    • The hotel is good but the areas around are full of piles of garbage. I'm not referring aboutconstruction debris, but piles of garbage everywhere you look.
    • Amazing views of the sea from both restaurants. The staff were very accommodating for our anniversary and the hotel also has access to the shared areas of their other hotel spirit which was great for a change. The best thing was being able to sit by the sea every morning.
    • The location was ok , staff were very friendly

    Cons -

    • The rooms are a bit small for the price.
    • I paid for ocean view and had no view to speak of , also room description stated living room and mini bar , we did not have this type room , when I asked to make sure we had the correct room, the manager acted like he had no clue what happened , perhaps booking had the description wrong , no discount or apology was offered.. don’t book this if your expecting ocean view , you will see trees, there is probably 1 room that has ocean view
    • It was all great!

HAU was perfect, better than expected. The hotel is small, clean, and quiet. Loved the rooftop pool! Steps from the beach, and in a quieter zone than downtown. A pleasant walk downtown, either by the beach or by the road. It's located a bit away from the main roads, so the noise of the taxis wasn't an issue at all. Also, the Beach Club at the front played music at a very comfortable volume. You'll have a great taqueria and pizza place really close, so if you don't want to go downtown every day, you're covered.David and Guillermo were great, and the free water was always cold, which was a real blessing. Will definitely stay there again.

Amazing hotel, with great facilities, beautiful view and very relaxing vibe. We loved the different pools and nice beach. We loved the great cocktails, especially during happy hour. We have a great time there and would come back! Breakfast was amazing, directly on the beach!

    It was all great!

Away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of town which is good if you’re happy to walk (which we were). June was VERY humid though so definitely take that into consideration when booking to stay here.

Honestly VERY mixed feelings about this place. We didn’t complain during our stay because honestly we just felt bad and are not one to cause a fuss over small things but I think people need to be aware of things we wish we knew before booking because all of these small things really added up... Day we arrived, sat down for lunch and only one vegetarian option available - pasta. Sorry can’t have that in till 6pm even though it was given to us on lunch menu. Another night we were given a 10% voucher for the pizza restaurant (which can only be used between 7pm-10pm). Went upstairs where we were told it is. No server, no bar, no menus, might as well have been invisible to person there. Asked for menu and they bring it up from beach bar where we could have just gone instead??. Order margarita pizza told no tomato... Another afternoon, while packing to leave, we get hungry so we thought we’d try the pizza again. Sorry no pizza until after 2pm!?! The same day, our last night, we wanted to have a nice brownie and watch the sunset - surprise surprise no brownie available. I lost track of all the rules of when we could and couldnt eat and what was actually available to us to eat. It was EXTREMELY frustrating. Breakfast doesn’t start until 8am and there’s no coffe/tea kettle in the room so can’t have coffee until they open. Service at breakfast takes FOREVER. Add an extra half an hour to your planning if you have a tour to go on….. also it’s a continental breakfast that is the EXACT same every day. You can change the egg option but you don’t “self-serve” it’s pre plated and nothing changes. Same cookie every single day. Exact same fruit. Exact same everything. I felt like we were in Groundhog Day and the bread which I think was meant to be toasted just tasted stale. No fridge in the standard room even though plenty of space. Tiny water heaters so shower run out of hot water. Also no face cloths or hand towels in the room.

Everything, the breakfast was included and it was very complete and delicious, the staff was very friendly and welcoming, nice location.

Beautiful beach front hotel. Rooms are very clean.

The rooms are great but need a table or chair to put your stuff

    10BeatrizPosted on: 5-21-2025

the room is very clean and has what you may need, nothing fancy but but cute, the beach is pretty.I found out depending on the season the sargasso is bad in some areas, breakfasts were good in front of the beach. We walked every place , even to Punta Mosquito and it was far but with breaks it was fine.

I had no complaints on the hotel.

The views from the balconies were beautiful. It allowed us to enjoy the spectacular sunsets each night. The staff was extremely helpful and made the stay even better. Our family joined us for part of the vacation and they thoroughly enjoyed the facilities. We were able to walk downtown or stay on the quieter end of the island. The breakfast was consistent and offered more than just a continental breakfast.

A few more choices for breakfast would have been nice.

Great property, clean, comfortable and right on the beach front. We enjoyed its location out of the hustle and bustle, and it was an easy 15 min walk to town.

Could use some towel hooks for the room. No where to hang wet items except a close line in the shower. Beach club was also a little pricey, but plenty of option food options around the accommodation.

Location on the beach and close to eatery . Great staff & hotel breakfast!

