    • Nothing amazing unless you have kids. Close to the beach though. We booked it last minute. Fine for a nights rest but would only stay longer if you have children.
    • The location was excellent, with very easy access to the beach directly from the hotel, which made our stay much more convenient and enjoyable. The breakfast and dinner were tasty and offered a good variety of options to eat, and the swimming pools were clean, fun, and well-maintained, providing great moments of relaxation for both adults and children.
    • Super location and very nice for families

    Cons -

    • Dated
    • On the negative side, the meal times could be better, as they started quite late, which was sometimes inconvenient, especially for families with young children. Another point that could be improved is the air conditioning: in our apartment it was only available in the living room and not in the bedroom, which made sleeping less comfortable on warmer nights.
    • Room was not smeling good and not very clean

This resort is designed for families with small children, and for that it's great. I would not recommend it for any other demographic. There are two beautiful pools (open from 8 am to 8 pm), one for kids, and one for parents with kids. The pools are for playing, although I suppose someone who gets there at 8 am would be able to swim laps without getting bonked by a large unicorn inflatable toy.The meals are served buffet style. While the food isn't up to Club Med standards (for example), it's perfectly good and there were a few nice surprises. In any case, kids will find plenty to eat. We were on half-pension, which meant breakfast & dinner. That was plenty of food, really. One day we were allowed to trade dinner for lunch, and that wasn't a problem. No drinks (except tap water) are included for lunch and dinner. Coffee (real espresso available), tea, juices, and bottled water (both regular and sparkling) are included with breakfast. And there's a huge machine that squeezes fresh orange juice (breakfast only). The rooms are not luxurious but are functional, clean, and comfortable, and our room (a typical family room, I think) had a bedroom for two and a living-room with a sofa / trundle bed. We have only one child, but a second child wouldn't have been a problem. There was also a tiny but useful kitchenette, complete with plates, sink, mini-fridge and cookware. The wifi is included...and mediocre.Even though our daughter is shy, she enjoyed spending a few hours each day at the mini-club. The staff were all very friendly and engaged. In fact, I would say that about everyone who works there: friendly, helpful people. The waiters in the restaurant, the people at reception, and the concierges. The concierges helped us to organize our excursions. The one we spoke to the most (Judit), was from a nearby town and had lots of good suggestions. The after-dinner shows were fun--and again, pretty much aimed at kids.

There's a beach right near the resort, which is nice, but other than that the surroundings are a tourist wasteland, with overpriced restaurants and Polynesian-themed bars. Other than a walk to the beach to enjoy the sunset, there really isn't much exploring to be done on foot, in the immediate vicinity. Most of the guests were Spanish, German, French, English, or Italian. No Americans, as far as I could tell, and few if any Catalans. Also, the pool is the center of the resort. There aren't many other activities. If you don't like spending lots of time at a pool, go somewhere else.

Perfect hotel for a family holiday! Everything is adapted to kids, from the room to the pool, animation, sport. Location is just infront of the great beach, so I reccomend the sea view room. The staff is also great, polite and smiling.

There was an invation of flies, little ones on every corner,, that was the only bad part

    9DanielPosted on: 7-29-2024

A lot of activities for children of all ages.Could not fault the facilities on offerChoice of meals was fresh and abundant and we enjoyed the different themes each night. The freshly cooked fish and meats was a bit hit and miss, dependant on the cook and how busy it got. But overall a 9 out of 10....Appreciated that there was so much different fish to choose from each night.Entertainment varied. Catered for younger kids first and then adults.

The sofa bed mattress was quite hard. They quickly resolved this by bring a mattress topper.

    - the swimming pools! The kids one is great for younger children and the larger one is huge and perfect for the whole family to enjoy. -kikkoland (kids play area) is a large area with so many activities for the kids to enjoy. You can choose to drop your kid off there or stay and play with them. There is a bouncy castle, a mini soft play with slides and ball pit, playground, arts and crafts, giant building bricks and a special baby area with swings and toys for younger children. This area is hugely under-advertised and such a pro for families with young children. - las basilicas restaurant was our favourite. We.have stayed at multiple family hotels now and this is definitely the best buffet. The fresh pasta and pizza every night was delicious..- we hired a buggy for the whole week for 15 euros- there was an onsite doctor. He came within 5 minutes of us calling him to see both our children who needed antibiotics. - there is a handy tunnel for access to the beach- evening entertainment. The most popular kids disco we have seen and some fun shows such as acrobats and magic bubbles. - I also want to add the hotel must have taken into account the reviews that stated knives were kept in low down drawers. They had installed a knife rack up high in the kitchenette so my toddler just played with the recycling bins rather than the knives. - not too noisy. Some family hotels have loud music playing all day. This wasn't the case. There was the odd loud aqua aerobics class but it wasn't long and the music was very fun. We would recommend it to friends.

