Pros +
- upon check in, we quickly realized that the tents were the only way we would enjoy the property, so when the staff helped us move there (with extra cost $$$), it was pretty perfect.i think this set up might be one of the best in todos santos because it's truly beachfront. the safari tent has a private bonfire right on the sand, so it feels uniquely private. aside from camping, this was the closest i've slept to the ocean and loud waves to lull you in and out of hazy naps and deep rem cycles. absolutely loved that. coffee was brought via tray every morning which was luxe. green room is a restaurant next door with very fresh seafood and decent prices! the massage was really lovely as well - go earlier to relax into the rest of the day
- Villas Santa Cruz is a place you don't want to leave- so we didn't! The owners are wonderful and the staff is top notch. The pools are beautiful, food amazing and beach at the property gorgeous to walk to watch the surfers or sunset. The breakfast is amazing and all the gardens where the food comes from are fun to walk around. Definitely try the passion fruit margarita.
- Beautiful unique property, in a fabulous secluded location. As secluded as it felt, it was still only 10-15 minutes from town.
Cons -
- there's a few things... and this mostly has to do with the value of moneywe really enjoyed our time, at a hefty fee. the property tax and an additional 10% fee is added on any service/food you get. transportation is expensive if you plan on getting into town. about $35 +tax+fees one way is what you're looking at. so that's almost $100 USD to go roundtrip.the decor feels like a costume of mexico, and it checks out when it's a white family from san diego who operates the hotel. the charm of the tiles and patina looks extremely cheap in person and i found it distracting. imagine a vegas hotel opening in 2003 that is mexico themed but it's at the end of the strip... is how i would describe the decor. it just looks really cheap. this place has the costume of lavishness and the staff could be better trained. again, for one of the most pricey spots in town, the service lacks humanity. a $200 carride to the airport arrived for our checkout and to me, it is absolutely insane to me that we carried our luggage across the property. i do expect exceptional service when the price is over $1000USD a night.you can tell the staff is close and family-like, i just don't think they're trained to have the same feeling toward guests. if you want amazing service, paradero (although, not by the beach) offers a memorable stay.all in all, we really loved our stay, but it will cost you money to get it right there. none of these are dealbreakers and we were happy to splurge for the time. i just wish i knew all this ahead of time before i dropped over $3Gs to stay 2 nights here. and if i come back to TS, i feel like cristobal would be our happy medium !
- We don't have any dislikes. The hotel communication before our stay and their help booking our transportation was impeccable.
- Only minor complaint is that the in-house bar shuts just before 10 pm, which feels a bit early if you’re wanting to enjoy a glass of wine with your spouse! It would also be ok if they closed at 10 and didn’t serve further, however they also shut the lights down so there is not a public space to sit and enjoy!

Beautiful property, pristine location, quiet, food was wonderful, garden incredible
The staff was exceptional! We so enjoyed our time sitting at the bar enjoying the best margaritas and dinner with Victor! He was so informative, genuine and helped us with guidance on how to best utilize our time. The staff really made the experience.
Honestly, this place is a total gem. We loved it and can't wait to come back.
Very Nice. Super Clean and tastefully decorated. the staff were professional and amazing
Passable
our rooms were in the main villa... really too close from the kitchen. So that we had all the smell of the kitchen for breakfast / lunch and dinner. Given the price we paid, it's really not acceptable. Moreover, the beach is beautiful... but full of rocks just in front.
The hotel is right on the beach and has gorgeous sunsets. Views from the rooms are beautiful and the pool was pretty. A few cute dogs and a cat live on site that were very friendly. Breakfast included which was nice, easy walk to The Green Room for dinner.
Noise in the main building (blenders, dishes, people talking in the kitchen and lobby) that could all be heard inside the rooms. The size of the first room that we stayed in the first night was so small with an uncomfortable soft bed. The staff was nice enough to move us to another room with more space, but it did not change the noise issue. $800 was a lot for us to spend on two nights and we were disappointed in the cost compared to the value.
Stunning, boutique feel with attentive staff, phenomenal food.
Beautiful rooms, beds were a little small and tended to settle in the middle with two people, but it didn’t keep us from having a rest.
Beautiful isolated and quiet location, excellent for family time, rest, and exceptional ocean views, beach walks, and great heated (solar) pool.
Staff have great attitude, but lack training to be more proactive, and quicker (to pickup used plates and cups from the pool, clean up rooms).
architecture,space, courtesy of staff
the wifi was really weak. didn’t realize the beach wasn’t swimmable
everything!
the bar waiters at the pool that were watching the cross on their phone whilst laughing out & talking loud & the reception area is rather weird and they didn’t give us a lot/enough/the right info always… also we had 3 nights in a row a cat fight / cat meowing on our terrace… ?
The breakfast is included in the stay and it definitely is worth it! It was a full on breakfast that would have cost 60-70 dollars elsewhere and it was homemade! Delicious. They deliver coffee to your room every morning and it was amazing! They also had little treats before bed. Honestly this place was amazing and we can’t wait to come back!
Location was incredibly. Sat watching the whales and pelicans with their delicious breakfast every morning was a total treat and the beach was wonderfully quiet and unspoilt.
wonderful location in front of the sea, very good facilities, beautiful rooms, helpful and nice staff, incredible pool.
although it didn’t ruin our stay, food was definitely not up to par for the level of the place, seemed more like an average texmex than high quality that you would expect from the price, drinks were also average. Also the kitchen noise could be heard in the rooms.
beautiful boutique hotel.
music at pool slightly too loud. it’s a beautiful, peaceful location, waves rolling in, enjoyed relaxing and reading by pool, slightly spoilt by loud music, but they did turn it down when we asked.
We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Santa Cruz. The location is wonderful, the food is delicious and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We first stayed in Mango Bungalow and it is absolutely amazing. Great views, very quiet and very comfortable.
For our last two nights we stayed in Suite Tortuga and it is not the same as Mango but the bed and room are very comfortable. The one complaint I have and if Suite Tortuga or the one next to it were the only ones available I would not stay at Villa Santa Cruz is their is a rooftop sitting area with a fire that is open to everyone. If you are staying in Tortuga and someone decides to have a fire at night you can hear everything. I had to ask a group to please be quiet as I could hear everything and they weren't even loud. Moving of chairs you can hear, putting of firewood into the fire you can hear, I couldn't sleep until the group was done and left the rooftop. I think if there is a rooftop it should only be used during the day by everyone and only the room that shares a ceiling with the rooftop at night, especially when the bed is directly below the fire and sitting area.
We loved our stay at Villa Santa Cruz. Almost everything was perfect (see below)
Our bungalow was next to a new structure still under construction. We were not told in advance which was disappointing. As a result we never had a 100% quiet and private experience while at the bungalow.
ambiance was great, location great, building and restaurants were great, food was good,
our oom in the beautiful building was cute, but the bed and room was a little small, and there was a lot of noise but other than that, it was a fantastic place to be, next time we will stau there again, and then in another room
The complimentary breakfast was amazing every morning and we loved waking up to the waves and beach in our tent suite. It’s pretty secluded and private too which was pretty awesome! The staff was super helpful and friendly as well and the drinks at the pool were perfect. We had an amazing stay and didn’t want to leave by the end!
