    Pros +

    • Super convenient location for doing a day trip hike on Nakasendo trail. Staff was very helpful.
    • Friendly staff, great location for hiking the nakasendo, very clean
    • Very reasonably priced - good value for money. Nice common room on the ground floor. Welcoming staff.

    Cons -

    • Not a place for elderly or people with mobility problems as the stairs to the upper floors are difficult.
    • The name implies traditional Japanese lodging, but in fact it has been renovated to more of a standard hotel and feels like a hostel. Our room was smaller than those pictured and lacked any space for luggage whatsoever. The biggest issue was that the walls are poorly insulated, so we were continually woken up by other guests opening and closing their doors
    • As we were on the third floor, the two women in our group had to go downstairs to the second floor for toilet and shower facilities. Otherwise, all good.

Very clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Great location close to the train station.

A traditional Japanese-style futon room with a pleasant scent of fresh straw mats. 5 mins to the railway and bus station.

Really clean, with a friendly “mountain” vibe. It definitely put us in the mood of being on a hike (nakasendo trail) by staying there. The staff was super friendly.Shared bathrooms and toilet were clean. A few steps away from the train station which is pretty awesome too.

    convenient to the train station

Small lounge area is ucomfortable, needs at least some seat pads for the benches. Beverages are expensive- beer 1000 Yen. Breakfast offerings are minimal.

So close to the station, friendly and helpful staff, very comfortable with clean/high-quality bathroom and shower amenities. Lots of good restaurants nearby.

    10IlanPosted on: 11-6-2025

    Size, comfort, location - great

    10AndrewPosted on: 11-5-2025

I really liked the vibe of this place. Quiet throughout the day and night, jazz music softly playing, very friendly and helpful staff people, and the location was great. The room was clean, spacious and the bedding was super comfy and warm.

I can't think of anything I didn't like here. I would definitely book here again if I ever have an opportunity to come back to Nakatsugawa.

    9AnnaPosted on: 11-5-2025

The location was great. Staffs were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The water dispenser and the laundry machine were available 24 hours a day.

    10BarbaraPosted on: 11-2-2025

The staff was exceptionally friendly and answered all our questions and took care of luggage forwarding right from the Ryokan at a reasonable price.

    I liked the entire experience

location to station was excellent, very clean and responsive staff

more information about getting by foot to nakasendo trail would be helpful. Directions were vague and maps were unavailable. GOS went in and out

    9renatoPosted on: 9-22-2025

Very close to the station, could not be better

Some street noise pass through without any barrier, maybe cause of not real wall maybe

    8DaniellePosted on: 9-21-2025

The staff was excellent ! Kind and welcoming. We ordered their burger at the bar which was delicious. Perfect location

The AC in the room was a bit slow and we didnt really feel it.

    9IliaPosted on: 8-4-2025

The hotel is a few minutes away from the train stations. There are many restaurants in the area. The first floor is nicely decorated and provides tips for travels in the area. They also provide a simple complimentary breakfast (packaged soups and pastries).

Toilets/showers for men and women are on different floors.

We stayed at this Ryokan as a family of 4 and had a great time. Our 12yo had fun making Origami while our 18yo was working on the puzzle. Everything was clean and the room was spacious. It is also a few minutes walk from the bus/train station. The staff was so helpful and when we discovered we made a mistake in our reservation and were missing a night, even though the Ryokan was already full (and they didn’t owe us anything, because it was our mistake) they offered us an Airbnb they operated close by without additional cost. That was so helpful and nice of them.

    7Shane-WoeiPosted on: 5-22-2025

    Great location !

Shared bathroom and shared toilet are not convenient! No breakfast like ryokan use to provide.

    6BiancaPosted on: 4-29-2025

The location was great. Right near the station and lots of food

Not very comfortable. Shared bathrooms. Very noisy building and thin walls
