Pros +
- The breakfast was good, with lots of variety, although it did become a bit repetitive after a few days. We were really happy with the four swimming pools. The communal areas were spacious, which made the atmosphere feel relaxed and comfortable. During peak times, waiting for the lift could take a bit longer, which made us realize how many guests the hotel accommodates, though it never felt crowded overall. We explored the island using local buses, and the central bus station nearby was very convenient.
- A disappointing experience with extremely poor value for money. I do not recommend this property.
- This hotel is a great choice for families with kids from 3 through 10, I would say. Water slides, lots of kids, three pools for all ages, good food, helpful staff. Location is great too. Food was actually 5-star but there are also many things that were not great.
Cons -
- We booked a sea-view room, but the sea was only visible when standing at the edge of the balcony and looking to the side. As there is also a “side sea view” category, we checked with reception and were told that our room was considered a sea-view room and that, due to the layout of the building, most rooms have a side sea view just like ours. This may well be the case, but it made us wonder about the distinction between the two room categories and the difference in price. We were also informed that using the in-room safe costs an extra €3 per day. While this isn’t a large amount, it was the first time we’ve encountered such a charge at a four-star hotel. Some budget hotels may not provide a safe at all, but we had never experienced an additional fee for using one.
- I paid for a room with a direct ocean view, but received only a partial side view. On top of that, there was loud noise until 3–4 AM coming from a nearby bar with karaoke, making it impossible to rest. The front desk staff felt arrogant and overly focused on upselling extra services, including an additional fee just to use the in-room safe. The room condition was unacceptable: damaged furniture, visible dirt, and hair found in the bathroom and even on the shower door. Overall cleanliness was far below any reasonable standard, especially for a hotel charging nearly €300 per night.
- Capacity of elevators is insufficient for the size of the hotel. It is disapointing at peak times especially if you are with small kids and in a hurry. Charging for filtered driniking water to non-all-inclusive visitors at dinner, charging for the safe box in the room seem like strange decisions - price is not an issue but the impression it makes is not great. They refer everyone to the hotel's app but it is not working properly - scheduling is very confusing, etc. Kids club information is basically non-existant - QR code they give you leads to child registration but no information about what you register for is provided. Holtel is aging and it shows - the doors in our room did not fully close by itself - we often found our room opened after the cleaning. Fitness centre design is not great - not a single pull up bar despite a lot of space.

Staff friendliness, shows ,location good food
Beds could be more comfortable and the pillows not my type !
10 out of 10 in every way. Excellent facilities, very clean and friendly staff.
Food was excellent and so much choice
Unless you were standing up you don’t get sea view
The staff made this stay unforgetable! From the reception to the houskeeping everybody was polite and kind to us. The food has great variety, and there’s always something to do in the facility. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
This is our third time at this hotel. We go Prestige and love having the option to sunbathe on different levels with more comfy sunbeds. The staff are amazing and the food delicious and plentiful.
The only small thing was the size of our bathroom which was a tad small.
Very good range of choices for breakfast buffet.Staff very friendly in all areas and very helpful at front desk.High level of cleanliness and comfort throughout.Only problem is with the availability of lifts at peak times
All the little extras like the free cocktails and ice creams given by the pool were such a nice touch. The fashion shows were good. The water refill stations were fantastic. All the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was great, huge choice and very nicely done. The daily classes were great, loved the aqua classes. Plenty of sun beds. Great location!
Can't think of anything!
