Super close to airport
The hotel is very close to the airport terminal, which is very convenient.
There was a cancelled flight when we were checking in and despite lots of upset people needing rooms, the staff remained calm and professional. They apologized for those with reservations having to wait, and really made me feel like a valued customer.

Location was somewhat comvenient, staff was friendly!
It is conveniently located near the airport and has a shuttle.
Hardest beds I have ever slept on. A park bench would have felt more comfortable. Advised front desk manager but question was dismissed as some people like soft beds others like it extra hard.

It is a fun location in an old monastery. The tram stop is on the street right in front of the hotel, so very convenient for going to the center. It was pretty quiet being back from the road. Nice breakfast with hot/cold food.

Hotel Golf was a beautiful hotel with great breakfast options and a gorgeous lobby.
Fantastic modern/Nordic design, very recently redone. Nespresso capsules and machine in each room. Especially impressive the usage of modern lighting fixtures, used to provide great design accents. Also great breakfast buffet with lots of choices.
The air conditioning was great

Newness, cleanliness, super staff members, in a great location (more like neighborhood than touristy area). On 2 great tram lines that run every 5-7 mins. On the airport-side of town. Very near the castle.

The hotel was nice and the room was what we expected. The bar fridge wasn't working.

Top Tips
- Select your Prague neighborhood with your itinerary in mind. Prague 1 covers Old Town attractions and main tourist sites, though it's typically noisier and more expensive. For better value and local cafes, consider New Town or Vinohrady, where many hotels are within 400-600 m of tram or Náměstí Míru Metro (Lines A/C), making Old Town accessible in under 10 minutes. Use Google Maps or the PID Lítačka app to check hotel connectivity. Several top chains have properties in Vinohrady near tram stops, and you can find named local spots like Café Jen.
- Book your hotel well in advance for peak times like Prague Spring (mid-May to early June) or December’s Christmas markets, as hotels fill quickly. Most major brands (such as Hilton, Marriott, Accor) offer free cancellation on flexible rates until 24-48 hours before arrival, and booking direct sometimes includes perks like breakfast or points. Set price alerts if booking more than 6 months out, and remember: the city tax is 50 CZK (approx. $2.10 USD) per person/night.
- Historic hotels in Old Town often lack step-free access or have small lifts and narrow staircases. Request an accessible room if mobility is a concern, and verify step-free or ramp access directly with the property, since international chains typically offer accessible options. Read recent reviews for elevator and building accessibility details.
- Hotels must register guest details at check-in, so keep your passport or EU ID ready. The local tourist tax is 50 CZK (approx. $2.10 USD) per person per night and may not be included in prepaid bookings. Major chains sometimes bundle this tax, but always verify your booking confirmation and whether payment is possible by card or cash at check-in.
- Take public transit from Václav Havel Airport for cost savings: Bus 119 connects to Metro Line A at Nádraží Veleslavín, while the Airport Express (AE) bus reaches Main Station in 35-45 minutes and costs 100 CZK (about $4.30 USD) one-way. Most major hotels can arrange a private transfer if pre-booked. Compare AE bus or taxi times (30-40 minutes downtown), and remember to validate tickets when using public transport.
- Guard your belongings in crowded areas, on trams, and at key spots like Charles Bridge or Wenceslas Square, which see higher pickpocketing risk. Most upscale Prague hotels have in-room safes for valuables. Limit the cash you carry and use zipped, crossbody, or anti-theft bags while sightseeing.
- Polite Czech phrases like "Dobrý den" (hello) and "Děkuji" (thank you) are appreciated by hotel staff, especially at reception. Tipping is less standardized than in the US; round up or leave 5-10%, with credit card tips often preferred in cash. Typical tips are approx. 20-50 CZK ($0.80-$2.10 USD) per bag for porters and 40-80 CZK ($1.70-$3.40 USD) per day for housekeeping.
- Let your hotel know your arrival time, especially for smaller guesthouses with limited front-desk hours, typically 12:00–21:00. If arriving after 20:00, confirm the late check-in process (entry code or alternate key pickup) in advance. Guests of international chains can often use mobile check-in if available.
- Check Wi-Fi speed with your hotel if you plan remote work, as basics often range from 20-50 Mbps at major chains but may be slower at small hotels. For video calls or meetings, you typically need at least 20 Mbps; ask about business center access or upgrade options if needed.
- Request family amenities like cribs ('dětská postýlka') or highchairs when booking, as supply is sometimes limited even at 4-star hotels. Many apartment hotels in Prague 2 (New Town or Vinohrady) feature kitchenettes for meal prep. Reconfirm your request within 48 hours before arrival.
- Choose a hotel with 24-hour reception for flexibility; this is standard at most major chains, but apartment hotels may vary. For quiet, request an inward-facing or interior room in central Prague. Well-lit metro stops like Muzeum or Florenc improve late-night safety for solo travelers.
- Smoking is banned by law in all Prague hotels and restaurants, except in marked outdoor areas as of 2024. Typical quiet hours run 22:00–06:00 and violations may incur fines; top chains enforce these policies, but always check your specific property guidelines.
- Tap water in Prague is safe and regularly tested, so bottled water is optional. For emergencies, dial 112 (EU emergency line). Hotel front desks can provide a list of 24/7 pharmacies (lékárna, marked by a bright green cross) or clinics if you need medical help.
- Local ATMs run by Česká spořitelna or Komerční banka offer better exchange rates and usually lower withdrawal fees than private operators. Carry some Czech Koruna (CZK) for smaller purchases—most hotels and restaurants accept Visa and Mastercard, with American Express less widely used. Avoid airport currency kiosks when possible.
- Ask your hotel concierge about local experiences, from Czech wellness spas like the Original Beer Spa Prague to boutique hotel rooftop terraces with city views (Radisson Blu's rooftop bar is a favorite). Some attractions and spa slots need advance booking—confirm before arrival.
- Confirm parking availability and price with your hotel if driving, as Old Town hotels rarely have onsite lots and central prices are typically 400-800 CZK/day ($17–$34 USD). If the lot is full, use Park+Ride lots near metro terminals. Always check for 'blue zone' parking restrictions in Prague 1 and 2.
- For stays longer than a few days, apartment hotels with kitchenettes or in-room laundry are useful, but in-room laundry is less common in Prague. Most hotels offer 24-48h laundry service, usually 200-400 CZK per load, so request the price list at check-in. Local laundromats ('prádelna samoobslužná') are an affordable backup.
- Contact your hotel in advance for special needs—steps like arranging airport shuttles (700-900 CZK, approx. $30–$38 USD from major hotels), requesting accessible rooms, or notifying dietary restrictions should be made at least 48 hours before arrival. Reconfirm special requests 24 hours before check-in.
- Bring a universal travel adapter for Czech power sockets: Type C, E, and F plugs are standard at 230V, 50Hz, so check device compatibility to avoid damage. Some top hotels may provide adapters or multi-standard sockets on request, so verify availability before arrival.
- For airport hotels, ask about 'park and fly' packages combining accommodation with 7-10 days' parking (typically 1200-1800 CZK/7-10 days). These must be reserved ahead and can sell out in peak season. Holiday Inn Prague Airport is a known option.
- Always validate your transit ticket immediately—look for the yellow validators on trams and buses, or at metro entrances. Inspectors check often on Line A and in central tourist zones; fines for unvalidated tickets start at 1,500 CZK (about $64 USD).
