Pros +
- The staff is very nice, the restaurant is good, the view from the restaurant is just great! The infinity pool just wow The hotel looks very colorful and happy.
- Amusingly quirky establishment, with very attentive staff requiring a reasonable level of fitness from hotel guests, as there are a fair amount of steps to access the property, if walking up from the village
- This place was absolutely not worth the price. I had originally booked a room the night before, only to have them cancel my reservation last minute without any communication. No explanation, no warning—just a cancellation, leaving me scrambling to find alternative accommodation. Since I wanted to stay close to the beach, I had no choice but to book something else last minute for that night. The next day, I still wanted to stay in this location, so I rebooked and managed to stay for one night. I quickly realized that it was way overpriced for what you actually get. The room was not clean at all, with dust, stains, and an overall neglected feel. The service was terrible, with staff who clearly didn’t care about guest experience. The only positive was the view, but honestly, that alone does not justify the price. Overall, a frustrating and disappointing experience—definitely not worth the money.
Cons -
- Nothing really
- Couldn't really understand the need to remove our footwear before entering the breakfast room, especially with there being "open" wooden planks on the floor. Also, not all hotel guests are comfortable with the hotel dog wandering about the breakfast room, during meal service.
- Everything is great. But you have to know, mosquitos can get into the room. Just take care to close the room and check them out before sleeping, then everything is good. With the roof sealing fan anyway it's no problem then. Thebeds could have mattress protection and cotton linen, but this is an extra and not Thai style ?

It's very beautiful, tranquil and unique. Also the waterslide is a huge plus for children and grown ups ?.The staff is also super friendly. The breakfast is basic but good. Our bungalow had even a sink in the kitchen. The fans are also a plus

It's such a beautiful place to be, I've never been anywhere like it. All of the positive messages everywhere, all of the artwork. The grounds are stunning. I'll return to koh samui just for this resort it's that spectacular. I'd highly recommend getting breakfast included. This has the best breakfast I've had by a long way. Also the staff are absolutely brilliant, such lovely people .
I haven't got a bad word to say about it. You can't find a bad word to say.
Lovely Furnishings And Nice Decoration With A Beautyfull Garden. Very Good Breakfast.
A Magical, Enchanted Stay at Varinda Resort – A Perfect Family Retreat! We stayed at Varinda Resort on Lamai Beach as part of our family adventure in Thailand, and it was an absolute highlight of our trip! Travelling as a family of six with children aged 17, 16, 9, and 5, we needed somewhere that could cater to different ages while offering a unique and memorable experience – Varinda did exactly that and more. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the happiest, friendliest staff who made us feel at home instantly. The whole place has such a chilled-out, magical energy, and my children immediately described it as having a Disney Encanto vibe—and they weren’t wrong! The resort is bursting with colour, character, and charm, with positive affirmations and inspiring quotes dotted around, adding to its uplifting atmosphere.Everywhere you turn, there’s something new to discover—quirky decorations, vibrant murals, hidden seating areas, and winding paths that make it feel like an enchanted jungle retreat. Even when it rained, it felt like we were in a hidden tropical paradise, with the lush greenery coming alive. I genuinely couldn’t stop taking pictures; every corner of the resort is beautifully unique and full of character. The villas are authentic, comfortable, and beautifully in tune with the natural surroundings. They’re not your standard hotel rooms, but that’s exactly what makes them so special—they have a rustic, welcoming charm that made us feel connected to the place rather than just visiting.Breakfast each morning was simple but delicious, with fresh ingredients and a relaxed setting that suited the whole family. The communal areas, from the pool to the lounge spaces, are equally inviting, making it easy to relax and soak up the tranquil atmosphere.Overall, Varinda Resort is a hidden gem. It’s a place where families can truly unwind, embrace nature, and enjoy something completely unique.
Nothing - wonderful hotel.
The room was clean, comfortable, well maintained and we loved our stay. The place is really lovely and peaceful, yet very close to lots of restaurants and the beach. We will come back!
Tons of beautiful handmade decorations. Everything is green and woody with tons of plants and inside a little jungle. Every centimeter is well thought and decorated. Absolutely beautiful. Just look at the pics.If you want to escape the city's concrete a little, this place is for you
Varinda is just an amazing place. Real wonder land for vacation with kids! Great 3 level pool with water slide.Nice and authentic restaurant on the territory. Really kind, helpful, and polite personnel. Perfect quiet location near Lamai beach, however close to busy street with markets and cafes near Lamai beach.
Would be great to have shower curtain in the bathroom however this was really the only one issue to mention about.
This place is amazing......so different and the staff make it special....we stayed in room 47.....little table outside with a view.....comfortable bed and new TV witha all channels you want.Buffet breakfast very good and with an amazing view.Only thing would be mobility issues....a lot of stairs so maybe want to contact beforehand..This is an amazing boutique place. I would definitely recommend. It's 4 out of 5 from me.
Very cute and eclectic needs a little repair in some places
The bed and it’s in a large hill.
It is absolutely amazing It feels like you are in another world Stunning! Felt so great thereHad a wonderful massage too facing the sunrise Recommend 100%
Mosquitos manage to come into the room but not really an issue

