    Pros +

    • Very nice staff and beautiful hotel
    • Beach club and overall hotel design were beautiful. Receptionists were very kind. Our room ans bathroom was very pretty although lack luminosity.
    • We loved our stay at Nomade. It's a unique place where you have a comfort of a nice room while being fully surrounded by nature. The staff were wonderful, friendly, and helpful. The beach is gorgeous. And it's close bike ride or taxi ride into town. Would love to come back.

    Cons -

    • outdoor setting makes it impossible to enjoy : very agressive mosquitos and hotel not equipped against. Relentless flies and bees during meals and again hotel not equipped.
    • Our experience at this hotel was very disappointing.Room Cleanliness and Comfort: While the room was aesthetically pleasing, it was not properly cleaned. The fan was full of dust, shampoo and lotion bottles were not closed properly, and the bed had not been made by 7pm. The lighting was so poor that we had to use our phone flash to see inside our bags.Breakfast: The breakfast was very limited. Only black coffee, eggs with two sides, and a small basket of four breads (not enough for each person to have one of each type) were provided, and the breads were heated in the microwave. Guests had to choose between a small glass of fruit juice or six fruit slices. Additional bread had to be paid for, which felt unreasonable.Privacy: There was no privacy—opening the curtains meant anyone outside could see inside the room.Service: Some waiters never smiled, though one or two staff were friendly. Receptionists were nice, but despite all our complaints during the stay, nothing was offered in response, except the bread baskets we refused to pay for.Overall, the stay was far below expectations.
    • Nothing really. It was all around great. It's a little pricey generally but we got a good deal on our particular stay so well worth it.

    Atmosphere!!!

Music in the restaurant/beach area was too loud, had to ask for it to be turned down a couple of times...but then it slowly got turned back up. The place is so beautiful you really didn't need house music, made it feel too much like a Cabo beach club from time to time, which it's not. I don't believe that vibe belongs at a place like this... On our last day the ownership was there, rearranging the beach area and taking some of the day beds from the shade into to direct sun. There was already not enough shady areas to keep from cooking in the heat, the staff had it right with the layout they originally had, but I guess the ownership felt it "looked" better their way...they were even debating the placement of copal pots and making a nuisance of themselves near us why we tried to enjoy our last few moments at the hotel in peace and quiet. The evening before I was asked to take down a towel I had hung up on our shade screen to block the sun as I was getting burned. I guess the ownership didn't like it and sent a waiter over to ask that it be removed, would have been nice if they would have come over themselves and explained why they had a problem with it... I guess the comfort of the guests is subject to a form over function debate when the ownership is in town, and they don't subscribe to the hotelier concept that managers should be seen and not heard in a setting such as Nomade.

It’s rare that I’m compelled to pen a review like this after a trip, but this I needed to share. I have travelled extensively and this was unequivocally the best hotel stay I have had.The phenomenal location for the hotel, rooms and restaurant sets the precedent, on a palm-lined patch of beach on the quieter part of Holbox, and the rooms and ambience are stunning and cleaned to the highest standard. There are activities each day, many of which are included and add another dimension to the stay.Above all else, the staff were simply incredible; so friendly, personable, attentive and knowledgeable about all the dishes, drinks, activities and local wildlife. We wanted for nothing at any time, and the front desk team were more than happy to help with taxis, excursions, bookings at any time. They remembered guests by first names as well as room numbers which is a lovely touch. The food at the restaurant is out of this world. So flavourful and fresh with lots of choice, the cocktails are outstanding and the service impeccable. Of course the location speaks for itself: it’s the best sunset spot on the whole of Holbox and away from the main crowds, but still so close to the centre that you can walk. Overall a genuine 10/10. Thank you Cristy, Andy, Riy, Roberto, Isaias, Armando and Naomi. You are all amazing. I’m sorry if I forgot any names. You made the experience what it was, so thank you. We will be back!

I didn’t like that the trip had to end!

The special vibe, the hotel is like a temple in an Indiana Jones movie. Love all the vegetation. The restaurant is great, swimming pool very cool and the staff very friendly

Accessibility to towels and water and more shade in the beach area

The property and accommodations are beautiful, private and with an emphasis on nestling into nature. The staff is warm, friendly and attentive. Spectacular food and drinks overlooking the crystal clear Gulf. Amazing sunsets.

    Nothing comes to mind

Surprise prices and charges, bad showers

Where to begin! First of all I think it’s important to understand that this property is completely immersed in nature. In fact their slogan on their room keys is “our ode to nature”. The rooms are hidden in lush green vegetation which I simply loved. It felt like you were in the rain forest. Because of the close connection to nature of course there is going to be animals, such as (harmless) iguanas around the place. If this bothers you then this isn’t the place for you. I adored the visual design of this place, the attention to detail was outstanding, luxurious boho vibes. We were totally blown away when we arrived! The hotel has its own private beach area where you can spend the day sunbathing, reading in the shade, or swimming.

