In a great location near lots of cute cafes and local shops, so very easy to walk and explore. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. The complimentary breakfast was nice but simple - no hot foods, but coffee, some fruits and bagels. The property itself felt a bit dated/simple, but the bed was very comfortable and our room was clean. Would likely stay here again on a return trip to Calgary.

We stay here every couple of years because of the location. It is in the heart of Kensington and walkable to so many sights along the river.

Clean, modern well kept Excellent location Nice continental breakfast Friendly helpful staff

    10CarmenPosted on: 10-12-2025

The staff were all very pleasant and genuinely helpful. Very quiet. Food was outstanding from breakfast, though Happy Hour, to dinner. In short, the best way to describe a stay at the Kensington is that it is "quite civilized".

    No quibbles.

A very nice boutique hotel - nice design, one of the best restaurants in Calgary, very friendly personnel, good beds and linen. Location is central.

Our room was facing the main road - it was unfortunately very loud until late at night and from early morning. We hardly slept, although the bed comfort was excellent. I wish we had booked a lower category, but the room were facing the backyard.

This fun boutique-style hotel is in one of the best (if not the best) neighbourhoods in Calgary. At its doorstep it has; sweeping views of downtown, parks, scenic walks along the river, eclectic shopping, amazing food, and a safe and welcoming environment. On top of this, the staff here are exceptional. At each interaction everyone literally went above and beyond. The concierge provided coffee and a light breakfast for our ridiculously early departure at 4:30am and had a taxi waiting for us. The room cleaners provided amenities that we needed from their own personal cache (it was a small request) that they really had no obligation to. The server at the restaurant/bar was very knowledgeable and excellent at his job. These types of things are not expected, but when they occur, it really changes the vibe when you are travelling. Everything feels ... easy. You relax into your visit. Your memories have a certain tint to them. Bravo.

Maybe a little pricey? But as noted above, if you can afford it, you will appreciate it.

Location was perfect, beside the River. Very good breakfast. Very comfortable, nicely decorated rooms. We’d love to go back.

The location was convenient but a bit noisy. The bed was comfortable. The large soaking tub was delightful.

There was no hot water on the last day of our stay. The staff said we would be compensated by 50% discount for that day but since we paid in advance, I have seen no adjustment on my credit card and it was a disappointment not to be able to soak in that big beautiful tub. Also, the continental breakfast was mediocre.

    Location, staff, comfort and cleanliness

My tv (maybe just the remote) didn’t work, but I could’ve gone to the front desk to get help, I chose not to. I’m sure they would’ve fixed it, but I was fine without it.

great location close to downtown but without the hassle of parking. underground parking for $20 and had room for my pickup truck. upgraded us to the top suite. fantastic room and great service.

only issue is that they couldn’t do a debit deposit for damage. I had credit card issues and every hotel I have ever stayed at could do a debit deposit but they wouldn’t allow it.

Clean and very very nice staff!!!

Parking was tricky and the breakfast was not great. The coffee was cold, the yogurt was warm and the fruit was mushy.

Fantastic location, and not the usual (boring) hotel chain setting.

The breakfast was good, but it could have been presented a bit nicer. For instance, no spoons to eat your boiled eggs. A bit more thought would have been nice for a hotel of this price.I did not like the large number of unusual emails from the hotel (through booking.com). At the end I sent an email questioning the hotel if it did indeed receive my recommendation - I started getting nervous about being a victim of fraud. Unfortunately, I never received a reply. But finally everything worked out.