The aesthetics of this hotel is what initially drew me in, however my partner and I were a little disappointed with our stay. From reading another review, it seems that we were also given one of the oldest rooms in the hotel that was extremely dark, even in the middle of the day. This was tolerable because there was some natural light, however, the bathroom was pretty much pitch black. Similarly, the water temperature in the shower was quite frustrating as it was forever changing and never stayed the same, at times being quite unbearable where it had to be turned off. Upon arriving, the room obviously hadn't been cleaned in preparation for our stay which only made things worse when the cleaners forgot to clean our room on our first day. However, this was quickly resolved when we informed them of the issue. We had quite a few mosquitoes in our room so I'd recommend taking precautions. Despite our disappointment with the room, the breakfast selection was good and wasn't the same every day. Although, not for people who aren't animal lovers as there was a dog wandering around the restaurant area during breakfast time, which could be off-putting for some. We didn't spend a lot of time in the pool area but when we did, it was a nice, relaxing space however, not for a lot of hotel guests as the area was quite compact. There was a separate beach/restaurant walkway at the back of the hotel which was very convenient to reach the main area, however, did entail walking up and down quite a lot of steps. One stand out for this hotel was the beautifully uplifting space that has been created by the staff. As other people had mentioned - everywhere you looked, you saw something new, which made it a delight to wander aimlessly around the hotel grounds.
It’s quirky bohemian design on different layers and levels, it’s like a cool maze of rooms. And the colours and the view from the restaurant whilst having breakfast was stunning.
Personally we were ok but if your elderly or not very mobile it is on a steep hill which ever way you come from. But with a moped it’s easy to get in and out of, plus the views at the top make it worthwhile. Also the birds and bats etc are so beautiful and cool!
Absolutely brilliant place to stay, so much color to the place with little sayings that just make you feel good. Off the main road, you cant hear anything, except nature. Varinda is nestled in native and has all these little paths to places, explore this place its an adventure. The owners and workers are the most hospitable, friendly and nicest people you will meet, always there if you need or want something. you can get almost anything from massage to scooters. The pools are cool and we loved them, actually loved them more than the beach lol the food is so nice at the restaurant, the room has air con so thats great, you have your own little deck to chill. Varinda Resort is quirky, private, quiet, and if your looking for somewhere different then this is the place to go. Not far from anything, if ever we go back this place is where we will go again.
My western back wasnt quite used to the harder mattress, but I just asked for a topper and wallah nice n comfy. In the kitchen area was a little fridge and table. Probably could have used another bench or table, had I asked I probably would have gotten one, but didnt really need it. There really isnt anything you need here, as its all supplied, Brilliant !!
The pool. The restaurant. The whole set up.
The fact that nobody made me aware that you have to walk down a steep hill and up again to get to and from Lamai village and the beach. No fun at 71. So we moved out the next day
Peaceful place on the hill - but still easy walk to all the shops and restaurants Staff is so friendly and welcoming
