    Pros +

    • Our stay at this hotel was absolutely wonderful. From the very beginning, we were welcomed with warm hospitality by the front desk staff, which immediately made us feel comfortable. Upon arrival, we were greeted with refreshing and delicious welcome drinks, and we received all the information and guidance we needed for our stay. The room we received was beautiful, clean, and comfortable, with a stunning view of the sea at sunset. This hotel provides everything you need for a relaxing and pleasant stay. The breakfast was excellent — one of the best we’ve had in hotels across Italy — offering a wide variety of tasty options to suit all tastes.Although the hotel is located slightly outside the city and away from the beach, this was more than compensated for by the convenient free shuttle service. The shuttle regularly runs between the hotel and the railway station, as well as to and from the beach, making it very easy to get around.Overall, we had a great experience and we definitely recommend this hotel to others. We ourselves will surely return in the future.
    • The price we paid for the facilities provided is absolutely value for money. The staff was extremely polite and friendly. They catered to our every request. We did not have a car, so they provided shuttle service to nearby locations and also to Ricadi train station.
    • Modern feel of the hotel. Helpful and friendly staff. Courtesy bus to the beach. Nice swimming pool. Reasonable options for breakfast

    Cons -

    • The location was further out of Capo Vaticao then we thought
    • Room is very small and even the bathroom, there’s no Space to put everything, The selection of food in the restaurant, is very limited, I think I only saw white pasta and pasta with tomato sauce and some linguine with seafood, the rest is more on sushi,
    • What bothered us the most were the dogs in the hotel! They barked and scratched at doors on our floor and even went to the pool. Thankfully, the manager removed them from the restaurant during breakfast. At night, we were also disturbed by music from the restaurant, guests slamming doors, and dogs barking in the hallway. You're on vacation, and you can't get much sleep in this hotel. Dogs should be in a dog hotel. The idea of staying in a room after a dog isn't appealing. Hopefully, the hotel has separate rooms for dogs, but I doubt it.Calabrian evening: Honestly, we expected more. We were bothered by the pre-prepared platters sitting out in the heat with flies buzzing around them. The service should be more coordinated. We waited an extremely long time for drinks, and a lot of the food never reached us. There were five of us, and only part of the family received some dishes. The balconies lack privacy, and we were annoyed by cigarette smoke from next door. The pool needs more frequent cleaning. After our experience with the Calabrian evening, we didn't try the restaurant again.

The vacation in La Bussola Hotel worths it on so many levels!First of all, it was our first trip to Italy, we had no experience and actually no idea what is the better option/region/place to stay. Everything we wanted a vacation near the sea, so a good beach was a priority, not far from some city, cleanliness and a good view. And fortunately we’ve chosen the La Bussola so got everything we wanted and even more.Yes, it was not on beach itself and not in the center of Tropea - that’s something we were worried about before coming here, but it wasn’t a problem at all, as it is still close to the seaside and it takes just a few minutes to get there by car, or especially with the transfer provided by the hotel, it is very convenient and easy, the bus is modern and the driver is very nice! The room was clean (big appreciation to the ladies in charge of that, they were extremely nice and did everything just perfectly, loved them!), if you pay for the room with sea view you’ll get a very beautiful sunsets every evening. The room has a fridge with few bottles of free water and actually everything you need for a basic stay - towels, soap and shower gel/shampoo, hairdryer and AC.Wi-Fi is very good, which is a rare thing for hotels)The area of the hotel is very nice! It’s well maintained, a lot of greenery, fruits, free access to the pool (which appeared to be also not a very common thing for other hotels) and free parking. The pool is just a piece of free paradise!) Also there is a restaurant with very delicious food, live music and perfect service! As we were concerned about our free time and activities it was very helpful, because you can go and have fun any time at evening , just down the stairs (but if you want some peace it is also not a problem, the sounds from the restaurant isn’t that loud and you can barely hear it from the rooms).