The staff at the Iberostar Waves Bouganville Playa are exceptional. They are genuinely concerned with providing for your every need. Every interaction is conducted with a smile and a 'can do' attitude. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. The room facilities are good. The only issue we had was a variable water temperature in the shower, but I suspect that was worse at certain times of the day. It certainly would not stop us from staying here again! The Star Prestige all-inclusive was worth every penny, and we thoroughly enjoyed the extra touches, such as the dedicated lounge with sandwiches, pastries, coffee, cold drinks, and beer etc. The separate sun deck and roof terrace for star prestige customers made finding a sunny spot much easier, and the more comfortable sun loungers were a god send for a day in the sun! The food is excellent and there is plenty of variety. There's something for everyone! There are too many positives to list them all. Highly recommend.
good breakfasta lot of facilities inside of the hotelnice entertainment options (kids disco, shows, etc)
very slow elevators with huge waiting timesthe room needs some renovation
The hotel is spacious with nice exterior areas and swimming pools for adults and children. The swimming pools for children are brand new and very clean and have lots of space and different activities. It is easy to find a bed near the swimming pool. The hotel offers clean towels as often as you need them. The staff is nice and relaxed. It is at very short distance from Tenerife South airport with easy access. Is near the beach and right next to a nice path with bars and cafés.
The rooms are small and smell bad, have not been renovated for ages and are not cleaned properly. There is a lot of noise from the hotels and bars next door. The lifts are permanently busy. The buffet offers a lot of choice but the quality of the ingredients is at best mediocre. There is very little that actually has any taste in that buffet. Also, in half pension (breakfast-dinner), they ask you to pay for drinks at dinner, even for tap water. I was asked to pay more than 8 euros for tap water and a glass of coke. Refreshments (coca cola, fanta etc) are not the genuine ones but imitations and have no taste. The swimming pool bar does not cater for people without all inclusive, even if you offer to pay for a drink they will not serve you! So you have to go to a supermarket outside the hotel. In all, despite the nice pool area and activities for children, the hotel is too expensive for what it offers. Ah, I forgot to add that you have to pay extra for the parking ;-)
Everything was great , we love this hotel and go every year
Not much to unlike , if I had to say something maybe more fresh fruit instead of tinned but we really lovethe food in the restaurant
Location ideal, food excellent and very helpful staff. Overall n very satisfying holiday in a active/busy part of the island, however, never experienced it as noisy or uncomfortable.
Two single beds in rooms - prefer a double bed. Explanation of detail what is included in half board - for instance no water or wine or coffee/tea include in dinner - all to pay for, while for breakfast champagne and coffee/tea/water all included.
Large, friendly ,lots of sun beds ,aqua class at 12 ,great breakfast options , lovely room 148
Lift waiting time
We stayed at the hotel as a family of three for two weeks. Overall, it was quite good. The room wasn’t the newest, but it was clean and pleasant, with daily cleaning. The mattresses and pillows were comfortable, and we slept great. The staff was friendly and polite, which was evident in every interaction. The restaurant was good, with a wide variety of food options. There was always something to suit any taste. The leisure areas, including the pools, slides, and other amenities, were at a decent level.
On the downside, the hotel was clearly overcrowded. This was noticeable from the number of people at breakfast and the waiting times for the elevators. What really disappointed us was the inability to address the constant smoking on the balcony by our neighbors. Leaving the window open or stepping out onto the balcony to enjoy fresh air was impossible due to the smell, spit, and ash. Complaints at the reception and direct requests to the neighbors had no effect, as this seems to be hotel policy.
Beds and pillows very comfortable. Room bright and very clean. Breakfast very tasty and good choices. Pool area fine.
Bathroom very small and awkward for two people, door opens in on toilet at a very bad angle- have to be careful. Didn't like the decor in dining area- too much white, more like a canteen. Area in bar where music is played liked a big airport terminal, nothing warm or cosy- a pity. Did not have a snack bar at pool- had to leave hotel for light lunch(unless your all inclusive)
staff lovely, food better some nights than others though breakfast always good and snack bar is great. we are a couple and our beds were two twin beds smooshed together, NOT good. if you gonna do that, you should clip them together. also, guests claimed seats at pool early morning so was impossible to get seats, and then half the day those seats were empty but with a towel on it. not fair. i think there should be a rule about this. staff were very nice overall though and service was very good. location is also excellent.
bedsthe bar needs to be redone and also you need a second or third bar, with a different vibe. you get bored in same overly lit area every night. need to mix it up, have a small lounge somewhere maybe and modernize the space.
Great staff, good location.
Elevators rather slow
