It is in the old town, walking distance to all the sights, yet it is very quiet and cozy.

The location is great, very central and yet very quiet.The room was clean and comfortable.

Breakfast could have benefitted from having a bit more variety, in particular pastries.

It was very hot in the room. It was 90(F) and too hot to sleep. My room is #33. Three windows are facing west. The AC is too small to cool down the room. Talked to the hotel manager and showed him the temperature 88(F). He said it was normal temperature to all rooms.

Room is too hot to sleep. The elevator can’t get up to my room. I have to carry my heavy suitcase for ten steps.

The location was perfect an the hotel was beautiful. Rooms were large, shower was hot and pressure excellent., very clean! Staff was very nice.

I don't normally check out physically from a room but when I left I was told I didnt pay.. It was reserved with my card but they don't automatically charge it. It was a little bit confusing. and a little bit of a language issue. but all was handled and it didn't make my rating go down. It was just a little confusing at the end.

Very oldschool-smalltown experience, for exemple no AC. But also big rooms and an excellente breakfast with scrambled eggs made à la minute. Very silent.

Our room had a sliding, opaque glass door to the bathroom, which doesn't give you much privacy.

Very friendly atmosphere. Nice room with plenty space in a quiet street just off the Hauptstrasse so very central and close to all kinds of important things. Decent breakfast. Really good and clean bathroom.

Possibility for making coffee/tea would be great. Also in the room some things like the headboard of the bed had some damage, which made it look less nice than it could be. Apart from that, we really had a nice stay.

Fabulous location, very nice accommodations and wonderful staff. The included breakfast offered a nice variety of items. We lived how close it was to the main shopping area and restaurants. Excellent value, comfortable - I was traveling with my adult son, so greatly appreciated the option of having separate beds - and extremely clean. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

If you're looking for the perfect place to stay in Heidelberg, I can’t recommend Hotel & Gasthaus Backmulde enough! My daughter, who is studying at the University of Heidelberg, suggested this hotel since it was just around the corner from where she lives—and it couldn’t have been in a better location. We were able to meet up with her daily and easily explore the charming town on foot.From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff made us feel welcome. They were incredibly helpful, answering all our questions, offering great suggestions, and even providing a handy map that made navigating the city a breeze.The housekeeping service was impeccable, refreshing our room and towels daily—a true treat! I especially appreciated the ability to open the windows to let in a lovely breeze and enjoy the fresh air. It’s those little touches that make a stay memorable.Hotel & Gasthaus Backmulde truly felt like a home away from home. With its excellent location, outstanding service, and warm atmosphere, it’s an ideal choice for anyone visiting Heidelberg. We can’t wait to come back!

Quiet location while being in the city center with easy access to hotel. Large and clean rooms. Breakfast was good and well appointed. Staff were great. Perfect for us and what we needed.

The location near the altstadt was great! It was modern but still has the old world charm. Has an elevator! Staff very friendly and accommodating. Would stay there again.

Good place to stay near the centre of Heidelberg. Good breakfast, old fashioned traditional guest house.

The check in arrangements. 6pm is too early.