The hotel staff was very helpful (though the restaurant staff was less so). The cleaning ladies were nice, regularly cleaned, and replenished supplies. The breakfast was average, with the quality of the juice, coffee, and water being rather poor. It would be good to change the breakfast options occasionally. After a week, you can't even look at the same food anymore.Even though you have to wait a long time for your room upon arrival, it was the best welcome we've ever had (a drink, fruit) and good information upon arrival. The rooms were small and dark, but apart from the fluctuating water temperature in the shower and the lack of soundproofing, everything was fine.

What bothered us the most were the dogs in the hotel! They barked and scratched at doors on our floor and even went to the pool. Thankfully, the manager removed them from the restaurant during breakfast. At night, we were also disturbed by music from the restaurant, guests slamming doors, and dogs barking in the hallway. Staff is amazingly professional from the first to the last contact. Very knowable, nice and willing to help. One can see that the training and systems are on point. But, above all, the people! All the details in the common areas are precious.Pool and lounge area are awesome.Safe and in the shade parking.Shuttles to the beach.Restaurant is modern and looks very good. Breakfast is good! I travel 8-10 times per year in Europe and this was probably one of the best services that I ever had.

The rooms aren’t as good as the rest but they perfectly serve the purpose.

Great location. Shuttle to the beach . Lovely and clean. Excellent pool area. Staff were extremely helpful . Pool service for drinks

QR code only way to order food in the restaurant. I ordered both our meals at the same time. Mine arrived 15 minutes after my husbandand was cold. Sent it back. Waited a further 10 minutes before I had to get up and complain that I had sent it back and no one had bothered to come and see if I was ok. The lady I dealt with was very apologetic and said it was the problem with the QR code ordering was done as soon as it reached the kitchen. Not sure whats wrong with a menu . No dinner for me that night. Didn't eat in the restaurant again . However the breakfasts were lovely

The location was private and a 10 minute drive into Tropea. It had a large beautiful pool with chaise lounge chairs to relax. It was a pleasant surprise. Staff was awesome.

The room has a back porch with an outstanding view. The room was good and good selection of breakfast. It was really good. It has ample locked parking space and good location.

The sushi restaurant located within the hotel waa closed due to family mourning. It would have been appreciated if we were advised before hand since we booked specifically at the hotel to dine at this place!

    9ChristabelPosted on: 9-12-2023

The hotel, and especially the gardens/pool are really nice. There is a sense of calm and peace in this hotel. The staff are incredibly nice and helpful, which made our stay more enjoyable. Fair play to them! The free shuttle service is also an added bonus.

Great staff. Very friendly. Rooms are very clean. Near the beach. Nice pool and the breakfast was very versatile and fresh. We had a room with balcony so after swimming we could hang out our clothes so they could dry.

Maria and her team were amazing hosts. We were a big group (this was a family get-together) and they were always willing to help in any way they could - they definitely went the extra mile to accommodate our many varied requests, and always with a smile! The rooms are spacious and clean and breakfast is delicious and plentiful!! A perfect way to start the day. La Bussola is a couple of kms away from the beach but they willingly transported us back and forth as needed. We would definitely return! Thank you Maria and team for an absolutely wonderful stay!

Breakfast is good, swimming pool is ok

Hotel is far from beach- about 3 km, in describtion it was 800 m. Last shuttle from seashore is at 19, no possibiliry to see sunset.Rooms are dark, beds are narrowHotel is situated near busy highway you hear all time cars passing by

    Absolutely nothing.

Take care booking this hotel!! I booked 4 months in advance only to receive notice 2 days before arrival they could not honor their commitment. They instead told me they could arrange rooms at a "partner hotel" with equal or better ratings and amenities. The hotel we were sent to was NOT equal in any way. The pool was 700 meters away at a different site!! As you can tell, I'm not happy about this but wanted to share my experience so you can make an informed choice while booking a hotel in Tropea. Be careful!!!
