About

This castle dating from the 12th century is located on the outskirts of Leibnitz, 25 mi south of Graz. It features an outdoor pool and a restaurant with a terrace. The former residence of a bishop is located on a hillside offering views of the surrounding 11,000-m² park, which features meadows and woods. Schloss Seggau also features its own 300-year old wine cellar. Schloss Seggau’s rooms are equipped with parquet floors. They provide a flat-screen satellite TV, free wired internet and a hairdryer. Several traditional restaurants and wine taverns are close by. Tennis courts can be reached in a 3-minute walk, and Lebring Golf Course is 9.3 mi away.

Pros +

  • The castle and hotel are amazing! You can look around and explore by yourself or relax at the pool area. They have their own wines and a very old wine cellar. The wines are exceptional, would recommend to try out their winetasting. We even got vouchers for it. The area is also great and the castle serves as the perfect base to explore all the cool things in the area.

Cons -

  • The food. I say this with respect - you cant serve peasoup which tastes like it is instant soup (supermarket bought) and cold pancakes (Palatschinken). You have a Head of kitchen, one chef and a couple of sou-chefs, and when I see this in the marketing materials, I kinda expect amazing food. I cant say the food is bad, but it wasnt great either. You have the most breathtaking restaurant space, amazing staff, mindblowing wine and then the food is just meh. What went wrong in the process?
