Pros +
- Location was outstanding with views of big rocks in distance and access to hiking trails. Lovely village and location was private, away from busy town. Welcoming staff and great croissants and jellys!
- This stay was the BEST of our trip! We were a group of six coming from the US to the Dolomites for the first time and Renate and her family truly were excellent hosts. Rooms clean, well appointed, smelled like fresh cedar, and location — well, both days we hiked straight from our hotel into the mountains! Breakfast was filling and fresh. Renate had excellent knowledge of the valley and great recommendations for all levels of hikers (and all weather variations). Could not recommend more highly and hope to come back!
- Great place to stay.Good breakfast, big and comfortable room, and a very nice sauna. The location is excellent, close to the ski slopes.Highly recommended.
Cons -
- No air circulation in my room - middle of building, so could get very warm. Only complaint.
- It’s a short walk to town, plenty of restaurants in the area. But beware, the walk back is all uphill.

Great place to stay.Good breakfast, big and comfortable room, and a very nice sauna. The location is excellent, close to the ski slopes.Highly recommended.
Neat, clean and functional with plenty of space to hang clothes and “live” in the room. Our room also had a balcony which we used to watch the sunset and the twinkling lights of the town below.
It’s a short walk to town, plenty of restaurants in the area. But beware, the walk back is all uphill.
Breakfast was wonderful with traditional offerings found at most B&B's but additionally, host was willing to make fresh eggs if asked and coffee was made to order.
Everything was great.
Everyone was wonderful and helpful The hotel was incredibly clean and warm with lots of bright windows. Could not be easier to park in their underground garage which make packing up all of our gear and keeping snow off the car a breeze. Parking was also complimentary so it was nice to not incur an additional cost. Breakfast every morning was very nice and a great spread. Super easy to get to the ski hill in the morning as well! Could not be more happy with our stay and highly recommend it!
Nothing, everything was great
We loved everything about our stay. The breakfast and coffee was amazing and we were made to feel so welcome. Close to the ski lifts and a short walk to the village. Nothing was a bother and we loved the warm atmosphere of the entire place.
We had to leave.
Very warm and kind host. Perfect location - quiet but close to lifts, no car needed really to move around. Very good breakfast, new interior and SPA facilities.
The hotel and staff were fantastic, the owner was really involved and provided us with brilliant recommendations and really helped us when out on the slopes! Couldn't recommend them enough!
Nice view from the balcony, covered parking garage. Clean modern. Boot warmer wall. Nice spa (though not open for very long- 4:30-7 and you pay extra for the whirlpool)
Cold forced hospitality. The location is the furtherest point from the city center. Glad we had a car. We used most of the time. Would have rather stayed at a nicer accommodation outside of town . The beds extremely hard and unpleasant. We got very little sleep due to the discomfort of the beds and the paper thin walls. Every footstep above us kept us awake most nights. We couldn’t ever get the rooms to cool down, always hot. “Breakfast” was … nonexistent, other than some expired fruit and pastries. Which the host insisted we pay for in addition to our $1000 “B&B” booking which CLEARLY advertises “complimentary breakfast” My partner asked for eggs one day which was provided begrudgingly along with the coffee. We decided against inconveniencing them for breakfast after that, even after paying extra for it. We stayed at numerous places around the area, this was by far our least favorite stay. An unfortunate choice on my birthday ?These folks clearly aren’t In for the hospitality.
Hotel owner, Renata, was great, helpful and very friendly. We’ve enjoyed our stay very much. Hotel looks new, and it was very clean. It is very easy to get to the ski slopes, it’s 100-200m on foot from the nearest ski slope.Breakfast was good, lots of options. Eggs were available on request. Gluten free and lactose free options are available as well, on request. Room was spacious and very clean with a beautiful view.
No major issues. It’s a bit harder to get back from skiing to room, as it’s uphill, and getting to the city also has uphill parts. We like to walk so it wasn’t an issue for us.
great atmosphere, very friendly host, very nice wellness area, excellent breakfast
beds were OK but not super comfortable.
Very clean and spacious room. They also gave us a free room upgrade. They were very attentive making sure everything was fine. Wil definitely book here again and recommend this place to friends and family.
The access to the lifts is fairly easy with a couple of minutes walking and the bus stop is right at the hotel if you feel too lazy to walk. We really liked the SPA right in the hotel: it provided much needed recovery after full day of skiing. The staff provided exceptional service: we had a little accident with our car already in Selva and they drove to us to pick us up and help.
Fantastic property. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Room was beautiful and we had a view of mountains. Staff was very nice and gave great advice and checked in.
It is a hilly town so be ready for walking uphill and downhill to restaurants and the stores. There is a bus but we were there offseason. We didn’t mind the hills and walking but I know some people might. We were happy with views and location for us.
The place feels very homey and location was perfect as it was quiet yet close to the shops as well. Renate and the rest of the staff were very accommodating and helpful, we were a large group but their service was top notch and it felt like a home away from home.
Rinate the hostess was the best , always greeting you with a smile.Great location and very clean hotel .I recommend it very much!
My recent stay in Selva di Val Gardena was a delightful experience. This accommodation offered a great balance of comfort and convenience. The room was cozy and well-appointed, with a comfortable bed. The staff was friendly and helpful, providing recommendations for local restaurants and activities.Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay. The accommodation offered a great value for the price, and I would definitely consider staying there again in the future.
I have no complaints.
I've stayed at 5-star hotels that weren't as clean and neat as Garni Sunela's entire venue. We told the staff not to worry about making the room perfect every day, but they insisted it was house policy. There's a beautiful short hike behind the house, perfect for evening walks. The town is quite small, so everything is within walking distance (restaurants, supermarket, city center).Private underground and outdoor parking is available, with a bus station right in front. Would definitely come back here for a ski trip.
Nothing of major importance to me, but might be helpful for other people:If you're planning very early hikes, make sure you're self-sufficient, as the kitchen is closed overnight. If you plan on working remotely and are used to high-speed internet, be aware that the Wi-Fi is quite slow (remember, you're in the mountains). If you're not accustomed to the countryside, occasional whiffs from the nearby farms might put you off (this is applicable to all accommodations in the area).
Fabulous stay at Garni Sunela. Thank you Renate! This hotel is really well positioned in Selva with easy access to the town and then a whole host of activities within touching distance (with or without a car). Rooms are spacious and nice without major frills. Breakfast was really lovely and Renate (and family!) are on hand to help throughout with tips and help. This has a really lovely family feel and we did so much in the four days we stayed. This is a great base for anyone looking to explore the Val Gardena.
