Slieve Russell Hotel

Facilities - pool, bar, restaurants. Great service from the friendly staff. Efficient. Good music for entertainment.

No conditioner in bathroom. Lack of privacy in room - no voile curtain on window. Bar got very busy at night - couldn't find a sear initially.

Great room. Lovely setting.

No food whatsoever after 9 pm, not even at the bar. Guests directed to vending machines which just had chocolate. Not even room service. Not on for a hotel this big located in the middle of the countryside. Staff helpfulness/friendliness: mixed.

If I’m going to nit pick , I would say maybe bathrobes in the rooms. But really can’t think of anything else. Had a great stay

Staff were excellent and very friendly and helpful. Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. Food was fine. I cannot eat greasy food so was limited.

As a relatively new disabled person, I found it awkward to get around with a walker with 4 wheels in bedroom/bathroom. I could not have a shower as could not get into bath and shower itself did not have a seat. In retrospect I should have asked for a wet room with shower chair but every day a learning day!! I struggled to get into bed as had to minimize the walker to fit between the beds. The most disappointing aspect of the food was the potato bread. Irrespective of the effect of potato bread on me, I was trilled to see it on a menu in Ulster. It was, to put it mildly, very disappointing. Very thin and a ball of grease and all my family agreed (and they did not have an issue with greasy food). Was surprised that could not cook my own toast. One of my family was given 3 triangles of toast (ie 1.5 slices). I know everything is shrinking but 1.5 slices!!!).

Rooms clean, nice. Service great. Food good. Plenty of entertainment for kids.

The WiFi wouldn't work in our room.

The room was ok, the bed was so uncomfortable we didn't get much sleep. The price didn't reflect the accommodation.

I left an item for putting on shoes in our room. I phoned the hotel but I never got it sent to me.

Large, very old school which is nice, felt local.

Very hard to navigate to rooms we had three rooms and 706 was no a side that was so noise with hoteliers outside they couldn’t sleep. They were also smoking and because the room was so hot it wafted in through the windows . It was incredibly hot and stifling. There were no fans and the thermostat did not work and there was no AC. The Windows were open but barely as there are safety guards and absolutely no air movement. The service and food in the Summit was very poor and slow. We got our drinks AFTER we finished our appetizers and that’s after we had to ask for them and never were asked if we wanted another drink. The Summit breakfast/buffet was very poor. Did not taste good and was very limited.

Unable to get appointment in the SPA. It appears the residents do not get priority for appointments for the SPA. Very disappointing this facility was not available.

The food is not as good as it has been in the past .But still fine and kids were happy .We go back as it very reliable for the kids , safe and fun but from the adults food point of view it’s not fantastic. We were at the conal cearnach both nights . One thing I may add. I was drinking zero zero alcohol and trying to be discreet with my party . Such a big deal was made of it . The waiter announced zero alcohol when I pointed to what I wanted . Then another waiter came back to clarify was it a bottle of zero zero Prosecco I wanted . If someone is taking zero alcohol drink , it’s for a reason and for it to be repeated continuously infront of my party make me feel mortified .

Rooms are larger and better equipped than standard hotel rooms.

Swimming pool is probably too small for larger numbers.

It was a very family friendly hotel. Unfortunately my little girl was sick in the hotel lobby on our last night and the next morning we just made it to the toilet beside the restaurant( she was fine all through the night so we thought we were safe to go to breakfast ) the hotel staff spoke to my husband and had breakfast delivered to my room within ten minutes. I was so thankful to them. They are all so caring and attentive and I really appreciated them making things easier for us. The hotel was beautiful , clean and the food was good . The pool was beautiful. We had room 604 which was so handy for our two bigger girls and new born . Good staff make such a different and we experienced this throughout our stay .

We loved the hotel, the facilities were very good, breakfast was a bit chaotic but very good

The sink in our room simply needed some bleach, the plughole and around the inside edge of the sink was particularly dirty, also the shower frame again was left with dirt and stains

No bottled water in the room, it’s ok to get ice in the corridor but I think there should be water in the room especially when you wake up, it’s not ideal having h to go down the hall for a drink of water.