The hotel has nice and clean rooms. The food was really good (the included breakfast was the same everyday). The beach was really nice

The air conditioning was not working for the first 2 days of our stay, until someone finally came and fixed it. One night we had no water. The pool was not the cleanest, and some of the staff seemed a bit angry. Alberto was though - the kindest off the staff, also the receptionists were super nice

The hotel looks nice and is clean. The room was excellent and upgrading to the king room was a good choice for the table and the fridge and the extra space. The bed was hard, though I have yet to find a soft bed in Mexico! The pool is refreshing and the beach out front (although it has weird concrete, old wood posts, and barriers) is beautiful! There was no seaweed collecting on the beach out front which was a plus. Walking down the beach into the downtown area is easy (though at high tide there is one stretch that gets really clogged up with seaweed and I would recommend walking the road for that part). The beach loungers were great and the umbrellas provided nice shade. Unfortunately the music starts early and doesn’t stop until 10pm. Some days it was a manageable volume level and other days it was so loud that I was hard to have a conversation. Sometimes it was EDM and sometimes it was American pop or Latino music (which is preferred since it is Mexico). All of the hotels seem to do this so finding quiet is HARD. We would walk around the point towards Punta Cocos to find some shady spots to relax away from the pumping music. Would not really recommend that food at the hotel as it is very expensive and not very Mexican. We ate the breakfast, which was tasty and sometimes added eggs for 100 pesos. The last 3 days they changed the menu and offered the brunch special as the free breakfast which included an omelette or scrambled eggs with 2 ingredients. That was a welcome change! The staff at breakfast were generally good, though you often had to ask directly for what you wanted. They are not overly friendly and don’t exactly go out of their way to help you. I think this is a Holbox thing though from what we experienced outside of the hotel. We had an issue with our hotel room being right next to the reception area. It was okay during the weekdays when we arrived but on the weekend it was very loud and busy.

The beach in front of the hotel is beautiful. The staff was incredibly kind at all times, especially Paco at the reception. You almost don‘t want to leave your hotel to do things around the island because it so nice.

    10DanielaPosted on: 3-22-2025

Very friendly. Nice, calm place to stay.

As pointed out by others, the breakfast is really basic.

    10CeciliaPosted on: 3-17-2025

Great rooms, excellent staff, good restaurant

The ocean water, not so beautiful. The beach has lots of shells so hard to walk on with no shoes.

    6LeviPosted on: 3-1-2025

    Nice setting, good pizza

The rooms were dark and had a damp smell, staff weren’t attentive (I know it’s an island but this was verging on ridiculous), the breakfast was very poor. It’s a small amount of fruit, a piece of rock hard bread, a rampikin of yogurt and a cookie. Strange altogether. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

    8MichelePosted on: 2-26-2025

Staff was very friendly and helpful. It was quiet and relaxing if that is what you were looking for

Seemed to be a lot of large rocks on the beach.

Nice location on the beach but a very small hotel with at least a 30 min walk on clay and water logged roads and no public transport. The centro is more typically Mexican and some great bars - bikini bottom on the beach and monono for super fresh japanese dishes. Bar/restaurant staff were lovely and friendly.

Nobody warned us of the distance into the town from the hotel! 30 min walking on dreadful roads, particularly after rain, which was torrential when we were there in late Feb. Walking back from town after 6.30pm is very hazardous as bumpy uneven, water logged roads full of rubbish and no street lights on at least half of the walk. The hotel room was big and sea facing(we were paying 200 US per night) but very noisy. The room was on the ground floor with a window which we couldn't open and which gave directly onto the bar and beach area so absolutely no privacy. Music from Hotel Beach Bar was inescapable and went on until 10.30 pm every night. Had to keep curtains closed. We had a visit from at least 2 cockroaches. They took our bathroom towels one day and then told us they couldn't replace them and to use the beach towels. We asked to move rooms and were told no with no discussion or explanation. The hotel is totally surrounded by building sites, so rubbish everywhere on the road as well as enormous craters full of water to negotiate if you go out. It cost 10 US$ to get one of the cart/ large quad bike taxis from the ferry port to the hotel and the same if you want to get back from town. They are the only solution to get to or from the hotel with luggage because of awful clay filled roads, which are not roads but muddy, bumpy wide tracks.Holbox will be horrible in a few years' time with over tourism. It is ok now, but there are plenty of Mexican beach places that are so much better.Breakfast is limited to 2 small pieces of completely dry toast, some fruit and a tiny dish of yoghurt and granola, and a biscuit. If you want eggs, it's 5US$ extra. We were there 3 days, and our rate included breakfast, and toast was too hard to eat every day. The breakfast staff were always friendly and polite, which helped. You get flavoured water as juice every day with breakfast, but it failed to turn up on 2 of the days!
