midnight. Noisy and affected our sleep.

Resort was very clean and inviting. 99% of staff were superb and friendly!!Only one was terse. Pools were beautiful, scuba next door (pro dive) were very professional. Nicole for cavern dives was great!!!

Music needs some updating and variety. This is picky, but you asked!

No food late/night food poor anyway. Entertainment horrible. Resort caters to seniors no music that you can hear and enjoy anywhere. Dining difficult to book. Pool chairs taken by 7am. Room A/C preset NOT cooling good. Mini-fridge warm. Overpriced.

Close to downtown, fairly quiet resort to enjoy the pool and company. Restaurants were fabulous as well!

Did not know about the dress code for the restaurants- could have packed more appropriate things.

I liked everything.

The restaurant and bar close to the pool. The place was well manicured.

The 2.5 hour check in. Furthermore upon complaining about a substandard dinner at their 5 star restaurant and receiving a different meal, I was served a carbonara with rancid bacon grease. As a restaurant kitchen builder I know the difference between todays grease and one from the honeypot bucket that gets dumped weekly. This was intentional poisoning that made me ill for three days. Upon complaining to many different managements I received zero feedback that this heinous act was rectified.Additionally we had to leave the resort to eat when they couldnt accommodate our group on the first night. Why pay for an all inclusive? We had four rooms and none of the refers worked, nor was there an ice machine.

Beautiful lobby. Check in was painfully slow. The property didn't match the entrance. Our room was comfortable. The housekeeping service was on it! Bravo! Restaurants were inconsistent. Pallazzo was a disappointment. We also thought the Grill was mediocre. Ventana was really special. We also liked the music in the outdoor courtyard. Beach was great. Should let guests know when there is a jellyfish problem so we were not surprised. Overall stay was very enjoyable!

Rooms need a refresh but great beds and linens!

The location of the resort was amazing, pool and beach areas were beautiful. Staff was very friendly and fun, plus they made great drinks.

Upon arrival they tried to tell me we didn’t book 2 people per room and wanted to double charge, however, I clearly booked it via booking.com with a confirmation email specifically stating 2 people per 2 rooms totaling 4. We get to our room and the phone and fridge don’t work - talked to concierge and he came up confirmed and stated he would send someone to help. No help. We’re very easy going people so we never cared enough to continue to reach out. You’re required to have reservations for every dinner you’d like to go to, however, when we arrived and started to make reservations we noticed nothing was available. We made some and were able to get some late reservations- went to some and were told the guys couldn’t wear shorts. They had dress shirts on and closed toed shoes. Again, we then understood rules but wish we were told prior. All this to say they have insane rules for not having good quality food, quick response to room issues and wanting to double charge. Beautiful grounds but will never come back to a low quality “5 star resort”.

Peaceful and quiet!

Need more TV’s at the bar by the main pool. Lots of sports fans and that would have been amazing.

Room service taking too long to deliver your food when they give you a time

The property was clean. The staff were amazing. And, the dinner restaurants were generally good.

The property was very dated and the online photos look way better. The breakfast Buffet needs some work. And, they never had change at the front desk to exchange for tipping folks.

The property was beautiful, relaxing and quiet with all the greenery separating spaces. There were hidden gems if you wanted more privacy. There were also activities throught out the day that were fun and engaging. Ventana was absolutely fabulous.

Stinky seaweed! The crew really worked hard to clean the beach every day but it was pretty bad and uncontrolled by the resort. Quite a few staff seemed annoyed (or judgemental) with any sort of questions so sometimes we fumbled around with where to go out how to go about doing something rather than asking questions. Most of the staff were very accommodating and friendly. The good staff definitely made the experience significantly better so we got good at gravitating to those specific staff. It is a lovely property but older. The pool restroom was out of order one day so you had to go upstairs to a restaurant bathroom. Some of the rooms had issues with AC, not ours though. Only issue we had was a toilet that continually ran and wouldn't fill up unless you jiggled the handle. We had a bad experience at Azia.

Clean grounds, clean pools, exceptional service!!!!

The location in Playacar was really nice. The water was clear blue and beautiful, there were two pools, gazebos, and lovely grounds, and rooms. The people who worked there were really great, Sandra, Gabriela and pretty much everyone was really helpful and kind. The food was really good. For reservations, I'd recommend calling a week ahead and making them. We were able to switch some of our reservations. For activities they had everything from painting and cocktail classes to live bands and scuba demonstrations. Highly recommended

The one thing I'd definitely recommend is to always negotiate your taxi rate before even sitting down in the taxi. Otherwise, you will likely get taken advantage of when the driver comes up with an arbitrary rate as soon as the ride is over. Playacar is pretty blocked off from getting around except for taxi and on foot/bike (no Uber), so if you can get consistent and fair rates on the cabs, that'd make the trip great.
