    Pros +

    • Attentive staff, enjoyable location: wish there was more information about Awaji Island because there's a lot to do on island: cycling and motorcycling destination: roads good, variation & beautiful views, botanical garden excellent and worth a visit, Isamu Noguchi's garden-studio is only 1hr away and should be included in "Art Island" itinerary along with botanical garden which features Ando designed garden. Island isn't mentioned in Lonely Planet's Japan guide book. Also, public onsens available ~20mins from resort which doesn't have an onsen. Seems to be a frequent question so notifying guests of alternatives during your stay is a good solution.
    • A peaceful place, perfect size hotel - not too big, not too small. Large spaces, including the room which was great with a terrace overlooking the garden and the lovely swimming pool. Ideal for family with kids. Wonderful restaurant - both the breakfast and the dinner were exceptional in terms of presentation and taste. The chef showed perfect skills to make complex dishes feel light and easy to eat. It's a must experience! The staff of the hotel was lovely - everyone was very kind, helpful and welcoming and made our stay feel like "home". They made extra efforts to accommodate our requests, for example dinner reservation although the restaurant was fully booked. There are many attractions nearby, so it is a perfect combination of a place to relax and explore if you wish to do so.
    • The staff are wonderful. Very polite and helpful. They exceeded my expectations. We had a great stay. The room are clean. I don't have any complaints?

    Cons -

    • All was perfect!
    • Wouldn't change anything
    • No restaurant unless you reserve ahead. Almost no English spoken/written

The hotel staff was very friendly and paid exceptional attention to detail. The accommodations were beautiful, rooms and facilities well maintained, and they also offered superb dining services. The entire staff made us feel special during our time here and we wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely rebook if we're ever in the area again.

    Wouldn't change anything

The rooms are clean and comfortable. Hotel reception staff are also very helpful and friendly to make the stay a memorable one. The hotel has good view for sunset (though it was cloudy during our stay) so we couldn’t catch it.

There is no onsen on site but I think the view and nice room make up for it.

    10EvangelinePosted on: 11-5-2023

Room was very clean including toilet and shower area. Friendly staff.

Very comfortable stay though couldn’t see much of a sea view. Nothing much around the vicinity.

Staff were very professional, friendly and did everything possible to be helpful. Dinner in the French restaurant for our group of six was outstanding. The food and presentation was truly exceptional. Excellent wine list. One of the very best dining experiences we have had anywhere. Great location with views of bridges and water. Beautiful pool.

    9EstherPosted on: 10-1-2023

A very nice, classic hotel overlooking the bay and bridge. The rooms and facilities where clean and comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful and obliging. Breakfast was exceptional!

    10AndrewPosted on: 9-22-2023

Staff were exceptional. I also loved the French restaurant and the history of the property - reminded me of the 80s boom in Japan

    10MatthewPosted on: 6-10-2023

The facilities and hotel itself were comfortable and clean. The staff was incredibly nice and did everything they could to make you happy. The food at the restaurant was superb from the presentation to the quality it was an incredible dining experience.

The rooms were a little outdated and could definitely use a refresh but still were nice and had great views.

    10DoungdaoPosted on: 6-4-2023

the excellent and peaceful location with the beautiful scenery.the breakfast and dinner are great.

Could not find anything that I did not like.

    10SauPosted on: 5-23-2023

All the staffs were so friendly and polite, we communicated without any trouble in English! (I think they speak better English than the hotel staff from Osaka) English tourists will not need to worry about the language! The service was 5-star definitely! It was raining when we arrived and the staffs were already waiting by the door, held umbrella for us and brought the luggage to our room. There was an outdoor pool but it was raining so it was a pity that we couldn’t use it… tennis courts were also free to use!! The room was clean and big, there was the balcony with the view of the Seto bridge(not sure what bridge it was but it was a lovely view) BREAKFAST was AMAZING. Restaurant got great view. We had western style breakfast. It was a set breakfast, small smoothie and small juice (fresh mandarin from the island), salad, small yogurt and fruit jelly, the main which was the eggs Benedict was top notch!! Ps. Coincidentally, the chef of the french restaurant is actually the son of the chef in the town steakhouse (a very homey restaurant as well)!!! We chatted with the manager before we left, again, very friendly. He gave us some cute bookmark made with leafs from the island by the staff to us, such meaningful gifts!!

    10Traveler3333Posted on: 5-2-2023

Great service (perfect English, if you need that). Hotel felt luxurious. Facilities looked great but could not use them since it was too cold. Might be difficult to reach without a car but honestly if you are travelling in this area you should get a car.

    10WingPosted on: 4-19-2023

Staff were helpful, friendly and attentive. The view of bridge from the hotel was also wonderful. We choose Japanese dinner and Western breakfast during our stay and they were so good.

It could be even bettter if Japanese dinner had lesser fish and more others.

    10JanetPosted on: 3-16-2023

As other reviewers have said, a real hotel. staff to greet you, staff everywhere always friendly and attentive. Lovely ambience, awesome view. Dinner in the Japanese Restaurant was excellent - normally needs to be booked in advance and is Keiseki (spelling may be wrong). Many courses, so expensive, have the Sake trio with it.

    10ChrisPosted on: 3-6-2023

Make no mistake, this is a PROPER hotel. From the moment we drove into the car park to the moment we left, the staff were exceptional. Attentive, courteous, welcoming and helpful. We had a room on the upper floor which was huge with two queen beds, bathroom and everything else you could need. The view over the straights to the bridge and Shikoku beyond was amazing and we were treated to a beautiful sunset. We took dinner in the restaurant under a half board package. If you think this looks a little expensive don’t be put off. I think we had 8 or so courses all of which were amazing and beautifully presented. My wife is pescatarian and they accommodated that with ease with no loss of taste or presentation. Wine is available by the glass if you can’t manage a bottle.Breakfast was taken in the same restaurant with a choice of Japanese or western. We opted for the former which was enormous and equal quality to the evening’s meal before. We didn’t have time to check out the other onsite facilities but they looked to be good.Checkout was efficient and in true Ryokan style the staff saw us off from the steps of the hotel until we were out of sight. A wonderful hotel in a great location and the perfect stop off to or from Shikoku. We will definitely return.
