Alps Motel & Apartments

Very clean and spacious rooms, the host was really nice and friendly.

It was a perfect stop on our way to Mount Cook. A motel renovated and decorated in good taste I have to mention also that it was extremely clean. With everything inside the room. Kitchen, refrigerator, dishwasher and washer a dryer !! I was impressed.

The location was perfect for us. Market was walkable and had everything we needed. Easy drive to Mt Cook area. Room was very clean, kitchen well stocked and plenty of space. Having washer/dryer in room was added bonus.

There really wasn’t anything we didn’t like.

Very friendly staff and the studios are very comfortable and neat and provide everything you might need! Just around the corner of bars and restaurants.

Excellent location. Nice room and amenities. The proprietors were so accommodating for us in reserving a room last minute due to a medical issue we had.

I honestly was a bit put off by the word “motel” in the name, as that reminds me of some negative experiences from the past. But I was needlessly worried. Our stay at Alps was excellent. The room was big, very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, and the location is a short walk from a supermarket, several good restaurants and bars, and a great little coffee shop and cafe. And it’s only a 40 minute drive to Aoraki / Mt Cook National park. We opted to stay here rather than in Mt. Cook village, and we’re so glad we did. We much preferred the small town atmosphere of Twizel and the price point and quality of Alps Motel over what we saw in Mt. Cook village.

Shower sprayed outside a bit but nothing major.

Self contained unit with plenty of cutlery, plates etc, and a sensible layout of the rooms, and a lift. Easy to find and central, parking readily available.

New, clean, great kitchen ware and close to a grocery store. They even provided fresh milk for our coffee!

The room was spacious and comfortable. The small kitchen had all the items you could want including a dish washer.

Super clean, very large room and it was extremely well stocked. Everything in the room was spotless, clean, probably new. There was ample cutlery and cookware, a fully functioning kitchen. Bathroom was also very large and comfortable.

The room was very clean and we really appreciated having a washer/dryer. The kitchen has all the equipment you need for a short stay - pots, pans, cutting boards, cutlery, etc. The location of the Alps Motel makes it super convenient to get to Mt. Cook National Park. In addition, the owners of the motel are extremely kind and were very helpful when we had questions or needed something. I would stay here again if I were to come back!

During our nearly two-weeks-long trip, we stayed at a different hotel almost every night and this hotel is easily our favorite stay. Not only was the room incredibly clean and modern, but it was also spacious and had a laundry machine (detergent and drying rack provided for free) as well. If we had more leeway in our traveling, we may have stayed one more night. Also, the owners were absolutely lovely people. I highly recommend this hotel!
