Shoji Mount Hotel

Location was in front of Mt. Fuji and free rental cycle.

The building is old and the staff were not professional.

Everything! The onsen was great and we did enjoy the massage chairs as well. The scenery was amazing, we could see Fuji from our window!

There was nothing to dislike

This may be the best location in Japan to see Mt. Fuji. The view is amazing.

The hotel itself is dated. The lobby is oddly placed around a corner, so the hotel is not welcoming or intuitive (there's no one to welcome or guide you). We remain at odds with rooms like these where the toilet is on the other end of the room from the sink/shower. While we had a direct view of Mt. Fuji, because we were on an upper level, the view felt obstructed because of the lower level rooftops. We also stayed down the block at Shoji Lake Hotel and found it to be very welcoming (we were met in the parking lot and in the lobby with gracious hosts) with updated lobby and rooms, especially the bathrooms. At Shoji Lake Hotel, the view is not obstructed by a rooftop, but is less direct than Shoji Mount.

Good location, lots of free parking, comfy futon beds.

Be advised this is an old building, and the facilities/rooms can be somewhat smelly. In my room the air conditioner was not working unfortunately, so it got pretty cold in the night. As it was outside of office hours so I could not call the staff about it late at night. For the price, it was not a great place. But if you are not very picky, its decent.

Great views and location to the region. Fun stay and a quiet locale . From outside, just as advertised and like the tv show Hot Spot

It’s a bit dated and “old fashioned”. Staff does their best and are nice. A little bit worn for its worse. Not the same interior as show Hot Spot

Car is ideal way to visit but we went by bus and it was worth the trip with nice scenery.

I don’t get how this place got such high score. Besides the nice view on Fuji, everything is bad in this hotel

Very quite location.Our room has direct Mt Fuji view.Not every room has mountain facing.Easily walk down to Lake Shoji for closer mountain view.There is a free in house onsen. Room is clean.

30+ min drive from Kawaguchi town area.We have a car. So no problem moving around. If not planning to eat out, you need to place your food order with the hotel in advance. There are only 2 or 3 other buildings around and not sure there are restaurant there.Wifi not reliable.

The staff was kind and helpful. The room was nice with a wonderful view of Mount Fuji.

The hotel is a bit far and transportation is needed to get to restaurants or attractions. The hotel itself is a bit outdated.

The view of the Mt Fuji from the room’s window in the morning was stunning!

The staff disappeared in the evening so there is no way to ask anyone for help unlike other Ryokans we’ve stayed at.

We booked a room with a view of Mt Fuji and it was great. The food at the hotel was also reasonably priced and tasty. Staff was friendly. On the downside, if you come from Tokyo and you do not have a car it is tricky getting to and from the hotel as the bus does not run frequently and a taxi is expensive (around 10.000YEN).

The room we had was new with a view of mt Fuji and the lake.The food was good and affordable. The area is not busy with lot of tourists. You can chose between Japanese breakfast and the American breakfast. The American breakfast was a nice break from all the traditionnal breakfast we had.The onsen was clean and very hot.There is a Mt. Fuji gallery on the 3rd floor

The hotel was overall cold from bad insulation.A lot of people taking picture of the hotel because of the Japanese Netflix serie Hot Spot.

If the distant location is not an issue, this is definitely the best location to view Mount Fuji. Thanks for offering us a room facing the mountain/lake.

Beds are quite hard and pillows flat, only option for food is at the restaurant so keep that in mind when booking and it’s quite a tricky place to travel from Tokyo

I was hooked with 「ホットスポット」 drama and wanted to stay, and had a very beautiful experience with mount fuji. Thank you. Although i can speak japanese, Staff are multi cultural and friendly.

The view from the Great Fuji Mountain is very impressive.The room looks new and comfortable.Free bike rental for one hour is a great option.
