We could hear our neighbors.

Good located In front of the beach
They are building next to it a huge hotel wich makes it very noisy also a bit of seaweed but you can just walk anywhere else where there isn’t .
Location and beach.
No TV in room.
Great location and very nice staff. The room was clean. The beach bar was with very nice sunset view!!
They could clean and take care of the seaweed in front of the beach area. It’s too much and smells bad. The beach is very nice and it’s shame they don’t clean it.
Lovely staff and beautiful site.Setup for maximum relaxation.Great sundown place with house DJs to watch the sun drop.Nice touches like free filtered water.Resident raccoons can be seen at night
Looks like a big hotel is being built right next door (April 2025).Relatively expensive but then most things are heading that way on Holbox.
The staff was absolutely amazing! Ricky & Fernando were so nice and attentive! But the staff at the restaurant and at breakfast were also so nice. Zomay is the best! I will be back!
Pros:Shower was excellent. Room design is exactly what we were looking for. Great balcony from the second floor of our room. Beautiful grounds. Mattress was very comfortable. Water service and refill was convenient.Cons:AC blew right on heads in bed. We could not use it. We had a leak in our room from the heavy rain. Breakfast is so so. Beach not in the best location on the island.
The location and proximity to the beach, as well as the beautiful grounds were my favorite things about Zomay. The free breakfast was delicious and the location and views of the restaurant are fantastic.
There could be more hooks inside the room and bathroom for hanging up wet bathing suits and towels, as well as more hangers for hanging up clothing.
Close to the beach & restaurants
Price quality ratio!!! (200 EUR per night for cabin)This is no value for money! Shower was cold for three days.Outdated furniture / bathroom. No high standard for breakfast.Promised compensation not fulfilled after months of reminders.I normally do not leave reviews, but please be warned. You should not pay more than 75 EUR per night.
Fantastic location, beautiful tropical gardens right in beachfront. Lovely staff, so helpful and pleasant.
There was construction work going on next door but not at weekends and they were very respectful so in the end it didn’t present a problem.
We had the pleasure of staying five nights at Hotel Zomay on the beautiful island of Holbox, and it was an absolute dream! The rooms may not be the newest, but they have exactly the authentic charm you’d want for a relaxing beach getaway. Everything was very clean and well-maintained, and the proximity to the beach is unbeatable. What impressed us the most was the beautifully designed hotel grounds, full of tropical plants and cozy spots that create a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. The entire team was incredibly friendly and welcoming—you can tell they love what they do. Ricardo was a fantastic host, providing us with lots of great tips and always happy to chat. The bar and restaurant staff were also very attentive and quick, making us feel right at home. The breakfast was a real highlight! Compared to many other hotels in Mexico, it was varied, delicious, and of great quality—a fantastic way to start the day.Hotel Zomay is the ideal place for anyone looking for a relaxing and authentic getaway on Holbox. The combination of a fantastic location, warm hospitality, and a laid-back atmosphere won us over completely. We would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend this hotel!
The location on the beach with the beach bar was a winner, although the beach is wider and the sea easier to access further along to the east. Sun loungers/daybeds etc with and without shade were available whenever we needed. When the building work was not happening next door, (Sunday) the atmosphere was very chill and peaceful by the rooms, even if the bar by the beach was playing music. WiFi was free and worked well. Breakfast was decent with selection from a menu, including some Mexican options. The staff were generally friendly. Air conditioning worked well.
Holbox in general is expensive for Mexico and that was reflected in the pricing here. For the money paid, I would expect much more from the room. Whilst I understood that the vibe of the island was boutique etc, the rooms here, and indeed the hotel vibe in general, remind me more of private rooms at a hostel. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the cleanliness was not great. The shower didn't drain, a hand towel was not provided the first two days and when it was, it had stains on it. Three inadequate pillows were provided on a hard double bed. We chose Zomay because it was literally next door to a villa our friends were staying at and it was on the beach but I would have shopped around more based on the pictures etc if not.The hotel provided three paddleboards but there was only one paddle, which had lost its ability to extend. During a brief but intense rainstorm, our roof leaked in one spot which was where we had stored our luggage. There is currently a big building project next door which will seemingly be ongoing for the first half of 2025 at least. This created building noise all day (not at night). It didn't affect the atmosphere down by the beach but was noticeable from our room. Luckily, we did not spend much time in the room itself but if you had jetlag or little kids that need sleep during the day, this could be problematic. In the long term, it looks like the building will be another hotel so this may impact Zomay - it has already eaten into the view from our balcony.
The amenities and the beach club were amazing. The staff were extremely friendly.
The beds were super uncomfortable. Extremely hard mattresses, mosquito nets with holes, we had rain one night and the roof leaked water onto the bed. At one point (3am) the AC started SCREAMING at us - not sure what happened but it was making a crazy loud noise. The food from the beach club was very average. You’re paying for beach club access and breakfast. Other than that, it’s definitely overpriced.
The hotel room and beach were very nice.
The music at the beach bar was too loud for us.
the location was the best with an infant as it is very close to the sea and did not take much effort to spend the days. the staff (Carmen, Coco, Daniele) was very friendly and helpful to solve problems. the food and the drinks were good. the baby was happy over all and we also were. there were different musicians and djs at sunset on the beach. plenty of different spaces. birds singing.
the cleaning process can be improved as having a baby that sleeps during also the morning it was difficult even asking to perform the cleaning in the times it was supposed to be performed. the pillow of the bed was not the best. I slept without in order to avoid neck ache. the toilet ( in the room we had) did not have natural air or forced air so it accumulates bad smell. at the moment there is a construction site near so during the day there might be some noise near the houses ( not so much on the beach) and I think for another year it will be so, maybe it will become less noise as at the moment they are doing the metal work.
The lounge area and vibe on the beach were nice. That's about it.
Please be advised that this is a budget hotel at a nice hotel price. There is nothing nice about the room aside from the fact that it has A/C. The bed and pillows extremely uncomfortable and only a top sheet provided (no blankets). I was given no towels upon arrival and had to ask for them twice. The response was "we entered your room to see that in fact you weren't given any towels" and left one thread-bare towel. Rooms are dark and dingy. Patio useless due to mosquitos. Zero amenities. There was never anyone at the reception. Given a bottle of water to refill but there was never water to refill it with. My door also didn't lock to which the response was "holbox is very safe". They came to fix it but the same night it still didn't lock from the inside. Asked one staff member if they had any bug spray i could use and was literally laughed at. To top things off, I left my computer charger in the safe that didn't work and notified them immediately but it couldn't be found. There are MANY other options at far better prices nearby - everything is close to the beach so being "beachfront" with no view is no different. Definitely regretted my choice of accommodation.
Best place in Holbox! right on the beach, with cool bean bags, hammocks and beds, and relaxing atmosphere. in addition they have a huge garden with more than 50 palm trees. Nice cafe and bar, food was great and fresh! Staff is very friendly and helpful.
They upgraded us when they heard we were traveling on our honeymoon. The beach club was nice. Our room had a big balcony which was great.
There was a bit of sand on our floor. Beach bar was somewhat expensive.
the beach and staff were nice. the rooms were not clean