The double bed was two twin beds and made up as such. Would have been nice to have an actual double. So these are being very fussy but....Needed a bit more storage as a family of 4 in our room. Nowhere to hang long dresses in the wardrobe and even my husband's shirts creased at the bottom. Bedroom lights very bright. No dimmer light for bedtime reading.

amazing swimming pools and great activities for adults and for kids. The area around the hotel is also great, plenty of things to visit.

This was our first time holiday with kid in this type of resort and I was really astonished. We decided according the very good reviews and it was worthy of it. All people working there are really kind and trying as hard as possible to make your stay memorable. As it is "family" place, there were kids of very small age everywhere, and I liked a lot the preparedness of all facilities for it, especially two restaurants, where you automatically get a chair for a small kid, even a bib. Such small details surprised me and I admire the all employees who were managing very well all types of situations, mainly the busy breakfast and dinners, where kids are running everywhere. All spaces all cleaned every day, the access to beach is very practical and easy, the nature around is beautiful. We had a really great stay, thanks a lot.

The proximity to the beach was great. We loved the room and Kiko Land was brilliant. Most of the staff were extremely friendly and polite. The food was really excellent although the restaurants were extremely busy.

When we arrived we were told I'd booked a room for 2 adults, not 4. I had to provide my booking reference to prove that I had booked for 4. The member of staff then said I might have to pay more despite me providing the booking confirmation for 4 adults and a baby! I provided the confirmation from both booking.com and the hotel. 4 adults, 1 baby at agreed price. The member of staff said I'd have to speak to the manager .. Manager wasn't available.. come back tomorrow. So it ruined the first night due to worry that I'd be charged extra! In the end, my price was correct and it was the hotels mistake... not a nice welcome! The music by the main pool far too loud all day. Between Kiko land and the pool, they is no quiet place to be.

Travelling with young kids can be hard, this place makes it seem easy. Everything is so well set up for families: the pools and entertainment were great fun, the food was good, the staff were friendly - it gets everything right.

Only two pieces of hopefully constructive feedback on the rooms: 1. Within five minutes my two year old had opened the cutlery drawer in the kitchenette, which contained the sharp kitchen knives. We moved them, but maybe they can be placed in a rack in the overhead cupboard. 2. We loved the little sink in the bathroom for kids. Our toddler wasn’t quite tall enough to reach it though - a little stool that could be slotted underneath it would be great so little kids could reach the taps.

Very good option for families with children. The apartments are great, everything is for kids (the apartment has a small bathroom with a children's toilet bowl, a children's basin, etc.). The pools are great. Location is also very good, with direct access to the beach

Some small things could be improved. It would be nice to have some bottles of water in the apartment, it is barely acceptable that you could only change towels in pre-determined days; it is hard to understand why fresh orange juice is only available at breakfast some days per week...

loved the variety of breakfast each day had everything you needed for children plates spooned etc both the pools were brilliant

Great selection and quality of food at both restaurants, we loved the daily grilled steak and fish to order. The animation team delivered a very good balance of activities during the day. Our children didn't go to the kids club but they did take part in some of the activities when they came to the main pool, equally we enjoyed the aqua aerobics sessions which we've never done before! The beach is amazing with warm clear waters, very easy to get to from the hotel. Tip - there is a box before the beach tunnel where people leave behind sand and pool toys, check this box before going to the supermarket!

Very little to dislike, being very picky I would say the shower door was a little awkward.

Exceptional stay at Royal Son Bou. Perfect for families, many activities for the kids and wonderful beach close by. Staff is very friendly and helpful, I would definitely return to this hotel without thinking! Pools are great, food is very good for a buffet and there are good restaurants nearby also, would definitely recommend without thinking twice!

    Nothing, perfect stay

    10JustinPosted on: 5-24-2023

Very clean, almost on the beach, great atmosphere, friendly staff, fantastic facilities.

I can't think of any downsides, but 1 thing I would mention is that I would have loved to upgrade to all inclusive, however I found that a little pricey. With all inclusive we had a 1 year old so did not over indulge in drink and had to go back to the room at 19.00 each day to put him to bed, so all inclusive would not have been worth it to us with us not drinking very much alcohol. It's a shame because it would have been nice to pop to the bar throughout the day and not have to go out each day to get lunch.