While I liked the bathroom being outside, the toilet room was always full of mosquitos!! I was eaten alive out there

The property is nice. The staff are nice. The beach club is enjoyable during the day.

I’m trying to not let my opinion of Holbox influence my opinion of Nomade but it’s difficult. I’ve been all over the world, Holbox is the worst place I’ve been—you couldn’t pay me to return. It’s so bad it’s almost laughable if it wasn’t so expensive. The island is one huge open air sewer. It’s covered in trash, debris, and human waste. People who call this place paradise puzzle me, maybe they’ve never been anywhere else. I don’t know. Beyond that, you cannot sleep at night because of the noise. Even 1 mile from the town, the music is so loud it shakes the flimsy canvas walls of your “room”. There is nothing peaceful, relaxing, or serene to be had here. The music goes until 4-5am. I’ve lived in NYC my entire life and I’m very used to noise…this was unrelenting torture. The opposite of a relaxing vacation. The food is not good. Breakfast is OK, tacos are decent. Everything else is truly bad. Had an empanada that was so tremendously gross I’ll never forget it the rest of my life. It will haunt me the rest of my days. I think it was filled with actual dirt. That’s the only explanation I have for how it could be so bad.Beyond that, the ceviche was borderline inedible. I had a burger that tasted like baby food. And I was foolish enough to order gnocchi one night—it was rock hard. I forced it down out of pure hunger. Just across the board, bad food. Go eat in the town center, it’s slightly better but also mostly not good. For NYC prices, the food is unacceptable. The outdoor bathrooms are another thing. It’s part of the vibe I guess but it’s not great at night to be peeing outside in the dark using your cell phone for light. There are massive iguanas that you do not want to be stepping on at night. The shower is also exposed so if anyone walks up to your tent they will have a full view of you showering—if you care. I don’t but it’s worth noting.Overall, I couldn’t

The hotel, its design and aesthetic is outstanding. The beach location is stunning. The activities (yoga, etc.) are taught brilliantly.

The hotel is horrendously overpriced. And that comes from someone who lives in london. Two glasses of house white wine cost £34.81 ($43.77 USD). If you want to stay at Nomade, I would recommend that you get breakfast included in the price, but eat lunch and dinner at restaurants elsewhere. The island has some of the best Mexican food.

A beautiful relaxing hotel right on the beach with very friendly staff.

    10DuncanPosted on: 2-13-2025

An almost perfect stay. Location, vibe, staff, restaurant.

The bed was hard. The bathroom being outside (bugs and mosquitos aren't fun to deal with when using the toilet and shower).

    10JasminePosted on: 2-12-2025

Everything!! The staff couldn’t do more for us, all the activities included and all staff made such an effort to make the stay top tier even when there was a day of heavy rain!

Harder to cycle to when the rain is heavy, but the taxis can get everywhere instead

The staff has been incredibly friendly, very clean rooms, fantastic breakfast and also the offered yoga and pilates classes in the morning and afternoon activities have been much appreciated. The location is beautiful and doesn’t want to make you leave this paradise. Also the beach was clean, and the sunbeds are nicely located with enough space inbetween each other. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a place to recharge and relax!

The humidity in the regular room is slightly high, but I guess that just comes with the location. Other than that, nothing to add.

Everything was amazing, really friendly staff, very beautiful hotel, great food and beach lounge area. Spectacular stay

Fantastic location and beautiful rooms. The restaurant had incredible food. Loved the yoga space in the mornings. The service from the staff was excellent.

Coffee was not very good. They can work on their espresso making skills. Would have been nice if they had a hot water pool for the evenings. Would have liked to see more vegetarian options on the menu.

    7EdwardPosted on: 9-28-2024

Good location away from the hustle and bustle.

Cocktails were as expensive as London but not very good quality. You also get charged additional fees on top of service on consumables at the end of your stay if you opt to pay on a tab. You don’t get this additional 20% fee if you pay as you go.

We had an amazing time at Nomade. It was such a unique hotel, with lots of relaxing and active activities. We made sure to try them all! Some of them we hadn’t heard of before so it was a great and new experience. It was right on the beach, also with a lovely pool to dip in. If you wanted to you could spend all day in the hotel. The staff were lovely and really helpful, and helped me arrange all my travel (which was especially early) back to Cancun airport! They even bought my ferry tickets for me. Whenever I needed anything I could what’s app and things were sorted and responded to immediately. Really recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Isla Holbox. It’s more of an experience than just a place to stay.

They just needed some more parasites for us brits, that need a bit of shade from the strong sun! And it would be nice to have breakfast included with booking.com.
