Barcelo Maya Beach - All Inclusive

Booking needs to specify the age of the kids so that the kids are charged properly.

Barcelo was great, the food and facilities were beautiful

Rooms are dated, though cleaned. Breakfast is terrible, little healthy options and lots of junk food. Specially restaurants are low quality. Beach unfortunately is full of seaweed due to water temperature. Impossible to swim. Family hotel, lots of kids, not really suitable for single travelers unless you enjoy having kids and children screaming around.

Well. Resort is lovely. The pools are pristine. The only issue is that is a bit more geared towards 20-30yr Olds or at least the time I was there. Oh and if you like wine - no just drink the beer or switch to some sort of wine cocktail.

Noise I have a child with severe autism and sensory issues and before arriving I asked for a quiet room due to this , unfortunately staff put me in cobra building ground floor opposite elevator busiest part of resort and full with young adults- though it was spring break for USA and as a British woman I had no idea lol the rooms were very clean and spacious

The pool was great and swim up bar was fabulous.

Every bit of the alcohol was watered down, the staff wanted you to give money to “get” into the restaurants that were included, it was a constant struggle to get a table to fit 5, instead of a table for 4 with an extra chair pulled up, forget getting a towel if you forgot your towel card, I could go and on. I’m never going back and will never recommend this resort to anyone.

Bad food. Period. Remember I warned you. They know it, you will learn it. Reservations for the “specialty” restaurants is a joke. Our group was limited to 2 reservations each for seven night stays. They claim you are “allowed” 4 but then only “Two are left available”… (even 4 would be a joke) Understand that meant for our people 19 nearly consecutive meals at the buffet. And the buffet is terrible. The specialty “Steak House”? Ha, it’s the lunch buffet meat brought to your table conveniently located in the lunch buffet room. Their old room key system is broken, get ready to count their excuses each time you have to take the long walk back to reception for new keys. Barcelo a massive hotel company that knows the key system is old and broken but just expect you to put up with it. What you gonna do?

Can get noisy in certain areas, buffet was repetitive and quite bland.

The food was not great, limited options for vegetarians. Food badly labeled. Staff ate hit and miss, I had two items of personal effects go missing.

I book to stay at BARCELO BEACH and I was moved to another hotel. I am Vegetarian I took a vegetarian option at the dinner buffet, but it had meat inside. I ate this food and then I was sick. This is unacceptable and I want to be compensated.

Resort upgraded my reservation to adults only Barcelo Riviera; huge king bed, daily cleaning services, very modern.

Service was not the best, it was hard and complicated to get a restaurant reservation, I was only allowed to make 1 reservation out of 4 days because there were a lot of guests and other were having 2 or more. the drinks and food could use improvement, front desk service was bad and there was lack of information provided to the guests on the options available at the facilities. No a/c on many areas like the front desk, theaters, hallways, it was a sauna as soon as you step out of the room, and the service at the reception was so slow that I had to ask for paper towels since I was dripping sweat over the counter.

Amenities. Service, all inclusive program is just what it is 10/10

Some restaurants may up end in some arrogance and bad service from one or two waitresses like in the Ranch Grill Pool Bar

You need to pay for most of the activities and does not come free. We found it difficult to book certain restaurants but was available at a price.

the hotel facilities are great and they are better maintained that the rooms. the beach are is quite nice and wide

some of the parts in the room are old and not so properly manteined. For example the bathtub, there was a stain that could have been easily fixed. The last night big groups of teenagers arrived and as anyone could have anticipated, they were making crazy noise and party during the night. I called reception 3 times and still couldn't solved the problem... we basically paid one night of hotel where we could sleep at hotel. if you actually are looking for a holiday to rest this might not be a good option for you.

The resort itself is stunning - great facilities, quick and attentive service and friendly staff. The buffet had a great selection of food and drinks on offer.

Taxis are the main mode of transport and they all try to rip you off!

Had multiple problems with the air conditioning, customer service was very slow to solve the problems, staff was nice but unable to find solutions.
